Kanye West tried working with Nintendo

KyoZz

Tag, you're it.
During his podcast "Talking Games with Reggie & Harold", the former Nintendo of America president said he met Kanye West a long time ago at E3.

Accompanied by Kim Kardashian-West, the artist came to the Nintendo booth and, after meeting Shigeru Miyamoto, requested an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, who agreed. During this interview, Kanye West presented a prototype indicating that he wanted to work with Nintendo.
Unfortunately for Kanye West, Nintendo was forced to refuse, Reggie Fils-Aimé declaring to have "politely refused", while specifying that he had really felt the passion that Kanye West had for video games at the time.

"Part of [the meeting] was talking about what he was up to. He was experimenting with a piece of video game content; he wanted reactions to it. He comes out and says, 'I want to work with Nintendo,'" Fils-Aime recalled. "
We had so many different projects at Nintendo going on, the possibility of doing something with Kanye just wasn't there, and so I had to find a way to politely decline this opportunity to work with him."

I told him, "Kayne, you don't want to work with us. We're demanding, we're tough. We only want the best of the best. We're not the kind of working relationship you want to cultivate."
At that point he looked at me and said "Reggie, this is exactly the kind of thing I want in my life!" and there I was like "Oh my gosh."

Why even schedule a meeting with this...unhinged individual? Disappointing to read Nintendo actually allowed him near Miyamoto as well.

Wonder how many people have told Kanye "no"...

I will say I'm impressed with nintendo, as I would think most companies would jump at that idea (being able to market it in association with Kanye West).

I respect Kanye for his talents. He seems to have a wide range of passions and seems to excel in multiple different industries. I still remember him ranting on radio about wanting to join a fashion house but no one wanting him only to recently sign a 100 million dollar Yeezy apparel deal with gap and have a 1 billion dollar shoe empire with adidas. This on top of him already being a legendary hip hop producer. I can understand why he has such a big ego.

He’s even good at art. These are some of his work from high school.

I agree, he seems like a kind-hearted person. We need more of him and not that WAP garbage.

Oh without a doubt. I suspect most the people here blindly shitting on him have never actually delved into his artistic work. All his albums are classics in its own right, artistically my beautiful dark twisted fantasy is one of the best, if not THE best album of the decade.

I guess it is much easier to read sensational headlines and posts to get a shallow understanding of the complicated man that Kanye West is. But there is no doubt in my mind that artistically he’s one of the most defining characters of the 21st century.

Just my opinion at least.

He isn't in the slightest, sorry to tell you.

Call this good?

He isn't even a good lyricist or producer. He just got lucky with Jay-Z.

Listen to the lyrics on that. The video just compounds it.

Even Kylo Ren doesn't look happy with this performance.

His lyrics being a mixed bag is one thing but he is definitely one of the best producers of modern times. What are you smoking?
Who cares about some shitty track he did with Lil Pump!?

Do you call this bad?

Are you fucking kidding me? Easily one of the best producers in the game. No doubt about it. Hate his arrogance, his antics, his lyrics, him fucking with the Kardashians or whatever, but when he is in his field, he knows what he is doing.

For best producer in his genre possibly. His production is still awful though, an 808 and a synth, haha.

I could do that on my PC decades ago with VST-s and cheap hardware.

He just copy pastes shit.

Then calls himself Jesus, I've made music dude. Just he made money.

How could you seriously listen to anything from MBDTF and say "uhh just an 808 and a synth lolol".

All albums sound different. That's hardly a copy/paste.

Aight, then do it and show it to us filthy pleasants. Right now you just sound bitter because he actually made it while you made some cheap as shit no one wants to listen to.

Do you even understand how music sampling and editing works?

Look it up on Youtube dude.

You take a sample, cut it down then copy-paste and mix/EQ.

Check out this bad-boy that was huge;

If If you knew anything about music. Any copy paste there? It's normal, especially for rap and dance music.

Even Rock/Metal, music in general.

Post your music if you are so great, we'd love to hear your genius.

I work as a full time musician. Studio work, toured, done the hotel circuit in Asia, cruise ship work, private lessons etc... Kanye is amazing and easily one of the greatest artists of all time.

Show us how easy making a hit record is, otherwise you sound like every other disgruntled musician I know who "could easily write a huge song and make millions of dollars but have too much self respect to sell out like that".

Wasn't what I said. You're being brittle.

Read my comments again please.

I'm pointed out his music is mostly samples.

I don't think he's a "genius". Never said I was either.

As a musician you should know how this works.

Also no offense to people who do that, been happening since the 70's.

Just think he randomly rambles over other peoples work (He does)

Even that Daft Punk album is completely full of samples and is amazing.

Whoops! Pointed out the obvious, sorry about that.

I will say this: He is a very talented artist, even maybe genius. But he’s bi-polar and it can be like one minute he makes sense and the other not know what’s going on.
