I can somewhat sympathise with this. Those people did themselves no favours. I don't think you have done yourself any favours either.

I mean your posting history is shocking for someone who considered themselves a "gaming fanboy", you come across as very upset with Sony and their fans and it's quite blatant you're a staunch supporter of Microsoft.

When being considered such a Microsoft fanboy by the many on here, it's hardly surprising that people cast doubt on your issues especially when you often antogonise fans of a certain system.

It's shocking for anyone to make a statement that is not completely complementary of Sony or PlayStation here. Those fans outnumber any other fans here. Just because all of my comments aren't 'Sony is the best' doesn't make me any less of a gaming fan. At least I own the consoles I comment on. Many here comment of stuff they have no idea about.

Sony issues that affect me negatively bothers me. Again you have no say of what bothers me or anyone else. This is especially true if my issue isn't something that bothers you. We are all entitled to our opinions.

It's more "shocking" in the sense of how one sided your posts are, especially when you claim to be a gaming fanboy and platform isn't important.

A quick scan through some posts and it's obvious you don't like Sony, you dislike their games, Demon's Souls is a 13 year old game with a new lick of paint so not a new game, the UI is bad, hardware is bad, their customer service isn't good but at least the "woman reluctantly agreed to take it back", the Sony fans attack the Xbox fans all the time.

It's very transparent and users here are well aware of it. For what it's worth I don't doubt you have a PlayStation 5 (it would be incredibly, incredibly sad to fake that afterall) but you clearly don't like Sony, especially their followers so unless you're in denial should drop that pretence that you views are balanced as they are anything but.

It's all strawman argements. Again I challenge you to point out a single post where I said I hated Sony or that their hardware is bad. These are the statements Sony fans make against MS and Xbox all the time. Gamers don't need to resort to emotional outbursts. The talk of 'allegiance' and hate seem so elementary. This is a tech topic afterall. Where are the discussions about the grey goop missing in the PS5 PSU and why Sony decided to forgo its use?

I am a Sony customer and I've purchased every home console they've made AND a PSP. I made my comments about Demons Souls a game I bought twice once on PS3 and 5 and it is the same game with better graphics. No one can say they game isn't possible on the PS4. I never said it was a bad game. Sony is a good game company and they make good games. Some of their policies suck and the quality control of the PS5 appears lacking a bit in my personal experience.

You are right on one point though. I'm not a fan of Sony fans who make ridiculous statements about a system they don't like and don't own. It is more sad than anything. One of my best friends is a HUGE Sony fan. I helped him get a console day 1. Of course he also picked up an XSS so I guess he too is more of a gamer than anything else. This is a gaming forum so unless you can point out a statement I made that is false there isn't much of a debate.

There is no post of me saying I hate the PlayStation or anything resembling that you are imagining it. As for me being triggered isn't that when a happy birthday thread for Phil Spencer is filled with Sony fans attacking him? You're right though plenty to happy about and it is quite a pleasure to read the vitriol from people who don't a platform but must opine. I'm quite happy to be a gaming fanboy if I have to be anything. You might not have been here long but I have and I've witnessed the Xbox hate for years.

I have listened to 3 PS5 units lately, and all have easily audible variable coil whine that is easy to hear up to 7-8m (aka as far as there is room).

Even when sounds are on, not on mute.

Even switch fan is audible up to 4-5m

Assuming all units have similar coil whine, the variable is environment + personal hearing levels.

"Noisy" to one is "silent" to another person, noise is subjective.

PS5 coil whine is "sharp" so it pierces easily other noises + is more annoying than "Blunt" noises.

My PS5 is fucking annoying at night, but noise canceling headphones fix it. With my HT setup it is too annoying at low night volume levels.

My personal thing is that I get really easily annoyed by sounds i dont like, and I just cant "not to hear them".

To another person my ps5 could be silent.

(3 friends hsve heard same 3 units and all say it is kind of annoying)

When people talk about noise and have no education etc = there are lot of misconceptions.

