Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC is 10 times better than Gears 4 & 5 campaigns combined

yeah that was fun. Short and sweet, looks and runs just great on the Series X. But after 5 installments I just feel I've had enough Gears in my life to keep me excited about this franchise unless it's Tactics 2 or some other major twist to the formula.

I actually don't think that any game does better the TPS shooting, which is currently relevant (so no Vanquish, sadly). But obviously that's just the matter of the taste.

Finally started this the other day and had a blast. Not sure how short it is but I just finished the volcano ride part. Hoping there’s a bit more at least.

I really enjoyed this.

Admittedly very short, and too linear in places, but looked good and played great.

Hoping for more in the next installments.

Finished this the other day, loved it. Except for that snatcher fight. I hate those things; what a frustrating encounter. Hated them in 4, hated them in 5, hate it Hivebusters. (What a catharsis though, playing through the last level of 4).

Went back yesterday to get the two collectibles that I had missed. I was disappointed that the ultimate ability upgrades don't save? I was hoping that I could play from the start and have all of the upgrades ready to go from the start.

I watched the Escape mode trailer, it appears that the Hivebusters DLC is a sort of prequel to Escape mode (story wise). Having never played it, what is it like? Is it fun?

Just finished it and loved the hell out of it! So good. I hope coalition keeps this up for the next entry. Every battle area was so well crafted. Gameplay wise and artistically. One of the best looking games I’ve ever played as well. I think the whole COG design look blended beautifully with the tropical world. Want more now :(

Bruh... 6 hours?
I've beaten it in less than 3

If it had been longer, I might have actually liked it. It's the kind of experience 5 should have been.

Just finished it. What a great little game. Much more enjoyable and memorable than Gears 4 and 5 indeed. Varied campaign with interesting characters.
And it looks downright gorgeous. Set proper HDR and its a showcase for it. Absolutely wonderful looking game on a high end PC/XSX with LG OLEDs. I was in awe at many places, even with small things. Light falling through trees, the perfect brightness of sunlight, dark shadows and great highlights. I literally stared at a pond of lotus leaves for a while because just how beautiful and realistic it looked.
Highly recommended!

Played through it, I don't think its particularly anything special compared to the other campaigns, I'd put it roughly on the same level.

I'm surprised MS didn't put more budget behind this and make it a mini exclusive for the Series X like Sony did with Miles Morales seems like a missed opportunity. I don't expect many players are touching this, its getting like no views on youtube and I wouldn't have even known it was a campaign if it wasn't for this thread.

Gears 5 is a walking simulator. HORRIBLE pacing. Horrible writing. Too much focus on Jack and upgrades that really don't improve the gameplay experience in any appreciable way.

Hivebusters is much better, and closer to OG Gears. Still not perfect, but much better.

Fully agree, hopefully next installments will follow Hivebusters suit.

Just finished Hivebusters and the Series X version of Gears 5. Damn are both of those spectacular looking games; true next gen on the Series X. I frequently had to stop and just admire the view in Hivebusters or marvel at the light and shadows playing through the trees in the jungle. Just beautiful.

The only thing I'm dissatisfied with is that Hivebusters wasn't a complete game, It was so damn good and so damn fun I was sad it ended too soon. I wanted to keep playing. I hope the Coalition does more campaign DLC like this one and I can't wait for Gears 6.

Started up Hivebusters last night and played through the first 3 chapters, getting all the upgrades and collectibles so far. Really loving it and share the sentiment that it’s the most next gen looking game I’ve played so far (with Demon’s Souls on PS5 a close second). I’ll do a replay of Gears 5 at some point too to check out the upgrade. I also really liked that game and Gears 4 and never shared the gripes most have with them (other than the open world part of 5 being a bit dull, the skiff or whatever it was called was fun to sail around though).
