PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Are there other head sets that are better than the pulse 3d head sets and sturdier?
You can use any stereo headset that can connect to a PS5 in any way.

There's a world full of options. Sony has somewhat successfully obscured this by calling their stereo headset "3D" lol

(apologies if you already knew this, I still think the whole thing is kinda funny and very Sony)

I'll be glad when we get some UI updates - themes, the ability to organize your collection and hide games from showing up that you never plan to play again or may not even own anymore, etc...

Has Spiderman been patched at all? Gotta finish the DLC but it was crashing quite a bit on me.

Days Gone is flawless, so been playing that. Haven't had any issues since turning off sleep mode and not playing Spiderman.

It seems my PS5 has coil whine and its rather grating.

Its not nearly as bad as the Pro's fans mind you, but its annoying. My soundbar volume wasn't all that low and I could hear the sound if I focused on it. Which you will. It sounds like white noise, low buzzing sound which you can catch through gaming. It seems it only happens with Demon's Souls running though (its def not there on the OS). My console is vertical, can't remember hearing it when it was horizontal. But its only 3 weeks old, Pro started off silently as well, lol.

I mostly play with headset anyway, but I'd hoped it was silent.

No Man's Sky review by Push Square.

7/10

Key points:

  • The best version of No Man's Sky yet
  • Great visuals, smooth performance
  • Lots to do
  • Much shorter load times
  • Good DualSense implementation
Can't wait to dive back into this. Hello Games have certainly improved this beyond imagination. This next gen patch really ramps things up. Improved load times are the most welcomed addition.

Is just me or the PSbutton seems a bit too soft and unresposive (doesnt really feel like you pressed a button)?

I feel like Sony should have included this cable in the box instead of the usb-c to usb type A that we get for the controller

The way Sony went you can plug the USB-c on the PS5 and change a USB thing or plug the USB side and charge a USB-C like the dualsense. Pretty smart, if you ask me.

So I started having a weird download error with a game patch.
Black Ops Cold War won’t download the latest patch. The PS5 starts the download, gets about 3 or 4 GB into the 25GB patch, and then it errors out with ce-100095-5. I click more info and the PS5 just says “an error has occurred”.
This is only happening with COD. My other PS5 games patched fine. Any ideas?

My PS5 is stuck during the most recent firmware update...Says there are 59 seconds left and has been here for 15 minutes...Really have no idea what to do here lol

Suggest you start panicking.

Yeah, I’m gonna leave it on all night lol and hope it finishes. If it’s not done by morning I’m gonna have to risk turning it off during an update, which is probably guaranteed death. RIP my PS5

Good luck mate. I am going to hold off the update for the next day or two.

I've managed to order one today since one of shops put "super' bundle (pad, camera, 3 next gen ubi games) to inflate price which somewhat worked and kept most of bots away - now i'm waiting if they cancel my order or not.

So what ended up happening was that I started the update by following the prompt when I went to turn off my PS5. As far as I can tell, if you start updating through this prompt, then there is no way to cancel the update whether it is downloading/installing. Turns out my update actually stalled when it was downloading, not installing, which I think is less problematic, however, given that there is no way to exit the screen I was at, I am not sure. What I did was just leave it on all night and eventually the PS5 entered rest mode. I woke it from rest mode and the download was still in the same spot, just paused and unpaused it and it worked. Then I installed the update normally. So fortunately my PS5 is fine, I don't think there is anything to worry about with this update, maybe if anything there could be an issue with following update prompts given when turning the console off.

Man, Ghost is so damn impressive on PS5. Not only does it look incredible but runs silky and loads fast. I have so many games to play right now that I've been neglecting this game but it's criminal really cause it's so freakin good.

The USB-A port on the front of the PS5 is only 2.0, so much slower data transfer. The 2 on the back and the USB-C on the front are all 3.1 (10 Gb/s) and ideal for fast data transfers.

Sony have said they specifically recommend using that slow USB port on the front for recharging controllers, while using the fast ports on the back for external storage.

Meanwhile Sony have not said what they recommend using the fast USB-C port on the front for. Therefore, I suspect its there in the future for the next PSVR headset. It can transfer power and video and audio, all in 1 cable. So we could easily connect it to the front using that Type C port.

So thats why the cable included is Type-A and the Pulse 3D headset uses a Type-A connector too. It also is generally more compatible with more devices and doesn't need faster data transfer to just send power.

