Machinegames doing Indiana Jones for Bethesda

there is no such term, both companies are stupid for using it. Exclusive means one platform sir.
lol wut????..sir...Words have a meaning ... and a game declared console exclusive means that in the world of consoles it will only be exclusive on one platform. All as simple as the words used. To many this bothers because it does not help them in their guerrilla warfare

Cool, is it going to be an uncharted knockoff with perfunctory climbing sections with slightly discolored ledges so you know exactly where to climb which makes traversal a pointless chore? Because that's the only way action games are these days. Maybe some narrow corridors to squeeze through as well? Maybe a derivative skill tree from tomb raider?

AAA has no interesting 3rd person action game ideas. Looking forward to hiding in tall grass to stealth.

Indiana Jones is a really hot IP right now. This game is going to sell gazillions such as the marvel game released by SQUARE enix. Idk if there are any tomb raider games coming or uncharted games at all. It will probably reach that market if no other franchise is around. Lets see if it turns out good. I loved the movies even the last one that was so so.

Watched this trailer like 5 times, I'm really gonna have to rewatch the indy films this week aren't I?

This has SO much potential. I wonder what direction they'll take, open world? semi open world? linear mission based?

There needs to be a big emphasis on exploration and traversal.

Watched a video or two... Matty Plays was saying 3 or so years at least. Seems like a very long time...
I doubt it. Bethesda Softworks and all of their studios have a thing about not revealing games unless they are somewhat close to launch. Wolfenstein 2 was announced in June 2017 and released in October of the same year. Fallout 4 was announced in June 2015 and released in November of the same year. Dishonored 2 announced in June 2015 and released in November 2016, 17 months later which is not that long. Apart from Elder Scrolls 6 CG trailer, they have stuck to this formula. I think Indiana Jones is no more than 18 months away.

For comparison's sake, Microsoft purchased Minecraft for $2.5b, and they expected to recoup their investment within the next fiscal year. (Not sure if it did or not, but I'm sure it's paid for itself by now.)
And Microsoft continued to this day with putting Minecraft and its spinoffs on every competitor's platforms.

Market factors are complicated (unless there's a boatload of MTX, I don't see Indy generating Minecraft monies...,) but a $billion dollars somehow doesn't make demands like it used to. It's probably an exclusive, but Microsoft is an expert in playing the long game.
This is a new game.
Mine Craft was already on everything.

5 Indiana Jones movies
14 Uncharted games
7 Tomb Raider Games

Now they're making Indiana Jones games?

I wish they had 14 Uncharted games

MS didn't expect to recoup their investment within one fiscal year. They expected to make more money than they otherwise would have made had that $2,500,000,000 continued to sit in the bank.

Idk what the annual interest is on 2.5B sitting in the bank, but lets just say it's 100 million. So basically MS expected to make more than 100 million off of Minecraft in the first fiscal year. So it makes sense for them to keep it on all platforms. Minecraft is so much more than games, the merchandise is huge.

Hope it’s not an uncharted/tomb raider-esque game or if it is they evolve the gameplay a lot. Would like something cool done with the IP but I feel like Indiana Jones games usually suck.

Why give it to Machinegames? Give it to DoubleFine and make a true successor (point and click adventure) to Fate of Atlantis. This is still one of my favorite games of all time. I can't see Indiana Jones being a good action game.

Tomb Raider and Uncharted are as good as they are by doing their best Indiana Jones impression.
Of course a modern Indiana jones game can be a great action/adventure game.

Can't you just enjoy the story and let go? Its like an interactive movie with set pieces.

Is that the N64 game that was at Blockbuster? I remember that one being kind of odd with controls

edit: looked it up, PS2 and Xbox but nope never played this one. Any good?
I liked it a lot back in the day, I wonder if it holds up. I believe it's playable on Xbox systems via BC so I might have to check it out.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Give me a new knights of the old republic.

This is the real prize. This deal goes well. Obsidian just may be developing a new KOTOR game.

As far as this game goes... the exclusivity question will likely not be answered until the acquisition is complete this year. It is interesting though that if the acquisition wouldn’t affect the platforms that they haven’t gone ahead and said it was multi platform. Furthermore, I think Sony not responding to this speaks volumes too.

This will be a Game Pass title either way, so it’s a win for Xbox/PC gamers regardless.
