Today I killed my PS4 Pro and don't regret it one bit

One X and Series X don't make much noise. Series S must be the same, even quieter.

I tend to strongly dislike when consoles make a lot of noise. I play with low volume, that's how I like to play. I also like my Wii U for this. It does not make too much noise.

OP, I don't know why are you so proud of it? If you were that "frustrated" over fan noise then maybe you should take a break and go outside and get some fresh air.

I've been using my Pro lately as I got LOU2 and the noise is not as bad as in some games but I put up with it for certain games.
But I'm astonished how slow the dashboard as become, takes forever to see who's online an trophies etc, I'm not joking when I say the launch XB1 dash is leagues ahead when looking at the same type of stuff.
Anyway I tried to download Outriders demo (any demo) and I'm getting the message. "your last sign in was on a different console. Please verify credit/debit card on your account to continue"
Has anybody had this, I have never signed into another PS4, only the store on my laptop, plus I deleted my card details the other week.

Imagine being emotionally distraught over someone unintentionally breaking their console that they paid for, with their own money. This thread has delivered lol.

Yep. Can see some PS warriors are out to defend the company honor when I criticise the cooling solution. It's sad really.

At least now I can game in silence and if I miss my Pro too much, I'll just run the vacuum cleaner 🤣
Really? Fuck you Sony, fuck you and your stupid hardware, I destroyed this shit. Fuck who doesn't say fuck with me, they are all fanboy. What kinda of intelligent criticism you think to lead using such argumentations? I could swear no one here has defended at all the loudness issue of the pro; I just see sarcastic posts about your overreaction but what did you expected?

You asked me what insults and i showed you.
And I explained to you what's the reason behind such "insults". It's not like people insult him without reasons. He could resell it or give for free to a friend his pro, for example. It's not like the hardware doesn't work. I mean if you did something of stupid, of course people laugh at your stupidity.

Long story short I fucked up the power supply connector accidently while trying to pry it loose with pliers. Instead of the connector loosening, the whole fucking connector to the board just fell off.
Take it to a technician. That doesn't sound too bad, as long as after it's fixed you never touch it again with pliers.
But yeah it does seem to be a common point of failure. Some people have advised soldering but not keen on even trying to fix this one. I do appreciate the info though. Ive just lost interest in this console to be honest. Been thinking about opening up to clean it again for the longest time now and today I got especially frustrated with the noise.
That's a fine ass console still, and lots of people would give a kidney for it.

Fix it and sell it, or sell it as is. It's definitely salvageable.

He said to have broken his hardware intentionally, we should praise such attitude?
Now where did I say I broke it intentionally. Some of you are seriously fucked up.
Care to point out where in my post did I mentioned that I broke this pin intentionally.
If you can't, then shut the fuck up.

OP fucked up. But he’s right about Sony’s hardware. It’s been trash as of late.
Yes it's my fault for the mistake I made today. Should have taken to technician but I successfully cleaned and reapplied thermal paste before so thought it would be a walk in the park this time.
Sony has great games but trash hardware. Not even PS1, PS2 or PS3 was this loud in operation.

Series S is not even 1080p gaming.

Don't make that mistake 🙏
Christ man. I don't care. I will eventually get a PS5. I just want to be on another platform for now. I donr want another PS4 Pro neither do I want a PS4 slim.

My PS games are still there and I'll continue that on PS5.

Btw this thread is great. I appreciate those that suggest alternatives to just giving up ony Pro. Those that seek to insult or do the old driveby shitpost will get placed on ignore 😁

Xbox fanboys are giving him a welcoming one. Publicly announcing he destroyed one of the other consoles is a pretty big display of commitment to the Xbox cause.
The 'Xbox cause'? Is this a joke post?
I'd hope this is just a joke post.

It's the thread title, it implies what they're jumping at.
Um, Nah 🤣. It's people just trolling. Nothing about the thread title implies I intentionally destroyed my own console. I don't have regrets it broke because I was frankly just tired of the noise levels. It seemed to have found another 1000rpm today after I fired up Call Of Duty.
I've had my partner ask me countless times if my console fans should be running that high cause she can hear it in the other room.

Good thing PS5 seems to be running decently but hoping there will be a hardware revision before I pick up one.

