Little Devil Inside - 18 mins of new (?) gameplay video

Not sure how this was not posted yet, came across this recently uploaded compilation of footage from multiple "test builds" of the game, some marked as "not cleared for the public"?

Premiered on the Playstation 5 showcase, "Little Devil Inside" is an indie "exploration focused survival action RPG"

My guess is a lot of it is Kickstarter backer footage glued together. I have seen clips with some of it before, while the rest looks brand new.

New material starts approx 2.5mins in after the trailer and showcases:

- exploitation and traversal
- hunting
- combat - big and small
- gear, outfits
- survival mechanics
- resource management
- bosses?
- day night cycle mechanics
- open-world exploration
- winter forest, desert, underwater environments
- mounts and mounted combat
- NPC interactions, dialog
- a merchant

Some of it still looks pretty rough but given enough polish this could really come together as something special. One of my top AAs on the radar for 2021 for sure.

The UI is so bad, I ope they'll make it more readable because when it isn't tiny, it's both semi-transparent and thin. Who thought this.

Other than that, looks very interesting and will follow with curiosity.

This game's kickstarter was uh.... bit controversial and still is. They pretty much took the money, became silent for years barely posting an update, then found a publisher, and then they went to Sony for more cash and visibility. I wish them well and hope the game turns out good, but this ain't a pretty look to me

I don't know anything about this but, from your summary, Kickstarter effectively kickstarted the project.
So it worked?

Really? The only controversy I have heard was that they were labeled "racist" for some rasta looking enemies BS.
According to wiki they publish themselves, not sure about the Sony move either as the game is multiplatform PS-PC-Xbone-Nintendo, including Wii U

I love the art and it looked like an exploring/survival game with several biomes. This game now has my attention.

so basically you want this project to fail, because 3 kids from Korea making this game gave in under the barrage of REEEE outrage army, cancel mobbing them all over social media for "problematic" design of a single in-game enemy

Yeah. Could have just as easily told them to go fuck themselves instead of apologising and trotting out the usual we'll do better bullshit.

Fuck them.

I had forgot about this. Really dig the look of the game. Will probably just wait on the timed exclusivity to be up.

This is old, and maybe changed ,, but some of the UI elements appear to be straight copies from Below, and the inventory looks very similar. It's old footage, but I don't care if they copy.. [edit - the game is so old maybe Below copied them ??]

I mean .. the WiiU backers probably have some questions (now exclusive to Playstation..) .. I know kickstarter isn't a contract, but ..
(2015 btw)

Fair enough.
Making the game come out on Switch should be a logic compromise. Not perfect but... I mean... Wii U.

Admittedly I'm surprised.
I was pretty confident this would turn out to be one of these "cool concept videos" that never manage become actual videogames in the end.
Instead it seems like they are close to release it at this point.

This game looks dope. I don't usually like Indie games, but this is a quality title. I'll have to see how it looks on release.

I loved the trailer, made me laugh and had a lot of style.

But this is not the type of game I was expecting it to be... thought it would be a tight narrative driven game.

I'll keep following it, but eh, not optimistic it will be for me.

Really digging this, mm, not so much the survival mechanics though.. i was expecting this to be a bit of a unique title.. incorporating all that Terraria, etc, stuff is a bit worrying for me.. i wanna get on with exploring and progressing... I hope that's still the main deal. But yeah, i like the sound design, the aesthetics, combat looks pretty cool.. hope it turns out well.. intrigued that it's from Korea? If i remember correctly

I think the company started in Australia - Kody Lee (creative)and John Choi (business) sound like chinese-australian names to me, but apparently are legit korean names too .. then moved to Korea (reasons?) - it seems the game is following the Korean MMO trend of "shoehorn absolutely every mini game mechanic you can think of" ..

Another thing it has in common with Korean games in the wait. Last one I was interested in was Kingdom under Fire 2 - supposed to come out on the xbox360 in 2009, trailers for ps4 version in 2014, launched in west 2019 (no ps4 or 360 version) in 2019.

LDI's artstyle is like nothing I've seen out of Korea though.

I’m very interested. It seems a little like Below to me. I was super hyped for that game and then it finally came out, and I barely played it.

It only occurred to me now how strange the title of the game is.
I wonder if it refers to some specific feature or story part, or if it's something more metaphorical.
