Italian game studio, they do Ride, MotoGP, and Monster Energy SuperCross. Also made the offroad trucking game Gravel a bit ago, and they did the WRCs for a while (also Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo) before Kylotonn.

Playground did a great game in the Forza Horizon 3 DLC, but that was DLC, this is a full product, and Microsoft probably wouldn't be the company that would lock down the license for Hot Wheels for anything but a fun side-project. (Also, they went with LEGO instead of Hot Wheels in FH4, I'm not sure if that's coincidence or has something to do with why a new company is working with the brand right now.)

Is Playground making this!?!?!?!??!

No, new company with the Hot Wheels brand.

Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver was my JAM when I was 9.
nah man Hot Wheels Tubro Racing on PS1! THAT WAS THE SHIT!

Why not both?

Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver is attractive even today with good scaling (albeit it's FMV, so its limitations and frustrations are clear to see, but it's one of the more capable-playing FMV-based games made.)

(Game from 1998)

I wonder if Hot Wheels is one of those secret-good licensed game franchises? I know there's a Hot Wheels DS game by the team that did the portable TrackManias, maybe other Hot Wheelses are good too? Maybe not?

Revealed.

Not a good thing that they're announcing it with no in-game footage or screenshots... the product description sounds like it could be something, but we need to see if it's got enough to play over just going back to Forza 3 Hot Wheels DLC.

I was just about to post this.

No footage is an annoying trend especially in a racing game and Milestone's history is a mixed bag of almost exclusively motorcycle-based games. More recent releases like Ride 4 and MXGP 2020 have been questionable. Earlier releases in the same series like Ride 3 and MotoGP '20 were very good though.

I'm hoping this release ends up in the good side. I loved the Hot Wheels expansion in Forza Horizon 3 and always thought there was huge potential for a dedicated Hot Wheels game using the Forzatech engine. FH3 was missing the ability to make custom tracks, you could swap out certain track elements in the map like the stunt sections, but the overall track layout was set in stone.

Fingers crossed on this one.
