Final Fantasy VII Remake Soundtrack sucks

I'm a huge FFVII fan, I believe it is the best game that I've ever played and a great part of that is because of how great the soundtrack is. I wasn't gonna play remake untill all the parts were released but since they put it on PS Plus then why not? So I'm 2 minutes in and the first thing I notice is the soundtrack, what the fuck happened? Why did they screw up the soundtrack like that? Specially "Let the battle begin", you know, that music that starts playing everytime you get into a fight? It completely sucks. It lacks the synthetic sounds, they changed to orchestra and it just doesn't hit the same way. While the original was powerful, the remake soundtrack is bland.

I just can't understand why would anyone decide to ruin such a big part of the game. Is there anyway to play with the original soundtrack instead of this garbage? Otherwise I think I'm just not gonna bother with it.

The soundtrack was the reason you could endure grinding so much lol.

It's probably for the distant world concerts. They are probably going to make a final fantasy 7 remake distant world concert tour after all of ff7r finally releases.

Only tracks I ever cared for would be Buried in Snow, Secret Sleeping in the Deep Sea, and Reunion. So, I hope it ends up being done in part two.
If Uematsu remakes Secret Sleeping in the Deep Sea sounding something like this:

Well, I think this would be more of an aggressive version. There could be a non-aggressive mix as well similar to how XIII-2 had multiple versions depending on whether you're exploring the field at peace or engaging in battle.

No the soundtrack is pretty good. Some of the new songs are not that great though. And your last comment about grinding is very confusing. There is zero need to grind in FF VII, be it the old one or the remake.

Also, you should probably brace yourself that this game is not the old FF VII but in fact a totally new game.

I havent been this disgusted by a thread title in a loong time

The soundtrack is fucking incredible.

More than 150 songs that are (most of the time) improved versions of some of the best songs in gaming

Easily one of the most impressive soundtracks of the generation

This is awesome, I've heard about this before!

WTF out of all the things you could’ve bashed Remake for, you picked the soundtrack?

To be fair though, I was too distracted by all the constant grunting and sighing to pay attention to the music.

Underneath the Rotting Pizza is a track in the remake that is pretty faithful to the original and sounds much better.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
The game's soundtrack was amazing. However, I personally didn't care for a lot of the "in-game" soundtracks (collectables you could find) because most of those songs were straight garbo.

LOL, I’m listening to it at this very moment and it’s very, very good.
Ghoulish Symphony (track 2-18) is outstanding.
I can agree a couple tracks did sound a little more incisive in their original, rawer version, and maybe there’s too many remixes of Aerith’s Theme, but the remake’s OST is impressive indeed.

The thing is, the soundtrack is one of the few things you don't need to change when making a remake.

I'm so confused

Don't be. It's pretty simple.

Preconceptions can have a very powerful impact in the way we perceive and critic things. In this case OP was influenced by feelings of a 25 year old game being the best in the world so obviously nothing short of exactly the same game would have been satisfactory. He was actively avoiding the game before because he knew it wouldn't be on par to what he feels about the original game.

I'm a big fan of the original. It's the first RPG I played all the way to the end. It changed the way I saw games. Pretty powerful stuff. I recently started playing the remake and I'm enjoying it for what it is. Fortunately it is not exactly what the OG was because by any objective metric that game has no place in modern gaming. It's not a game changer either. It is what I would imagine a baby between a Yakuza game and FFXV would be.

I'm on Chapter 6 since a free game is a free game. Anxious Heart sounds awful, most of the OST doesn't hit right but it isn't complete garbage. Under the rotting pizza is probably my favourite tune in the original game and it sounds like ass.

Jesus... actually you know what now I wish Resident Evil Remake didn’t change the soundtrack and kept that basement theme or whatever from the director’s cut.

What? So you think leaving the old music in there exactly as is would have fit the tone of the remake? I mean.... what!?

No dude, no. I don’t even know where to start here. The music has to to fit the tone of the game, and with the shiny new realistic graphics, you need shiny new realistic arrangements, or else it doesn’t fit and sticks out. It’s just basic uniformity. Leaving in the old midi (I think it was midi) tracks wouldn’t fit at all. It’d feel super weird and just be bizarre.

Should have had the option to buy in or unlock the original music like RE2 remake. Which also has shit music btw outside of HUNK and Tofu's themes.
