KotOR is my favourite game of all time, but I'm apprehensive about a remake since it's too easy to mess it up. Hope it goes well though.

A remake would be fantastic. That game has been ported like crazy.
If it is in the quality of AAA games like Resident Evil 2 Remake I'm in.

Put down those drugs and play Shadow of the Colossus or the Master Chief collection.

Mcc took a LOOOONG time before it was any good tho. Lmao at putting that up as a shining beacon.

They're apparently working on both - ports of original KotOR 1 and 2 similar to their recent games and a reimagined game that will be part of the current canon.
Great, because that's not gonna be confusing as fuck canon-wise!

Also, why are we allowing bigoted hatesites as source for anything?

TBF, Reach wasn't a remake, it's a 2010 360 game ported to PC. Halo 2 Anniversary, along with SOTC, are the golden standard for bringing a game up to modern visual snuff.

RE2 is great too.

Saw on the Xbox Rewards App, one of todays featured games is KOTOR II. Just thought it was interesting to see it featured of all games.

It’s for sure a remake, the game is already in a state thats easy to port to anything and everything (hell its available on phones)

The mind-boggling fuckup of EA not having Bioware do KOTOR 3 while they still had the exclusive liscence is staggering. You had a decade of exclusivity to the most valuable IP in history at the time, and all you did was shit out two alright shooters, a space sim inferior to what was made 26 fucking years ago, and a pretty good 3rd person action adventure game that was only good because EA kept their paws out of it long enough for Respawn to do its thing.

How does a company with one of the greediest reputations in the games industry take Star Wars and not milk the ever-loving shit out of it?

Other than the new writer taking over, that's what SWTOR was supposed to be

I thought they did mobile games

Aspyr Media has been around for ages (1996.) They're established and capable, though pretty much only do port development; for the first span of existence, they were the company that ported over pretty much every Mac game that came from PC, now they're doing a lot of PC-to-mobile releases as well as some console remasters. (They also published at least one original game, Stubbs the Zombie on the original Xbox.)

Them doing a KOTOR "remaster" for consoles would probably be fine. Not great, but fine. Them doing a remake has me nervous. Then again, apparently Aspyr is now owned in the same studio group as Saber Interactive, so they may have help within the family.

I understand that, but the MMO and single player RPG crowd are a Venn Diagram that will never be a circle. Beyond that though, there are dozens of possible generas they could have pumped out. Remake Podracer, do a smugglers game like a scaled down single player Elite Dangerous with additional 3rd person gameplay, let Amy Hennig make her damn game, etc.

"Star Wars Fatigue" only exists because Disney put out a shitty product until they decided to pull their head out of their ass with The Mandalorian. Make compelling videogames, and the sales will come.

So the KotoR story will find it's way into the SW canon again? Hmm...

Disney's handling of the IP is really something else. Take shit out, then put it back in... Way to go.

Wait it’s a remake? Thought it was a reboot?

They made Reven canon with the last film iirc.

See it become a full on action game. "People dont like those old mechanics anymore" - man, that would suck.
