For all its faults, The GameCube had a rather kickass library. The best F-Zero, the best Smash (for many fans), the best Mario Kart (for me), great new IPs in Pikmin, Eternal Darkness, and Chibi-Robo, and arguably the most unique Mario and Zelda games at the time. Not to mention, way better third party support than the Wii U had (even though it still paled in comparison to the PS2 and even the Xbox). The GameCube had a fantastic first party library, and some decent third party stuff in the end. And many of its games can still only be found on the GameCube.

The problem with the Wii U library is that about 80% of it is derived from whatever came out on the Wii, DS, or even the 3DS. Far too many Wii U games from Nintendo are either sequels to Wii games, or already have an equivalent on the 3DS. There really wasn't much the Wii U could call its own, and with most of its library ported to the Switch, the Wii U is arguably the hardest Nintendo console to go back to because nearly all of its games have either been vastly improved upon with sequels, or exist on other platforms, in some cases both. And third party support, even for a Nintendo console, was absolutely pathetic. Not even indies could've helped it.

Man it's such a bitch that I still want Nintendo Land in my collection.

I'm gonna be dragging around this wretched thing forever.

GameCube definitely.

All those are playable on the WiiU and can be bought off the eShop at this very moment.
Remasters aside I don’t believe the point of this thread is to compare ports. Some of the games are playable on Wii U through emulation but they’re still GameCube games. Otherwise I’d give more points to the GameCube overall because many of the must-have Wii u games are playable on the switch whereas there’s next to no GameCube games playable on a current platform aside from sunshine via the 3D all-stars.

Both were immensely disappointing but while I can look back at Gamecube with some fondness, I only see the Wii U in contempt. I will never not like that console. I bought two at launch, one for a gift - two disappointed people lol.

There was nothing on the Wii-U apart from BOTW than can stand next to the GameCube greats.

Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4, Smash Melee, Eternal Darkness, Thousand Year Door. These are giants.

With about 30 minutes of work, you can play every gamecube game on Wii U.

Gamecube by a few billion light years....

Cheap as hell but surprisingly powerful, Good first and 3rd party games, I will never understand how it was not a commercial stormer worldwide.

OP is missing Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube.
But yeah, the gamecube easily wins in my book.

The Gamecube was clearly better technically and game wise.
Tales of Symphonia was one of the best games of ever!

Has enormous collection of anime/manga. Cosplays as waifu.
GameCube.

The best console Nintendo ever produced, and probably ever will. It had the best Zelda game, the best Mario game, the best Metroid game etc.

I own every single GameCube edition ever released here in the EU, and they are all brand new in sealed boxes. I will never open them.

I have one regular black edition that I play on and I have all the spareparts ever needed to keep it and the gamepad going for the rest of my life.

Yes, I like the GameCube... a lot.

Wow. Talk about a poll where the Virtual Boy needs to be looking out a rainy window, and it would STILL miserably be in last place.

The Cube was the console I grew up with and it will always have a place in my heart.

The lineup was great:

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are among the best games ever.
Melee rules. Wind Waker was a refreshing take on the series. F-Zero GX kick ass. Paper Mario 2 is still the best in the series. Rogue Squadron 2 was a technical marvel. Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil 4. Killer 7.

And while the Cube couldn't compete with the Xbox and PS2 for third party games, it was still a whole lot better than the Wii U that barely had anything from third party devs.
I also love the controller, especially the wavebird.
