Back 4 Blood - Reveal Trailer and Gameplay Demo

l4d2 was my go to game. I will watch the gameplay demo later. I assume the trailer is all CGI.

I really hope they can re capture the magic of L4D. There was just something about that game that you could keep playing it over and over again.

World War Z was ok but just wasn't the same. KF2 was good but again its a different game then L4D2.

Wouldn't mind a L4D collection/remaster with 1+2 re release on PS4.

Looks very promising. My gf is a huge L4D fan so she'll be all over this (I hope). Always on the look-out for more co-op shooters.

Tyler recently did a very good overview of all of the currently known info on this. Everything from the movement mechanics down the the AI director and what not:

Gameplay looks fun but I am calling fake on it.

Dont like the characters from the trailer and gameplay.

Needs more Katana.

What time is it?
Cautiously excited for this. It's not the most popular opinion, but I think No Mercy is the only great campaign in the L4D series. The level designs and lengths were just a master class. L4D2 let me cold on the series as I wasn't a huge fan of the gear or special infected additions. The 20-foot tall Zombie seems to be going in the opposite direction of what I'd want. I love co-op games though.

Shooting hundreds of zombies every few minutes looks so tiresome to me.

Shame that Turtle Rock ran back to the old formula after Evolve bombed.

I still think L4D is the most fun of this style of games. Others I've tried:

-Dead By Daylight
-Friday The 13th (most potential but plagued by technical issues)
-Evolve (least favorite and the monetization scheme was something to behold)
-Predator Hunting Grounds

It looks like the Evil Dead game is going to be a L4D-like as well. I like what I saw in the trailer but Boss Team Games doesn't really have a track record.

So, your problem is you've never played Killing Floor?

Killing Floor and WWZ don't compare to L4D.

Man I wish this game can capture the feel of the first L4D.
I loved the characters, the interactions, P-P-P-Pills here! Gunplay, just everything was damn good.

Out of all the “Left 4 Dead“ type games shown tonight, I really want Evil Dead to be good, but I know this is likely to be the best of them.

fuuuuuuuuuck yes!

i missed this last night. been waiting for L4D3 for years. finally!

vermintide 2 is on fucking point for anyone who loves L4D and needs a fix on that type of gameplay. only thing is it's melee and not guns... well, there are guns, but they are secondary to swords, shields, axes, hammers, etc...

I was thinking that so many of the games they showed off borrow from that 4 player coop squad design of the L4D games. Once difference that I liked about B4B is that the characters seem to have personality and know each other, which is something I really enjoyed about their earlier games.

I'm extremely excited for this game, really enjoyed the original but I really enjoy l4d2, I still play it a ton. Signed up for the alpha, characters in Back 4 Blood seemed to really evoke the characters also sounded like they got the coach voice actor again for this game.

As a fan of L4D, I was waiting for footage for this SO bad. Followed their Twitter for what felt like forever. So glad to FINALLY see it. Gameplay too! Surely the multiplayer will be there as well, can't wait for that. I loved L4D 1/2's multiplayer so much.

I'm honestly wondering, and hoping, we can get some L4D tie-ins at some point. Is it needed? Nah. But man, it'd be really cool!

I was already hyped about the confirmed footage of Darktide being shown, but this is what I REALLY wanted, so glad it was there! :D

The gameplay looks okay, if not a little disappointing - like it's stuck in 2010. I'm a huge fan of L4D, but this looks like a direct clone with no real differentiation. Maybe I'm off base, but I was really hoping for something deeper, prettier, or more sophisticated.

Vermintide 2 didn't give me a fix because there was no asymmetrical MP.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Its been quite a long time since L4D 2 so this is more than welcome. I think people forgot this was announced a long time ago quietly but without the L4D name.

This looks great. I've been a L4D freak since those games came out. Still fire up 2 on occasion.

Now we need to know:
  • What are the gameplay mechanics? Is it literally just L4D, where squad members help and revive each other?
  • What is the structure to the levels? Is it "randomized" with a "director" like L4D2 had, where the same map and experience changes dynamically? Obviously it still has safe rooms, so the general structure of sprinting to the safe room is probably still there.
  • What categories of weapons and melee options & mechanics? L4D2 added and changed a lot vs the first game.
  • What kind of multiplayer options? Is it as robust as L4D2?
With the release date being six months out, we should find out soon enough.

i hope they dont try to do too much with this game. the endless fun of L4D 1 and 2 wasnt complicated or over the top. it was jsut a good feeling shooter that required a decent amount of teamwork and felt fun as balls to blast away at hordes. i really hope they just focus on solid gameplay without bloating it the fuck out.

Vermintide 2 didn't give me a fix because there was no asymmetrical MP.
the fuck is assymetrical mp?

I agree with this, this game needs to have multiplayer with human controlled zombies if it wants to a big hit like left 4 dead was.
They're adding Vermintide 2 Versus in due time. Not sure why it's taking so long though. I'm guessing COVID of course. I looked it up and saw it was still being tested. I completely forgot it was a thing until people reminded me recently.

They're referring to the PVP multiplayer that was in L4D, survivors vs infected. Asymmetrical Multiplayer is the term that basically defines different players having totally different roles and capabilities making one experience completely different than the others. Typically a PVP setting.

ooooohhh ok... lol ive never heard anyone say "asymmetrical multiplayer" lol. gotcha

i mean, fuck yeah thatd be dope in vermintide 2, but the base game is so fucking good that i dont even need it. if i recall correctly, versus didnt come around until L4D2, and everyone seemed to love L4D1 without it 🤷‍♂️ well, whatever they do, i really hope they get this right and dont bite off more than they can chew. i dont even play mp most of the time tho so maybe thats just me (but i have to admit l4d2 versus was the fucking bomb!)

Haha, I don't blame you. It's been thrown around about a year or so, but not TOO frequently as a lot of the games don't exist. Unfortunately. I'm a big fan of them. :p

Nah, the first actually had it as well! At least on PC, can't recall on consoles, but I'm sure it had it too. I think it just really picked up in L4D2 TBH.

Honestly, I have high hopes that this will feel no different as they're the ones that worked on the previous games as well. Only difference here is the engine, brand, and card mechanics it seems. At least thus far. Hoping for the best across the board!

Also excited about Vermintide 2's Versus and I hope Dark Tide has something similar.

I have a friend who was nuts with L4D and L4D2. he even 100% everything in L4D2. he had been busy with work and didn't do much PC gaming now a days. but after I told him about this, his first reaction is "holy shit I need to get a new PC." it puts a smell on my face :messenger_grinning_squinting:

It looks incredibly rough but the release is still quite far so hopefully it will be polished. I'll wait with my purchase until after the first few reviews.

Maybe the footage doesn't do it justice, but it plays really good IMO. Only issue I personally came across was some lagging and rubber banding on enemies. I think there's a few things they still need to work on, but it definitely feels like a L4D sequel for the most part, lol.
