Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury - New Trailer

It actually looks better than the Wii U version. The graphics look awesome. Bowser's Fury could easily be one of the best entries in the Mario series.

Always knew the big guy had it in him to be a badass :messenger_beaming:

I really can't wait for this and hope its one step closer to Nintendo finally giving Bowser the standalone game he deserves.

This game never came out on 3DS... it's a WiiU port. You're thinking of Mario 3D Land I think... I never played that one personally, how was it compared to 3D World? And for that matter, while they did this Switch port of 3D World, why didn't they just include 3D Land as well? That would have justified a full price tag. The Bowser's Fury 'game' is an obvious short game that as some have said here could be a tester for a full blown game in that style.

I can't really comment on the controls because I thought they felt fantastic. I don't run all the time but I definitely am holding down the run button the majority of the time. Also, as I'm sure you know, the characters control differently, some levels are better suited for Luigi, Peach, etc.

As for playing multiplayer. It's an absolute blast with 2 people, if you have a partner/spouse I highly recommend playing 2 player with them. I've played with 4 and it's fun but super chaotic. I think it'd be hard to do a serious run with 4 people, unless everyone was taking it serious and not getting distracted by everything going on.

I'll try playing as other characters, I only switched to other characters when I had to so far.

It's got some advantages and disadvantages. I prefer 3D World but 3D Land is amazing, too. Since it's single player (with no multiplayer component), the levels are "tighter" and designed a bit better. The 3D is phenomenal and it's still probably my favorite use of 3D in the whole system. (I had to play it on a New 3DS though; I felt the 3D technology in the OG 3DS was a bit too wobbly for my taste.)

But I prefer 3D world because of the multiple playable characters, bigger levels, the catsuit and associated mechanics, etc.

I'm definitely interested in Bowser's Fury, but I would like something substantial, like 3 hours+, and I'm worried this is more like an hour long diversion.

It definitely makes a difference with certain levels, especially if there are tricky obstacles to getting to the top of the flag pole at the end. Luigi and Peach are good for that if/when you don't have any power ups.

Surprisingly I never played this Mario game. I enjoyed Odyssey a lot and I LOVE IT!

Definitely going to get this one

Dude, if it really is as what you said, your next game is on me.
I like Galaxy as well but I just had way more fun playing this game by myself and with others. So to me it is the best 3D Mario game to date. World has online co-op btw. Also unlike in Galaxy you can
use Rosetta...er Rosalina here.

I think I've finally given up on it :( its not for me. I just unlocked the World 3 boss and I've put it down without doing it.

I really want to finish it but I don't find it nearly as engaging as other 3D marios for me. I find 64, Galaxy 1&2 and Odyssey a pleasure to play, just to move around, I find 3DW good to move around in at best, and at worst annoys me with the running being tied to the suit button, it doesn't give me that Mario feeling™, I don't get that "just one more level/star!" feeling from it.

I really want to play Bowser's Fury but don't see myself paying £50 just for that when I don't want to play the main game. No worries I'll just wait for a Nintendo 1st party sale 😬

Do you like 2D Mario games? Because while I'm not on the "3DW isn't a 3D game" train, it certainly does take after those games. The levels are less about exploration and more about presenting the player with clever sets of obstacles.

That could be the issue, I've played some in passing, maybe 4 of 5 of them but I've never really completed one. I was going to do full runs of the original Super games recently to correct this and I set it all up but then I totally forgot to play them. Maybe that type of Mario just isn't for me.

I don't find SM3DW challenging really just annoying when I lose my "bigness" from being hit. I think I need a different mindset, I want to "clear" everything and I often get hit because I'm trying to kill all the baddies or just general arsing around. I think the problem I have with 2D marios and SM3DW is that I find it hard to play first runs of levels in any games in the way these games want to be played, ie running through them like an obstacle course as you said. I always want to take my time in games.

I think its best to try it again on Switch with my main squeeze in Feb, its probably totally different in coop because its more about playing together than clearing it.

I bought the Wii U bundle that came with this game. It’s probably my favorite Mario game next to Super Mario World. It looks amazing on the Wii U too.

If the extra content is just a few hours long then i'll pass on this for sure. 3D World was fun but getting the green stars, stamps and flagpoles was a massive chore
