Did I “get gud” at Dark Souls?

IIRC you can get your weapon super high before O&S...like +10 or more if you get the ember after draining New Londo. You can farm the skeletor knights for chunks.

Hence why for no reason I spent 16k getting +6 on it. Yet I’ve ZERO idea how to “equip” it. The dude at fire link talked me into it. He was a great salesman.
It's like a weapon so you have to put it in one of your hands. It should be in your inventory as a hand on fire. Then you have to "attune" your spells at a bonfire. Attunement controls how many spells you can hold.

Which stairs, though? There are two sets of stairs, you want the stairs by the archer in the hall. The summon sign is on the half way point.

Scroll down past your weapons. If memory serves, it sits between weapons and shields. If not, it's at the bottom past the shields.
Oh damn. The summon sign isn’t by the fog door? Maybe Solarie was waiting for me after all. Wow. Ok then. I’ll see what’s up.

The dude in the barrel is the one who upgrades your pyromancy flame at Firelink (lol good point about his armour and weapons). He stays put and out of mischief for the better part of the game. If you upgrade your pryromancy flame to +10, another NPC will appear in Blightown. She, Quelana, can teach you the real heavy-hitting fire spells and upgrade your pyromancy flame to maximum. I think how it goes is if you buy one of her unique spells and then speak to the pyromancy dude at Firelink, he'll want to know where you got it. If you tell him, he disappears from Firelink and can be found later in Blightown in a pretty sad state.

Kirk would be an NPC with a red glow and a message appears stating you have been invaded. He looks just like the picture in my comment about the rewards for his quest. The thing is, once you kill the boss of an area - you can no longer be invaded. My apologies for not remembering to include that information. By the time I remembered, you had already killed the boss. You're too damn fast!
Hah. Oh well. The depths was WAY too easy. Took mere minutes to stroll through and whip their asses. Happy I wasn’t cursed. Although I’ve got like 3 purging stones anyhow.

I always let Onstein stay alive. The larger weapon can catch you while you roll. If you lock on to Ornstein you can basically bait his moves.

In case you are just looking in the wrong spot, Maddux...here's an image I googled showing where Solaire's sign is (right where he is standing.) If you're human he really should be there. Maybe try quitting out and reloading in the same place. It's the side of the hall that the black knight archer is on.

Nice. Never noticed. Always expected Him at the fog door for some reason. Probably means I’ll have to kill the big guys to get him summoned properly eh?

I'm afraid so - you can maneuver and avoid them but Solaire will attack any enemy he sees... you should clear out the area around him so he'll follow you to the boss instead of fighting them. He's not really a good fighter, more of a diversion

Exactly my thoughts. Gotta clear the room. Kinda sucks. But is what it is. I know I’ll get hit and die and boom. Lose my shot at O&S 😂

It used to be possible to summon him to clear the room then do an exit to menu/reload and then summon him again. No idea if that still works.

I’m 99% sure that you can use the Black Stone of Separation (or whatever it’s called) to send him home, then either immediately or with a quit out (learn to do that quickly, it might save you in a long fall) to have him “Put his sign down” again, as it were.

Fuck me. Had em. Killed S. Had Solaire AND an NPC (wasn’t aware my OG game could allow that) we were all decent health. I was good. Kinda sat back and attacked when needed. Then they both died and he swarmed my ass. Game over.

That wasn’t an NPC, that was a person

Kill Ornstein first, you’ll have an easier time in the super phase

yeah that's a real person. Nobody but Solaire is available NPC-wise.

Solaire should be enough help though. You can do this even if no one else shows up

SOMEONE HELP ME. Steam = Maddux1012000. Apparently I can get real humans lol
I'm reinstalling PTDE, I didn't realise it wasn't installed already. if you can't do it by the time I get in (hopefully I have a save near there) then I'm 100% in to help

Please.

I was happy. Me and that “dude” even “bowed” to each other. He gave up a great fight. We just lost. Simple as that ☹️

Yup. One of the best ways to learn a boss fight is to join someone else's game. That way you get experience without risking anything.

I had some rust to shake off, I managed to die twice before the boss. So it definitely wasn’t a one man army situation. (Probably doesn’t help running round half naked with a Washing Pole, it’s not the quickest of weapons.)

I get sucked back into this game so quickly. I just need to figure out why DSFix stops the game booting so I can play at 60fps again. Maddux4164 Maddux4164 I’ll let you know if I do. Even if you don’t want to play at 60fps you can at least throw a better resolution and some AA in there. Some of the equipment has detail that’s entirely lost at 720p rendering

We had a blast. Hopefully many more jolly co op situations in the near future for us Mate

Hope so. We sincerely had a ball. Now I’ve beaten O&S and have much more to go. But now I’ve got a warp and a monkey off my back.
Make sure you go see Frampt and place the lordvessel too. Certain areas of the game are locked until it is placed. I'd recommend Demon Ruins (reached from Daughter of Chaos bonfire) or Duke's archives as your next areas to explore, as you seem to have a really hard time in boss fights where you can end up fighting multiple enemies at once, which is what you'll be doing in New Londo (where you drained the water) and Tomb of Giants (area after Pinwheel, the catacombs boss.) You probably want to wait until you are at least level 80 before you do the DLC as well.

I was watching a new guy trying to go from the depths to blight and getting repeatedly clubbed over the head by a fatty. So eventually I says to him that it's easier if he lures fatty to ladder and attacks from above. He got all uptight about it and gave me a lecture on cheesing. I was going to reply that the game is literally telling him to do it, otherwise there wouldn't be a platform and the fatty wouldn't stand beneath it, but there wasn't any point in arguing with the guy. So I sat eating a hot dog watching him repeatedly getting clubbed or rolling to his death while he got more and more frustrated. It was funny as shit. Finally he took my advice, killed the fatty, gave a triumphant yell and ran face first into the 2nd one. Rage quit.

Beating DS1 without cheesing is admirable but hilarious. I don't get why some people insist on doing things the hard way then act surprised when things become difficult.

I'll give him credit for trying. At least he wasn't one of those glitchers who abuse dupes then spend their days invading the Undead

Honestly I admire that too. It's all part of the experience, being invaded by some guy dressed like sonic the hedgehog and being punched through the floor. Welcome to dark souls, bitch.

What’s worse is he will eventually realise that all he needed to strafe like a muthafucka, no cheese necessary

So true. The game WANTS you to lure his fat ass. Although now, I simply run past em all. But in a first every play through, I fought em.

Yep. Running works on 99% of folks and situations.

Course, much harder to build up souls that way. But def works.

On a first playthrough few will likely do that simply Bc they don’t know where they are and etc

unless if you mean lure him to attack… dodge and hit him in the back. That works too.
