It's such a missed opportunity that publishers don't see the potential in GeForce NOW

It's such a shame that only a few big publishers launch their games trough GeForce NOW.

The instant Cyberpunk 2077 was released GFN basically "sold out" on paid subscriptions because the demand was so high. Why? Because people wanted to play Cyberpunk on high end PCs without having to own one. I don't have any numbers, but I can only imagine that CDPR sold alot more copies due to this service.

You could of course argue that there are added input lag, but it doesn't really matter too much in single player games like these.

Stadia probably boosted their service as well because of this game.

I sure hope more publishers will see the potential.

I don't know what they changed but suddenly my work firewall doesn't allow it to run, so it went from my main way to game to dead to me. :(

If it made a big difference, all developers would release games on there and Stadia.

They don't for a reason.

Datacaps and ISP are the reason.
Need to regulate ISP as a public utility if you want any semblance of first world internet infrastructure.
The ISPs are more concerned about their shareholders instead of their product.

The problem is that games that really push the limits of hardware are free and far between. CDPR is well known for their PC optimization, most studios are not

Geforce Now uses your Steam and Epic game libraries. All developers have to do is opt in to the service. Hopefully with the monthly founders selling out devs will realize GeForce Now is a good way to get people to buy and play your games even if you don't own the best gaming pc.

I got a free sub with my 3090. I haven't touched it and don't think I will. It's kind of an odd thing to throw at someone who just spent a lot on a new GPU. I also find it pathetic that a publisher needs to opt in on a service that lets the customer play a game they already paid for. Fuck any publisher who denies their customers of this.

my internet at home isnt really fast enough to use geforce now properly, but that should be sorted next year.

when it works its amazing, by far the best cloud streaming service and its not even close, being able to play your own library of Steam/Epic/Uplay games is amazing.

GeForce now is fantastic, I love it. However, right now ShadowPC is far and away the better option.

I can play any game, run CEMU, Dolphin etc. all from any device in my house.

I like Geforce Now but it's still not optimal. Too many games suffer from issues, especially some of the new big ones (like Valhalla), and it's EXTREMELY annoying how they remove and add games without any notice. I got the new Total War to play on Now and they removed the game from the service 2 days later out of the blue.

However, tons of games run fantastic, the free service is good, and it offers support for so many games. Also great to not have to install some of these big games locally. Gonna be interesting once Microsoft gets Scorpio up and running on PCs.

Doesn't it take like 4 months before they set up a PC for you though? and it's more on the premium side in terms of money right?

These devs think I have to pay for the privilege of installing the games I've already payed for, using my own library.
They just want more money.
If it wasn't for GeForce Now, I wouldn't have been able to play HITMAN 2.... which it's in my Steam account already.

It's honestly kinda pointless to speculate without numbers. We don't know what nVidia's capacity was for it to have overloaded it's servers.

Quite possible that number isn't that high.

If you follow the subreddit they post about games leaving that month. Not the best way to do it, I know, but it's something.

They should have marketed it as a PC you can access from anywhere without restrictions, instead of this limited, console-like service. Publishers wouldn't have been able to make a fuss about it then.

Yeah it takes a while to get a PC, especially now with COVID. Premium depends, I don’t really mind paying $20 a month, I chuck it in with my streaming budget.

Then again, you could go the cheaper route and get a set up with the 1080 gpu and 12GB of RAM, which serves plenty of people just fine!

It has potential but GFN servers can’t handle the load from bigger releases. I tried for two days to launch Cyberpunk without luck, haven’t seen if it’s any better two weeks later but I got burned big time by this once very loved service. Haven’t cancelled it yet but I considered doing it.

They still only have 1 west coast DC and it's down in Santa Clara... last I checked they didn't even let you buy in if you lived in Seattle.

It worked fine for me day of release up til a few days ago when all of the servers had issues. I play on one of the Chicago servers though.

Yeah I haven’t tried since dec 12, EU Northwest here, I guess I should give it another try if not just to experience RTX.

You can sign up from just about anywhere around the world. Make sure you have a good connection to their server before you sign up. I'm in FL and my data center is in NY and it's perfectly fine.

Just checked; yeah they now have Washington State as an "exploration" area; they say service might suck.

I'ma check it out though, honestly these are crazy rates for something like a cloud PC for programming.

Go with the lowest tier, which is like $10 a month. You can always cancel at anytime. They need to add more servers in the US and Europe with their crazy growth. I’d say 2 more per region.

Yeah that's all they let you buy at first anyways (at least when you don't live close to the DC). There's no ordering anything but the standard 1080 config.

You can then upgrade once you use it for a month.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
What's a shame is Nvidia bending over to them to keep their relations for hardware. So long as I buy a game I should be able to install and play it on any PC I want with my account, whether that's my PC, my family's PC, my friend's PC, a PC I rent locally, or a PC I rent remotely like these cloud services. Requiring a publishing deal between the PC cloud service like Nvidia's or Shadow Play or whatever other is out there and the game publisher should only be there if it's a streaming service like Stadia that sells the games on its own, rather than rent you a remote PC and let you install whatever software you already own a license to use on it. Now if Nvidia couldn't get their cloud hardware to handle stuff like Steam or whatever well enough that would be another matter and on them, but being able to do that yet blocking the games based on the publishers having a fit over it, as if I don't already have to buy the game from them, is bullshit (I don't even use this, just being objective).
