Not really surprising PC is ahead with such a huge lead. Its probably much easier to publish games there and its public tends to be more open to new creative concepts, along with stronger word-of-mouth advertising.

also lol at the title's wording

Imagine working with a PS5 devkit instead of a Series X devkit. Damn Sony must be paying double for that shit. I mean that's like a car part manufacture works with Ford instead of a GM.

Its I/O design is an impressive piece of tech where I would imagine developers who like to push the creative levels forward in the medium would be excited about.

If that were true, they would be more excited about PC, since the top end of PC completely trounces the PS5. Xbox Series X and PS5 are fiddling in the middle.

Well, PC is ahead according to the survey.
However i think the reasons for these numbers have less to do with power/IO/whatever and more by the nature of their markets.

For I/O setup?

Whoop de doo, it can fast load levels in ratchet. In the mean time, the resolution, frame rate, ray tracing and overall textures are better on PC. You hold on to that I/O of yours - it seems very precious to you.

And I see Max Po's level of intellect hasn't changed from non existant, just out today I guess to try to insult pc gamers on this board. Well done.

Probably true. Just needed to be said as some need a reality check I regards to the ps5 and its level of hardware. And I'm not even a pc gamer.......(game maybe once a year on it)

Makes sense.

Most games actually release on PC especially the indie kind. I would too if I’m starting out. It’s usually the tried and tested that come release on consoles.

Because pc lacks memory and bandwidth like consoles and because of that need the same speed of the I/O to compensate?

No, because big AAA games are made with consoles I/O in mind and not PC.

There are some notable exception like Star Citizen with an SSD as a minimum requirement but it’s very rare.

Like what game? And this game on the pc version needs to rely on the SSD all the time?

I already mentioned it. Star Citizen. Just look up its spec requirements and comparisons to using HDD vs SSD. DF even has a feature video on it.

If you want a game that performs massively worse on consoles but great on PC because it has an SSD, then look at Cyberpunk.

I am asking for a game that rely on the IO/SSD of the PS5. Star citizen is not an example. And I doubt Star Citizen engine chooses already to put almost everything it needs on memory to compensate the lack of I/O speed.

Ratchet, Demon’s Souls and Returnal presumably.

We wouldn’t know if they haven’t released on PC. All signs, gameplay videos and developer statements point to yes though.

There are no other such examples as all other games released on the platform are cross gen.

All those games if put on PC would need the same speed of the IO all the time or they could just use more memory?

It still needs an SSD realistically speaking.

Unless of course you plan to have memory the size of the whole game then you have to wait for the storage to transfer all those to memory every time you start the game.

This is because you still have to put something in that memory and the I/O is the one handling that.

I'm pretty sure Xbox would be higher if there is no XSS

I think with the split RAM setup, Xbox wouldn't be the preferable console even if it outsold PS5 3:1 and there was no XSS. The Series X is amazing overall but they screw up with the RAM, it's like they didn't learn from XB1 ESRAM...

Why the whole game in memory? The game just need to have the level or what you are seeing. Why the game would need to load the last level in the memory while I am playing the first lvl yet?
