Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

I really like Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. It even has a good selection of arcade games on it. Anyone else enjoy this gem on the PS3 and Xbox 360?
Yeah, it's great. Much better than Genesis collection on PS4/X1. There there's some input lag and some games have broken sound like on Streets of Rage 3.

PS3 Collection wins hands down, hell even ps2 one is better.

Have it on ps3.
It has sonic 3.

absolute shit way to play sonic 3
Latency is crazy in these ports.
Avoid.

It may have some latency in the arcade ports, but I bought and played it for Shining Force and Phantasy Star series anyways........

Which reminds me.....

SEGA, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND MAKE ANOTHER OFFLINE PHANTASY STAR!!!

do it yes GIF by Collider

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I haven't played this but I like the Sega Genesis Classics Collection. I've played that on Switch.
I have the PS3, PS4 and Switch versions of the classics.

One thing that makes the Switch version the most inferior one is because they removed the Wonder Boy titles there for no apparent reason.

It has Sonic 3.

Don’t tell the MJ estate.
It's mainly a dispute regarding royalties with those that are actually credited in the game.

Releasing Hard Times with Ice Cap on the cover was one of the recent provocations i would say.

I played the PS3 version a lot, and I think I got the platinum back when I cared about that sort of thing. I got to play lots of games I never finished, and with the help of a few save states I finished some that were a bit of a pain.

I got pretty good and Mean Bean Machine at one point, but that muscle definitely would have atrophied by now.

It was cool to unlock the arcade ports of games, even if they were only played as curiosities. I remember Altered Beast being too high quality, and when it lacks any of its classic SFX it loses so much of its charm.

I didn't know Sonic 3 had input problems. I wonder if it is fine in Sonic Mega Collection Plus? I got that too. I need to fire up my PS2 slim.

Hated, not because the collection inself, but the port quality are terrible. And the amount of input latency those games have are abysmal.

I beat Sonic games without even get the emeralds.

I had it on 360 and hate it. Absurd imput delay and bad image quality.
And the games choice weren't to my taste, I barelly had the courage to play those games.

As far as I know, it's the only Genesis collection that has ALL the Sonic Genesis game, including Spinball, Knuckles, 3, 3D Blast, and Dr Robotnik's Bean Machine. At least one of these is missing from the other collections. I don't the recent PS4/X1 Genesis collection even has all the mainline Sonic games (missing 3+Knuckles I think...)

Sonic Mega Collection Plus definitely has all those on PS2 + Xbox

I just play em on a Genesis + old CRT in my basement. Every one of these game collections has its flaws, whether its input lag or games missing.

I try to play my favorites in their best form, if it is reasonable / in my grasp to do so.

That said, it's great to have these collections, I just hope for that magical day when a collection knocks it out of the park with all aspects (emulation, lag, options, game selection, etc).

That is why I love M2 (sorry for going slightly offtopic). They treat each game with amazing care. M2's SEGA collections on the Nintendo 3DS -- even though they have much smaller groups of games on each collection -- are top notch. Sonic the Hedgehog w spindash on the M2 collection is my preferred way of playing that game, even t hoguh I also have the original Genesis cart.

It's really great. I played quite a few games to completion for the first time on it, among them were Shining Force 1 & 2 and Beyond Oasis. Sega was such a brilliant and versatile studio in the 16 bit era. I still love their Sonic games, but from my perspective, there has never again be a time where both major console manufacturers had such a grand line up of vrilliant games for a great variety of tastes (and including mine). The Collection is an amazing value, too.

Once you've played Streets of Rage 4 its pointless to even think about Streets of Rage 3, especially seeing as the western version is inferior to what got released in Japan, and ontop of that I'd rather play the fan remake on the PC which is how Streets of Rage 3 should have been...when you see games like Sonic 3D and Ecco, you kind of think it would be great to play the Sega Saturn/Mega CD versions instead if they ever came out on a collection..

I thought the problem was that S&K and Sonic 3 aren't linked so you can't play whatever the lockon version of S&K and Sonic 3 is called.

Why can't we have a Genesis collection with the third party games like Psygnosis (Shadow of the Beast) , Ballistic (Star Control), EA (Strike series), Bullfrog (Populous)...there are so many. We keep getting the same Sega stuff over and over and over again.

I was more into the Mega CD towards the end of the Megadrive's life, so I missed out on a lot of later day classics such as Shinobi 3, Sonic 3&K, SoR3, Phantasy Star 4 ect. I had a great time playing through them all for the first time on my 360. All the unlockables were a nice bonus too.

It's funny hearing people complain about the sound, input lag, emulation etc, because to be honest I didn't notice any of those problems at the time. Nowadays, I'll use a PC emulator if the original hardware isn#'t available.

It was probably my most played PS3 "game", it's also the only collection I know of that has all the Phantasy Star games.

From memory I completed PS1, 2 and 4 on it, Shining in the Darkness, Shining force 1 & 2... played a decent amount of Shinobi III, not so sure I played the others more than once or twice.

That’s funny, played this just the other day. The emulation is aight but lacks options. There is input lag but it isn’t as bad as some of the worst offenders. But I got it mainly to check out phantasy star and shining force anyway.
Bah. My PS2 slim is not reading the disc for some reason.
Tried pushing down the lid? That is a common problem, easily fixed.

Yes.

But I'm also tired of Sega re-releasing that era of games. Astro City Mini was a nice change of pace and I hope they release some Model 2 and Model 3 games...

I love Sonic but man, I suck so much at these games. I'm not sure what it is about Sonic but I've never been able to get a handle on it.

Anybody remember those Midway Arcade Treasures games as well? They were some absolute classics on those. I spent so many hours on those.
