So... about The Witcher 3: Definitive Edition

It's being made by Saber Interactive. The guys that also worked on Crysis Remastered

Hope they dedicate themselves on making the upgrades.
Never played the game, but seen numerous mods on Nexus Mods that really make the game shine - even after 5 years (from textures and character models to full on DLC-like expansions)

I did some digging and looks like there's little news. I guess this thing is coming out in 2021? That is too bad. I just bought the GOTY edition on GOG for $15. I played the original on release but stopped playing it because of the clunky controls and battle system. I want to give it another shot, especially with the Cyberpunk 2077 hype going around (picked that up but I'm going to wait for CDPR to iron out the bugs).

If you're anxiously waiting for the remaster, in the meantime you can try Pascal Gilcher's RT reshade (before / after):

I generally never replay games but it is Witcher 3...

I've already sunk about 400 hours into it

Keenly waiting to see what the upgrade looks like before doing another play through. I've already put in 500 odd hours on pc, so it'll need to be a decent upgrade for me to replay.

so you still haven't left white orchard yet?

i want to replay it but i'm waiting to for this before jumping back in. it doesn't need to a major improvement cause either way i'm going back to play it.

I'm dying to play this game for the second time, been holding out for almost a year now waiting on the next-gen port, CDPR did say it's expected to land before the end of the year, my guess is some time around December.

I played it for the first time on my PS4 which was limited to 1080P at 30 FPS. However I'm expecting something like 4K DRS at 60 FPS on my PS5, if they can push ray-tracing, improved texture resolution and instant load-times all in one package, it should be worth the wait.

It's a myth at this point, no info whatsoever, no screenshots, no release date, no news.
It's killing me, I finally give in and played in on my PS5, absolutely loved it but I've stopped to keep the Blood Wine expansion for playing on the next gen version, I wish they'd hurry the fuck up and release screen shots or video so I can see of it's worth hanging on or if it's not that big a deal simply play it now

Yeh, I thought it was supposed to be coming out this year?

I have no idea what CDPR are playing at, they are a shadow of their former selves.

They probably are rethinking of making a fast cash in from witcher 3 DE edition with cyberpunk dumpstering them in reputation.

Maybe they delay it and actually do some full blown effort now.

To be fair to CDPR after the shit show that was Cyberpunk, another game I'm holding off on playing until the next gen, Witcher is its legacy, there's no way in hell they can fuck that up, so they're taking their sweet time and ensuring it comes out nothing short of perfect, they need this release to be praised and get some gamer points back, it's a pity as it means we all have to wait that bit longer to play it..

Hopefully they're also working on another expansion to go with it, nothing huge but something significant

If they learned something from the whole Cyberpunk situation is that showing things too early rarely goes well. And it's still almost 3 months until end of the year. In addition, season 2 of Netflix The Witcher is coming out on December 17, so it's possible that we will get more information about release then (they teamed up with Netflix for WitcherCon and some DLCs, so joint marketing between them would be smart).

DE edition is free for all current owners of TW3 and you can grab it for couple bucks if you wait for a sale. It was never about making a fast cash.

This is probably delayed like Cyberpunk 2077 next gen edition.

IDK why they are even bothering using resources on making a RTX version of The Witcher 3.

They’re not. That’s not say I wouldn’t welcome a epilogue for the final crone and the bloody baron.

Also what all does the definitive edition really truly need to be successful? As long as it’s 4K/60 it’ll be a very worthy upgrade.

It’s their most successful game of all time, selling 10s of millions of units. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why “they are even bothering”
Also, they farmed the game out to Saber Interactive. It’s not affecting the development of anything.

Would be great to get some snippet of info on where they're at but again the whole cyberpunk fiasco has no doubt made them re-evaluate their entire marketing and reveal strategies and will only release info when they have a solid enough schedule, tbf I'm really looking forward to playing Blood and Wine in hopefully 4k/60 with better textures and possible RT, the base game still looks incredible

If CDPR the guys who were sure of their release date but kept delaying them say that its probably not coming this year then its probably not coming in the next year either :messenger_tears_of_joy:
