Are there legitimate games on PC that look better than demons souls?

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
I just don't get this need to compare* games that mostly don't look that similar.. Demon Souls is a great looking grimdark kinda corridor game.. there are other games with great graphics that have beautiful outdoor settings.

We have a wealth of gorgeous games out there... enjoy them.

* jk I get it.. the minute next-gen consoles came out console warriors had to latch onto something lol

nah console games like TLOU2 and the NEW GOW .. They may not 60 fps.. But they blow away most pc games in looks

Yeah it even looks better than doom eternal on pc.

The fact that a launch console game can keep up with the best looking pc games is really good. No game will look as good as DeS on a 400$ PC.

You get what you pay for.

While a cheap 400 usd consoles sell g point is cheap hardware, is like comparing a VW Up with a Lamborghini.

Both can drive and get from a to b, but the lambo looks better (*cough* pc graphics) and are way faster (*cough* 140+ fps)

And again. There's plenty screenshot that looks better than Demons Soul, and while it's almost on par with the average pc game, the framerate is not, and as the time goes by, the consoles starts to lack behind really fast because it's locked hardware.

Now this launch is complete. Every launch there's a post like "Are there pc games that look better than [launch title here]?", and every time the answer is no. I was already giving up hope that I see it this time around.

pretty sure that screenshot is from the OG doom 2?

For example, a modest game like Judgment, has better faces (and specially eyes recreation) than almost all AAA games out there.

Totally agree with this. Yakuza series is the first time I've ever seen games able to actually convey realistic and even subtle looks and emotions without uncanny valley or exaggeration. It's a big part of why its stories are so impactful. People were impressed with Death Stranding, but I think these games do it even better. Particularly Kido in Judgment or Hirose in Yakuza 6, off the top of my head.

Loads.

The 'last gen' multiplatform games like Witcher 3/RDR2/Valhalla are on par with pc settings cranked up.

That game looks fantastic. I'll keep just as devoid of info as you and that youtube video did.

Even though I did find out what it is, having never seen it before.

Most certainly, there are several. That being said, Demon's Souls is the absolute best looking and performing console game I have ever seen.

maybe you quoted the wrong person because i don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about,

Might check your password, maybe get two factor on your account, because it sounds like you'd been hacked.

Theres plenty of proof in here that the pc does better graphics.

At least here I'm not seeing anything extraordinary.

Don't take me wrong, the game looks absolutely fantastic and it's crazy that you have to go look at games running on $1000+ PC's to keep up with a $399 console. But to me it look like just another great looking game.
I'm not seeing the "best graphics ever, nothing can even compete with this" level of quality

No, of course.

Consoles are a vastly better deal, in terms of cost to performance.

But this is a dud comparison. No PC game is designed for a 2080. If it was, the developers would go balls out to push that card and that card alone.

Talking in terms of art styles, it's 100% subjective, but there are a ton of games on PC that have higher resolution textures, more/better post-processing effects, better animation, skybox tech, lighting, etc. They are all capable of 4K and/or 60+ fps if you have the hardware to pull it off.

In terms of tech, it's just not a fair comparison. You have a hardware set designed around a $500 budget vs a hardware set where an individual component might cost more than the entire console gen. The new consoles are fantastic, and their capabilities at the price point are better than I expected, but we're already seeing games struggle to hit 4K/60 and anything running at 120fps on the new consoles looks like pudding trying to do so.

New games will look better on a high-end PC and mods exist so even older games that looked mediocre at launch can be made to look as good as you want/have the time for.

You won't find any exclusives that look as good but most past gen titles look just as good with the settings on high or ultra.

Once the current gen titles like CyberPunk hit PC, you'll see PC pull ahead again although admittedly, those details are going to be harder and harder to notice. It's mostly going to be about frame rate and little details.

These are the worst kinds of threads because they get replies despite them not needing to exist.

If you're asking if there's better looking games for people who aren't Sony fanboys and can discern differences in rendering tech, then yes, of course.

Let me explain, sometimes games will use certain rendering techniques that are ultimately way more true to life or newer technology - but it doesn’t translate into an overall better looking game to someone with no real knowledge of tech. I don’t think it’s a ridiculous proposition to say this - like games are a sum of a lot of different parts to create the whole image. If you have to read up on why something is technically superior but it doesn’t translate to the overall image to a layman i don’t think it really matters. Example - miles morales has RT - Demons Souls does not - Demons souls looks WAY better IMO.

What is my statement? I’m genuinely curious - I see people saying it a lot in other threads and I don’t know how to post screenshots

That a ps5 game has better graphics than any top notch pc game.

Not even close. RDR2 was by far better looking... and I didn't even like that game.

I wouldnt even call Demon Souls spectacular. I would describe it as atmospheric.

I got metro from all the hype graphics to test my new pc and I’m more impressed with resistance ps3 lol.
the character, environment, enemies are so dull.

Is not only graphics power u need good design.

I don’t have ps5 but I finish Demond souls og. Also watching videos some character look so bland and boring.

Spider man look nice. again I don’t have play but those skin shaders, 👍

DeS Remake looks good but not that good lol.

Every Sony exclusive game and feature gets put on a pedestal. How many times do you have to read about dualsense on these forums in every thread? I have a PS5 and I haven't thought much at all about the dualsense or tempest audio for that matter, gimmicks as far as I am concerned.

You don't have took look far to find a thread comparing Astros to Mario, pretty much a case study on this phenomenon.

With regards to souls clearly they have done a good job with it but people seem to conflate art direction they like with the technical merits.

There are some really terrible suggestions on here. Gears 5? Demon's is in another league with respect to tessellation, texture quality, and lighting.

Demon's is really, really good looking, so there's only a few I'd agree can make an argument. Flight Sim for its lighting and absurd coverage of nearly the entire planet, and RDR2 for its draw distance and lighting. With RDR2, though, it sacrifices detail near the camera and micro-sized asset detail for its incredible draw distance and LoD management; if you closely inspect textures and especially flora it doesn't stack up to Demon's micro details, which are really well done. I'd also put the way Demon's lighting engine handles dynamic light sources a tad above the way RDR2 handles the same.

I made that thread lol - it’s hilarious how bent out of shape people get. I actually prefer Xbox overall, and think Switch is one of the best consoles ever made - but I’m using the PS5 right now and have genuinely been surprised about things. I will say with demons souls I AM NOT feeling the haptic trigger resistance on the bow and arrow. People really need to chill it’s video games - I’m asking genuine questions. No need to think there’s some crazy ulterior fanboy motive here. I stated in the text I don’t have like a 2080ti or 3080 so I haven’t really experienced what those games look like I just see people mentioning Pc games looking better a lot and was wondering

EDIT: I will say I played flight simulator but I don’t think my computer is good enough to run it properly

You should ask yourself why that is. Sony exclusives consistently have top tier artistic talent behind them, which makes sense given their pedigree, budgets and massive audiences to support them. Technical graphical aspects are only a means to an end; what does it matter that someone has a Ferrari if they don't know how to drive it properly or insist on some garish colour?

As for features, Sony innovates much like Nintendo. What has Microsoft done since XBL?

Thank you but no.
DeS Remaster has a huge amount of very defined shadows unparalled with those you find in Control or other games. Maybe with RTX on is different.
I don't like DeS very much, but at least it looks like a true next gen game.

These pictures are lower resolution and don't come close to doing the game justice.
Plus they don't show it's(superior to the cumbersome PC) HDR.

As an overall consistent visual experience? No, I don't think so. You can definitely have certain scenes or moments in certain games look on par or better, but as a complete package Demon's Souls is nuts and has that next-gen feel.
