cant help but feel this should be native 4k on both platforms
I think they did the bare minimum for an "upgrade" (it was already dynamic res and 60fps)
Not sure what the "Enhanced Visuals" are.

- 4K Dynamic Resolution
- Enhanced Visuals
- Significantly Improved Loading Times
- Cross-Platform and Cross-Gen Compatibility
What was the resolution on pro and X for comparison?
PS4 Pro uses a dynamic resolution with pixel counts found during gameplay being between approximately 2240x1260 and 2560x1440. During scenes capped at 30fps the PS4 Pro can reach 3200x1800. PS4 Pro seems to downsample from this resolution when outputting at 1080p.
Xbox One X uses a dynamic resolution with pixel counts found during gameplay being between 2880x1620 and 3200x1800. During scenes capped at 30fps the Xbox One X can reach 3840x2160.

But this was during beta from 2019 March.

EDIT:
Lowest to lowest resolution from PS4 Pro to PS5 is over 2x increase!
Lowest to lowest resolution from XB1X to XSX is a 1.55x increase!

Nice all around win for SX.

About time.

Edit:

Not BC. Here's some notes regarding the upgrade on the Series X side.

"The next generation Smart Delivery Enabled version of Mortal Kombat 11 on the Xbox Series X|S includes:

  • 4K Dynamic Resolution
  • Enhanced Visuals
  • Improved Loading Times
  • Cross-Platform/Cross-Gen Compatibility for select modes*
  • Xbox One owners and new buyers can access a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S version of their game, available in conjunction with the Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate launch."

Have they went into detail what the "Enhanced Visuals" are? The launch trailer doesn't really go into detail.

Non demanding arcade games are the only cases where XSX can get slightly on top compared to PS5. We already saw that on some DMC5 modes (but not the 120 fps mode). When only pure GPU spec matters.

On every other games and modes, PS5 is better and will very probably stay on top.

It would be interesting to know which part explains most of PS5 superiority, between variable frequency, higher clock, level 3 unified cpu cache, I/O system and custom geometry engine (which greatly reduces the need for VRS)

Too bad the xbox controller is booty for fighting games anyway 👎 I own and love both, so don't even start with me.

Agreed I mean fighsticks are the best but the Xbox controller is just not great for anything requiring buttons IMHO: fantastic for shooters and Western RPGs though.

This thread will die in a second, I mean we only have a huge difference here, only 16% in resolution and a much better FPS, but still, having just slightly better FPS in a few scenes in destiny is much more important of course.
No, not at all, it's dynamic and not locked to 16% and it is absolutely not a much better fps.

52.38fps52.4fps52.38fps59.97fps60fps60fps

Soooo much better.

It wouldn't make sense discontinuing X1X if XSS wasn't an upgrade. It was supposed to be better, except it's not really.

Any machine is more powerful than base X1. The bar would be extremely low. It was the TV TV TV machine.
Haha you know the X1X is obsolete right. A console came out called the XSX that can do everything the X1X could do so it wasn't needed. It still doesn't change the fact that the XSS is an upgrade for the X1. When games run better on the X1 than the XSS you can complain about the XSS's power.

kkkkkkkk

What is not stronger than XB1? C’mon.

Xbox One X was discontinued to have a place for Series S... Xbox One S continue being the lowest machine.
So that's why MS created an upgrade to the X1, the XSS. X1X has nothing to do it. That console has its own upgrade track.

There are no headings or labels, what do these values mean?

I am kinda thinking this is a bit of a weak port on all 3 next gen consoles, don't think they put much time/effort into it, but it's a free upgrade so meh, whatever.

What do you mean non demanding?
If the game wasn't demanding it would have a locked 4k resolution. The fact that both versions have to employ a dynamic resolution very much means the game is demanding something that both console's GPUs aren't able to keep up with. It's as simple as that.

Thats weird considering destiny 2 had the same resolution, same quality and ps5 had the slight edge on fps and both had more delta going on the screen at once and yet ps5 cant achieve the same resolution on this? O well u win some and lose some

This looks like a good job across the board. That pixel difference is interesting....lol I think these results would fall completely in line with what informed ppl were saying.

Looking good.