Sony's gear, not just their consoles, as great as it maybe on a technology level, has always been a bit suss on the build quality side.
Every bit of kit I have had from them seemed very strict about sticking to its built in timeline of obsolescence.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not here to stop you from going green, just saying try to find an X :)

Oh believe you me I'm checking every single day but there's only 2nd hand Series X for sale and north of $1000. Same with PS5.
When I pick up PS5 and get bored of my Series S, I'll just open it up to give it a clean 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haven't owned any other Sony gear to be able to commrnt on it but I've heard their products have improved in build quality in recent years especially their TV and Camera gear.

EDIT: Oh I do have a Sony A6400 mirrorless cam so that's good. No issues so far. I had wanted to open it up to remove the IR filter but ima skip on that excercise going by recent events 🤣🤣

Thanks. It's readily available here. PS5 and Series X is not.
I don't care for ultra super duper 4K gaming. I just want to game in relative silence and GamePass will save me a couple pennies until I get either of the two big boys (PS5 or Series X)
There's a good reason it's readily available

It's shit

If you are a COD player that storage is gonna hurt you big time

Yeah is 1080p blah blah. I know fella. Im good with that.

I'ma give COD a break for now though. The devs need better optimisation of that game. Soon we'll have a title breaching the 500GB mark. Can't imagine 1 game taking up half of 1TB.

I always just slowly wiggle the connector out by gently pulling the wire. I've cleaned/repaired my PS3s and PS4s many times this way without issue, those wires are pretty strong. I'd imagine it's difficult to be gentle and accurate with pliers, even though it's frequently recommended.

That said, it's probably not going to be that difficult to solder the connector back onto the board.

If they read the rest of the first post, yes. But I assume they are landing on the newest post/page and writing away.

It's driveby what you called it.

Well, not trying to meddle, but I do think Xbox Series S might be a good buy at this point.

Both PS5 and Xbox Series X are big consoles, I'm sure problems will pop up and revisions will improve them.

Newer Xbox Series X revisions will add Wifi 6 at some point, perhaps also nvme or pcie4 datapath to the SSD. Those are small improvements on paper but it's the Original Xbox 360 (no wifi, no hdmi) to more recent Xbox 360 models differential (also, Xbox One vs Xbox One S type of difference).

With PS5 I'm not too convinced that soldered SSD being used as fast cache won't be a failure point (just this week emerged that apple might be doing that on M1 macs and that depletes from the SSD lifespan), and the size is still unbelievable even if it's silent. Controllers can also improve, if they take current criticism and lawsuits to heart.

Xbox Series S? bound to stay the same, the only drawback apart from not being a flagship is that it lacks a Optical Drive, so everything you buy is a permanent investment. For some people it's easier to recoup costs (by selling games) with either a Xbox Series X or a PS5 with Optical Drive. It is the perfect Xbox Gamepass console though.

Man the level of hysteria around the PS4 pro loudness is something else. Yeah it's loud but all that rage, seriously?
Depends on which version you have - the original release could get obnoxiously loud although there did seem to be quite a bit of variation between units. The final release was generally OK, although it still seems quite sensitive to dirty fans.

True but it should be salvageable. There are people out there who fixed the issue themselves but I'll eventually just get it repaired or it will just be another ornament on my TV stand which I don't mind btw 🤣.

Will see if i feel it deserves to be fixed 🤣

I have the version before the last revision which I understand runs quieter. A friend has the latest PS4 Pro revision and his console always runs quieter than mine.
I had toyed with the idea of selling my my Pro to upgrade to latest version but can't be bothered really cause who's going to buy an old ass Pro when there are new consoles out.
Also it'd be an incremental upgrade on what I currently have.

EDIT: Can't be bothered to go check which version Pro I have 😩

Yep, it’s embarrassing how loud my launch PS4 and launch PS4 Pro became.

In fact, my PS5 is a lot louder playing PS4 games than my Series X is on Series X games. Which is even more laughable given the size of the PS5.

What a joke.

We are fucked up? Really? You destroyed your own console without know how to fix it (which absolutely work fine but noise is became the worst thing EVER, RROD was nothing in comparison) then you open a thread to claim you have not regret of it and you go to fuck all the world, people laugh at your hysterical thread but the other mind are fucked up? Ok

Man my Pro is load as hell in some games. It's annoying, yes. But now feel so outraged, go to fuck up a company and the whole world for this? I understood if it doesn't work but Jeez the fuck going on in some mind

There is never a rational reason to insult people because of a playstic toy, but each to their own.
I mean OP literally filled of insult everyone in this thread who laugh at him but you just noticed the playstation fanboy say dumbass to him. Respect works just in one side?

I find more laughable try to find out the level of loudness of 2 console just to do console war but maybe it's me the strange there