Or just get the DualSense dock to recharge lol.

So, I'm just a dirty peasant with last gen consoles. But I have a question for Sony GAF:

I'm in the mood to get started on a new JRPG and I'm trying to decide between Persona 5 (1st version) and 4. I own both, but I've only ever completed Persona 3 and that's one of my favourite games of all time.

What do you recommend Sony GAF crew? P5 or P4?

Both are extremely good games and I spent many hours with each of them. I almost got the platinum for P4 Golden on the Vita but the hardcore Risette stop me from getting it. And I managed to get the platinum for Persona 5 (base version) after playing through the games three times.

Both are incredible games and you can't go wrong with either. It's really hard for me to choose between the two because they are both so amazing. To me it seems like Persona 5 is all about style and the sound track is amazing. But I enjoyed the humor in Persona 4 better especially when it comes to Kanji.

All patents leaked so far show a wireless headset, so I doubt PSVR2 will need any port besides charging or updating.

Finally jumped into Miles Morales after finishing up the platinum in SM Remastered. And man this game is so fun, they've really distilled the original down to the essentials and made some smart new additions in the right places. This is much better pacing for this kind of game: none of those silly puzzles, none of those terrible MJ bits, instead straight into the real action and getting new upgrades quickly. I hope we get more games of this scope and price from PS Studios this gen, not everything needs to try to justify the $70 tag.

Man why did no one tell me that Miles Morales is so good! This game is a bit underrated I feel. And that performance RT mode is great. I was planning on going with fidelity mode but I'm really happy with this instead.

I really like how fast everything moves in this game, it doesn't waste your time, whether it's with story reveals or new upgrades. This might be one of the best Sony first party AAA games honestly.

I did have one weird bug though. In that street party scene, there was a woman walking around with a full sized car for a head. It was hilarious and kinda disturbing!

Well, it turns out that I was just gifted a PS5 by a startup I do some tech work for on the side. But I'm not sure what I'll play on it.

Get PS+ for a year then start with the PS+ collection of PS4 games you get with that:

  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Zombies Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard
A lot of those will run enhanced in some way.

Oh and Astro's Playroom is excellent.

Have they fixed the LOD issues on PS5? I haven't kept up to date with any patches.
EDIT:

Seems like they've addressed the HDR (brightness) issues and some mention of the texture quality which I think was the LOD problem. Have to have a looksee.

Hmm, good idea, although... how friendly is that to limited internet bandwidth?

While my profession is remote tech work, I live very rural by intention, and we're so far out that all our home internet is only via hotspots since nothing else reaches us. I basically have about 200GB a month to use before the fees start charging per GB, but use a ton of that for work. So, my usual way of doing content like gaming is: take the switch or laptop with me physically to my office space I rent in town for days when I decide to drive in, and that way I can download any games / updates etc on that network rather than running up the house bill. Which means as a rule I keep automatic updates etc turned off at home. With PS+, it's hard to imagine easily managing my bandwidth. I suppose I could drag the PS5 to my office each Saturday and download what I want, but it's a big of a pain.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Each one of those probably rocks in minimum of 35 gig EACH. Probably more like 45 to 50 gig each.

Not very internet friendly at all.

Edit: not that your going to download all of them in one go of course they won’t all fit on the PS5 without some form of external drive. So you’ll need to make some decisions what you want to play first out of those listed and stick to them. And of course being digital you’ll need to be signed in to PS+ at all times (and thus consuming bandwidth) to use them.

Finally got my ps5 today.

- standing vertically next to my tv is the most beautiful console ever
- dead silent
- very satisfying set up, everything is so snappy
-During Spiderman's installation I tried Astro Bot. 2 hours later I truly believe this studio can surpass Mario Galaxy.
- generally this was by far the best first impression a console gave me and I have most of them since atari 2600.

Hey guys. Has anyone encountered a bug regarding streaming via Youtube? It keeps saying I need to verify my account, which I've already done.

So I got my PS5 and had it setup, everything went smooth, but I can't get access to my PS4 saves that I uploaded to the cloud from my PS4. Very annoying since I had a couple of playthroughs I intended to finish on PS5, such as Sekiro where I was one playthrough left to platinum.

I have formatted my PS4 because I'm gonna give it away so can't access the saves anymore there. I thought cloud backup was bullet proof. Very disappointing if I can't access the saves anymore.

Anybody hot any ideas?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I found it now.
