Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game: 5 Things WE WANT

BadBurger

Is 'That Pure Potato'
I only want two things:

1. Third person
2. Sections where it breaks away from third person to briefly emulate a point-and-click game in some novel way as a homage to the old games

I assume that since they're collaborating with LucasFilms Games the heart and soul of Indiana Jones will be there.

People keep posting this to try and stir up negativity, but this guy is actually super stoked for the game if you watch the vid.
His main point is that no one under 30 cares about Indiana Jones, and to be fair he's probably right. A good thing then that gaming is much more an adult medium than a kids medium these days, and the average age of a gamer was 38 a couple of years ago, according to polls if you Google it.
The amount of threads on forums, and Youtube vids made about this announcement shows that a lot of people care.

hoping they get Harrison to voice it but he does not really do voice acting roles ...hes done a total of 2 voice roles with the third credited role was simply extracted from the movie
you also need to factor in the cant be fucked factor...he could phone it in like Bruce Willis has for the past 10 years

I want to be able to play exclusively as his daughter and every time Indy shows up I want him to fuck up. I want the story to be an intense breakdown of why I should never have liked the films in the first place and why everything about Indy is toxic and a relic of the past.

The biggest question I have will this be the same shitty writing as the new Wolfenstein games? This style so does not fit to indy. Otherwise 3rd poerson for sure. Not shooter like but more adventure with many puzzles and less focus on combat. Just like in the movies^^

I know Indy was around long before Nathan but I can't see how they can pull off a good game without it feeling like an Uncharted clone.

Honestly this shit is everything wrong with modern gaming. A new title is announced and 2 minutes later we get the onslaught of influencers and their "WE WANT THIS STUFF" content. How about just letting the studio deliver their vision and being excited for whatever that turns out to be.
Something tells me these influencers are trying to test the waters for ideas that the publisher wants to know if people will hate or not.

People stressing about Machinegun Games' ability to make a 3rd person game (if that's the direction they will take) have probably forgotten what sort of games other studios have made before trying something different, like say...just picking a name at random, here...Guerilla Games before they decided to create Horizon.

Machinegun Games' "DNA" isn't solely derived from FPS.

I have no idea why people are so obsessed with Indiana being another Tomb Raider clone. Can't it be something new? Indiana Jones should be more puzzle adventure game anyway.

Story-wise:
They're probably going to have to do a new story and not re-tread the plots of the first 3 movies. Although, I would want familiar characters to return as well as introducing new characters.

Gameplay-wise:
I think 3rd person has to be the way to go. Basing it off the Uncharted model wouldn't be a bad idea but they'd have to try and make it less about gun fights and more about puzzle solving & platforming.

I really hope it isnt all climbing sections - I think I speak for everyone when I say crouch hopping up and along cliff faces while the voice actor grunts endlessly isn't impressive anymore.

Of course I expect an element of perilous traversal... its Indiana Jones, jungle canyon rope bridges, fights on trains etc. You need that to capture the cinematic feel. But personally I hope the puzzle elements are strongly presented

Nathan Drake will always be favored over Indiana Jones, age seems to be Indiana Jones’ final straw and they weren’t really willing to give the franchise to another star.

It was supposed to be Shia.....but that movie was so bad they had to ditch that idea.

Indiana Jones is much more well known and he can be young in the game.
