Most known for movie various movies and television series, Lynch is a decorated writer, director, and producer who is perhaps best known for his work on Twin Peaks which scored a revival in recent years.

In issue 1222 of ProductionWeekly, an untitled David Lynch project is listed that’s going under the working title of “Wisteria”. For those who will try and derive meaning from the working title, the word is associated with the various flowering plants found around the world.

The listing also states that production is due to begin in May 2021 and that it’ll be filming in The Calvert Studios. Lynch is listed as writer and director for the series with Sabrina S. Sutherland listed as a producer. Sutherland has worked on a number of projects including Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces from 2014. Beyond that and Netflix’s involvement, much remains to be seen.

We technically aren’t the first to report on a new show from David Lynch heading to Netflix. Back in April 2020, Lynch spoke about the possibility in an interview with THR (which was picked up by Collider) that there were rumors surrounding him working on a Netflix show but confined them to just rumors.

When asked about a secret Netflix project, Lynch responded with the following:

“There’s all kinds of rumors. I’ve got a show called What Did Jack Do? on Netflix right now. It’s a great show about a monkey. It’s something you’ve got to see. And it will really help you in quarantine.”

As he alludes to, the famed creator has worked with Netflix in the past. Three years ago, Netflix released Lynch’s project What Did Jack Do? to the world. The strange 17-minute crime mystery drama as it’s dubbed featured a detective interrogating a monkey. The movie was not announced in advance and dropped on Netflix to rave reviews.

Didn't care much for TP season 3 but I still love Lynch and will give it a watch. I hope it is weird but in the Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway sort of way and not TP season 3.

I'm still waiting for my spiritual successor to Eraserhead or Wild at Heart

Love Twin Peaks seasons one and two. Did not watch season 3 yet

Fantastic.

Absolutely loved TP3. It was such a weird, dreamy trip. The memory of watching it feels like a dream too.
the episode-by-episode rollout was key to the enjoyment! having to wait a full week after some of these was amazing. your mind would go to so many places.

you should do it! there is stuff from all of his work in this, it is a culmination of all his stuff. parts of episodes feel like Wild at Heart, some like Lost Highway, some like Twin Peaks. it has a lot of Eraserhead in it too!

I'm really hoping that maybe he taps into Mulholland Drive in some fashion. Albeit I absolutely love the movie, I think it was a real pity that it was never a TV series as originally planned and I'd love to see him explore the land of broken dreams some.

Netflix can suck a dick, but if I didn't already have access to Netflix via a family account, I would be purchasing a subscription solely for this. Lynch is an artistic god and can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

I was hoping we'd get another feature length film from him before his time is up, but I'll take whatever I can get. Twin Peaks The Return showed us that the man is still crushing it hard at 74. Can't wait.

They will fire him or the show will get cancelled after one season. Lynch is not woke Netflix compatible.

They let the Cohen Brothers make Buster Scruggs, I think Lynch will be given free reign here and he isn't really known for anti-woke messaging. My understanding is that Lynch simply won't play ball with anyone unless he is given complete creative control,.