I have education of noise & environmental noise, been measuring noise ad a job + now I am acoustic engineer at new job.

While I dont know everything, I know enough to tell:

I think you need to know that headphones on PS5/PS4 could suffer from low-moderate volume, it's a major issue if you were in the headphones for PS5 thread. When I'm on PC, I can't stand more than 35% and that's already loud. I'm more than sure I don't have hearing issues. What's happening here is that your consoles are probably louder, as I said before as my video doesn't discredit others with louder coil whine. I have other friends also suggest what I'm saying, and even mine if you go across the room you can barely hear a thing when it's 100% quite, 2 meters it's very, very low. In my case I have zero problems anyway as already my 2 ton AC has enough ambient noise to totally cover it even without any volume/headset.

It depends on the console, I've seen videos that you can hear the coil whine from far away. I must say I've never used rest mode, I didn't use it last gen except for downloading a game when internet speed was shit. My room is mostly cold/cool around 18-25C. My CPU on my PC registers 26-31C most of the time, and my naked NVMe m.2 SSD is around 35-41C which is overall very cold without a heatsink. So even if you are in a cold country when you have a heater that could effect your electronics. Of course, coil whine has nothing to do with this but we tend to get pretty silent PS4's as my PS4 Pro is still silent since 2016 and only seen one loud PS4 out of like 100's. There are 3 factories.

lol actually she asked me to reuse Astro A40 as it has fabric that leaks all sounds, even from the headset itself. I'm using Pulse 3D.

Mine is similar, it is not really coil whine but like the sound of that plastic label like thingy seemingly hitting the fan a bit. Not the sea breakers some people make it out to be. The consoles mostly purrs like a kitten: both XSX and PS5 are quite quiet.

Coil whine would change in pitch as the load and frequency in the console changed.

Yeah heard about that if you make it stand tall it goes away = label doesn't hit the fan blades. It's not audible enough to bother and open and try to cut that plastic off. Maybe some have flabby labels that grind louder = more noise?

The only whine sound I get is my external HDD hooked to the PS5, otherwise the console itself has been running quiet to the extent where I literally have to place my ear on the console and still don't hear it running sometimes.

They need to push All Stars Destruction too, it could be a winner for Plus like Rocket League and Fall Guys were in the past. I'm not even saying it will be the same fever ofc, just it could estimulate the community to actually play the damn thing lol

We need a Ratchet realease date and it wouldn't hurt to actually see what to expect this first half from Sony and 3rd party overall.

But I said something like "Some Xbox fans shouted all year that the Xbox was going to be way more powerful, it wasn't, they look dumb. Zzzzzzz" in the nextgen thread.

I hadn't read this thread in a month and I came back to see the same boring ass "console warring" about Twitter talking heads and how dumb they look. I was.. complaining about console warring. If saying people like Dealer or whatever Twitter idiot "looks dumb" is console warring here..

I do not understand why actual console warring, the constant bashing of "the Xbox fanbase" using Twitter talking head morons is allowed here while me complaining about it gets a warning. Maybe my post was misunderstood. Mod of War Mod of War

Had my first major crash today on my PS5.

Was playing Spider Man Remastered and in the middle of a cutscene video froze while audio continued for abour 3-4 seconds and then it turned into a high pitched noise and stuck there, with the frozen video and buggy constant noise. Console was totaly irreponsive.

Had to manually remove it from power outlet to reset it.... after that it was working fine.

Does anyone already experienced something similar?

While I'm not arguing about the warning I believe deleting the post makes everything too confuse.
It already happened to me and I did not know which post I received the warning.
It is something I believe they can improve.

BTW that is more appropriated to Ban Thread I believe.

There is "sort of" PS2 BC inside ps4. It has been reported time ago and hide in the OS by sony. If you search on the net there are a bunch of sources about it. It's limited but is there.
I can't find any source on Google anymore but I'm quite sure to have readen somewhere about the PS2 emulation (software of course) in the PS4 OS.
