I enjoy Lego and building them, I thought some of you would as well. It would be cool to have a place where we could show off our builds and discuss Lego news, and sets.

I will start off with my build I just finished. Lego Bonsai Tree.

Love me building some Lego.

I'm amazed at the size and price of some of the newer sets.. like 800 euro. Still awesome stuff though, Lego Technic has always been my jam.

Not really into Legos usually, but we did have some of the family over Christmas put together the Death Star in the game room.

GuyKazama GuyKazama Is that the Racor Crest? Funny that they included a Scouttrooper specifically. Make sure to show the finished build, I'm intruiged to see what it looks like!

I think it is a cool idea, but I think they are more likely to do a Legend of Zelda set over Metroid. Nintendo would also not share profits with the person on the ideas submission, so that probably makes it untenable in a contract from Lego. As Lego give 2% to the creator in Ideas.

Metroid has a more consistent setting/ aesthetic, though. I love Zelda, but Hyrule and its landmarks are all over the map (literally). You’re left having to create a generic village/castle with Zelda characters.

I think Metroid and Animal Crossing are more ripe for a Lego set.

That’s what I’m referring to, yes.

Turtle rock, the Great Deku tree, or a fairy fountain would’ve been better choices than standard mid evil castle with village.
Can't quite agree since Lego hasn't had a proper Castle theme on shelves since 2013 now and AFOLs are desperate for some standard medieval sets, but I see where you're coming from.

Yes, let's hope that it will be the beginning of a new medieval theme finally. Can never have enough knights 😄

When I was a young whippersnapper I thought this thing was just the coolest:

Never got it sadly
I had this one though:

Which was friggin awesome as well. Could learn about pneumatic and it had that chain, all so cool.

What do y’all’s backlogs look like?

I still need to finish the TV portion of the NES set, the Batmobile, Large Ecto 1, Ghostbusters Firehouse and Palace Theatre.

Mine is over a $1000 in unbuilt sets. I will get them out and take a picture.

Remember when you just had to guess which bags to open.

Then opened all and sorted by colour of course!

No matter how many numbered bags, I do it the old school style. I open up every bag (even the small accessory ones) and dump them all in a wide shallow box or directly on the carpet, and start like that. Thats how I did it when I was a kid, and I think those numbed bags make them too easy. Running your hands over piles of legos on teh carpet looking for that one small piece instantly takes me back to childhood.

LOL @ Lego backlogs. Never heard of such a thing. The only unopened set I have is the Friends set, just waiting for the chance when my kid is away so I can do that one alone, in peace.

I also have some complete Model club sets I did when I was a kid, in bags, and I will give them to my son later (I already gave him one).

I've never heard of a Lego backlog either. We get it, then build it within days. A colleague of mine at work just did the Taj Mahal and the Coliseum. They are huge!

Damn nice. I got my wife the Trevi Fountain one for Christmas as we have been there in real life. Its pretty small, a fun set, but we might resell that one as those keep their value.

I mostly do Star Wars USC sets so I'm perseverating on the Cantina. The Star Destroyer is just too much, plus I already have the SSD and the MF for my massive builds. Will still probably get it if I start building again though :p All I really want is a Tie Interceptor, another of those Speeder Bike scouttrooper releases, and maybe the Tie advanced. Then I would have all the OT things I care about. A really nice Jabba's palace and sail barge rerelease would also be tempting. About the only other sets I collect are real world space ones and Batman, so a USC '66 batmobile would be dope as would some Space X rockets and the Hubble.

Wasn't interested in Lego and stuff but I have to say, building shit with my oldest daughter is fun as hell. She's four and a half and our babies are crawling around, so we only use those big Duplo pieces. Still, we build all kinds of things.

I also enjoy watching a new TV series in my country, Lego Masters. Where teams compete against each other, solving tasks with different mottos etc. Very impressive and enjoyable to watch.

While I wouldn't build a lot myself due to lack of time and because I want to spend the little free time I have for different hobbies, I can see the appeal and am kinda interested in it. Some of the Star Wars stuff looks amazing.

I love legos but they just cost way too much in my opinion. Worth it for the yunggins in my family though because they can play with them endlessly.

I love how this hobby periodically fades away, only to come back in full force a few years later lol

And everytime I jump back into Lego Star Wars, I regret how the sets I've missed were better than the stuff they're currently putting out. The only current thing that interests me is the AT-AT. It's a nice set, if you can get it for a good price.
The Cantina is also nice, but I wouldn't have the space.

But that Imperial Shuttle for 80 bucks? You can't fool me, Lego. The previous one was more expensive, but way better value. Same for that ATT, which is so small you might as well not even assemble it.
Years ago I had the same dance with the MTT, which was also objectively worse than the one that came before it. And Jabba's Barge.. it just never ends.
And what's with these """Battle Packs""" that have the figure you actually want like only once? Don't mind if I scoop up some figures from bricklink instead

Looking for some older sets on ebay rn, mostly stuff from when Rogue One was out. They had so many cool sets back then, I sadly had to pass up on a lot of them. Also wasn't really aware of the pretty huge discounts retailers use to give.
