GameSpot: Seven Years In, Phil Spencer Has Succeeded Immensely In Helping Xbox Turn Things Around

It would be stupid to assume the majority of Game Pass subscribers took advantage of converting three years of gold to Game Pass because it's just that - an assumption. There's no evidence for it. There's no evidence that the vast majority of people on Game Pass today aren't paying for it.

And that's not saying it couldn't be true. It's just a bad assumption.

Point being, presenting it as a problem means you have to prove the problem exists.
Large chunk =\= majority. Can’t even read yet youre lecturing me. Jesus.

Ah this $1 Gamepass deal that eveyone goes on about. Well i dont know if its different on Console Gamepass, but i got 3 months PC Gamepass free with my new cpu and mobo last year, and i got the $1 trial when first signing up. Been paying £7.99 ever since.
I know. Its all they have left to hold onto...

This narrative false. Recore, Quantum Break, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive were first party/second party titles, while on THE PS4 was mostly quiet for the first three years.

Sony studios hit the top gear, and you saw titles pushed out. Sony first party content was not great between the year 2013 and 2016.

Bloodbourne was released by a third/second party dev studio. Sony did not own the studio.
Ready at Dawn- Order 1886, same.

In reality Sony success depends on Guerilla games, Sucker Punch, and Naughty dog. Insomnaic will provide backup with Spiderman and other titles.

MS at this stage has 30 something owned studios and does not look the are stopping yet..

Sony got around 15+ owned studios, so the potential is massive for Xbox. Now is about delivering the content for its fanbase.
I would add SSS to that. I mean they only make God of War.
mother than that I agree things will be interesting this gen. Xbox cannot be outgunned.

Okay. So define a large chunk.

How many subscribers have the $1 deal?
Those who purchase next gen consoles early on are seen as enthusiasts. So how many next gen consoles have Microsoft sold 3-4m? I’d say the majority of those people would have the $1 deal for varying years 1-3. There is no fact here but that’s my belief based on what I’ve seen on this forum and elsewhere.

There is a clear difference between X1 in 2013 and XSX|S in 2021. More studios, serious backward compatibility, options for high and low end gamers, Game pass and most importantly a focus on games, games, games over TV, TV, TV. The future will be very bright as long as they stay on this course.

This took me way more time than I like to admit in GiMP. Frankly this meme was born for this article.

That is so ridiculously varied as to say nothing at all.

So less than 25 per cent of all subscribers might - at varying times over the next three years - have to pay. And some of them might choose not to.

And that's - your words - the biggest problem for Microsoft in the future. That's what might make or break the service that MS has already no doubt put billions into? That's the take you've put so many triggered emojis into?

Chill man. This is a forum for discussing and these are my thoughts. If other people’s thoughts mean nothing to you then don’t join a forum. Also enjoy my ignore list.

Your little drive-by doesn't stand up to scrutiny and, after multiple posts Insulting me, you've thrown your rattle out the pram because nobody wants to put your rubbish attempt at an actual thought on the fridge.

I'm always up for a discussion, but you came into this in bad faith and you'll leave it in bad faith.

Has he though? Seems like it's still mostly promises.

I don't think he has ever promised to put a major Sony first party game into Game Pass day one like what was just done with MLB The Show 21, has he? At the very least I think he will keep the promise of releasing the games that have already been announced/promised. Even assuming all XGS studios will prove too incompetent for the task (unlikely, these studios know how to ship titles), there's Bethesda who we know will definitely ship their games. They've already delivered some fantastic ones recently, and are prepping 2 timed PS5 exclusives in Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

MLB was already not Sony exclusive, so eh? Wake me up when Sony puts God of War on GP.

Change the topic title to All Sony fanboys tears here. A bunch of children purposefully being disingenuous about a shift in mindshare in their hated plastic box. I refuse to believe some of you blokes are over the age of 17 the way some of you carry on. Irony is I know for damn sure if the shoe was on the other foot people would be applauding the positives Phil brought to Xbox if it was a Sony exec.

You guys can keep bitching about sweet nothings like how much money Microsoft spends and how you hate the colour of the box or whatever the next trivial small brain point you can think of. Imma go enjoy my PlayStation Xbox PC and switch.

I’ve think he’s done a good job. I didn’t think about getting an Xbox one at all. I never even really considered it after the last years of the previous gen played out. It was PS4 from the get-go.

Now I’m waiting awhile to see how it shakes out and decide if I want a ps5 or series x.
