Jason Schreier doesn't think Starfield is a 2021 release

Don't call me an insider should I be right though. I focus a hell of a lot more on Starfield than Jason Schreier probably ever will. I'm everyday out there looking for stuff and thangs. You can get a pretty good picture on how things might be running even without actual insider information (which he probably doesn't have anyways).

I still say 2021 for release. Of course it could get delayed internally to 2022 but so far everything is looking good.

Tough one. Bethesda has done it in the past where they didn't show much of a game up until a few months before release. Normally I would say no way that 2021 is possible for Starfield and I still doubt that it happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it at E3 this year and a release date this year.

No idea if Halo Infinite + Starfield could work side by side given the SciFi nature though.

Xbox desperately needs big games and 2021 holidays with 2 big games would for sure help sell a ton of Xboxes for Christmas

Welp.

For the devs, studios affected by Covid, it sucks.

To those not affected or as much, congrats for being able to deal with it better.

Well he believes it won’t launch this year like most people.
He is not confirming or leaking anything.

Why is that a thread?

BTW seems like Halo is the biggest MS title this year.

Well, they did show it, and we did see it.

Anyway, just because of one or two Fallout, people keep saying that "you know Bethesda just announces the game and releases it the same year, 4 months later." I'm just reminding everyone that it's not completely true.

They did do that a couple of times, but they have also done the other thing -- announced a game years ago and didn't release it for YEARS -- more times.

What did u see? Nothing. A cg trailer that has no bearing on the game. Just a logo.

Until they delay it more.
There is like 5% chance that Halo Infinite will be delayed again.
They have one more year and game was playable from beginning to the end in December.
And 343 has help from 3 external studios and also from Turn 10 and The Coalition.

If they are not able to release feature complete and relatively bug free product by end of this year, then there is some serious stinker in the management of 343 and people needs to be fired

So after RE8, what else is there to look forward to this year that’s not a port or remaster? Fuck, 2021 is gonna be the driest year for gaming ever.

Or the fact that things are going to shit. You do fucking realize that we are still in a pandemic. So many things going on right now so your piss poor assumptions are wrong and maybe I'm wrong too but damn you pissed me off with that stupid comment.

Don’t care for more Halo and Forza so I was hoping this would be Xbox’s other big offering this year. I doubt we will have a definitive answer before E3.

Xbox needs something big and shiny soon to distract all those people trying to grab PS5 however they can, otherwise current lead will only widen and be insurmountable for sure.

Might be though that MS is pushing them to show gameplay even if it doesn't release this year. Surely game the scope of Starfield would be one of the biggest things MS want to unveil as soon as possible even if it doesn't follow the old marketing of Bethesda and BGS.

They had a COVID "excuse" last year.
I don't think that they can delay it further after they publicly said that they are in "polishing" stages and they are preparing for E3

I'd believe by now Developers probably schedule certain Employees to be in the 'Office' on certain days and do a rotation. Could be slower because of everything sure, but I assume they're doing that and others remotely.

Wouldn't be so bad but we are already coming off of a XB drought. At least get MS Flight Sim on consoles.

To me this is bad for MS. I see them spending a shit ton for exclusive gamepass releases. If battlefield rumor and Ubisoft rumor hold true then I see issues for MS and their software. They need first party quality software on their service.

At least they're not rushing shit out and releasing patches that are so buggy they have to tell people to uninstall the game they just bought for $70 and not play it until the next patch.

When are people going to learn two wrongs don't make a right. Who gives a F about Returnal in this thread? We are talking about Starfield.

Not going to lie a back to back to back Halo, Starfield, and Forza would make sony sweat. With that said I never expected Starfield to be 2021 unless it was a buggy mess in a perpetual state of early access, which is a totally Microsoft move in my opinion. This holiday will be probably be Halo and Forza going up against Horizon and whatever surprises if any sony has. Nintendo will just do what they do and sell like crazy. Who knows!

People don't understand how Tom Howard reveals and releases his game, especially the press sneak fuck who did a Reddit AmA.

They did it for two games. There's no garuntee they'll do it a third time. Especially when it's a new IP with new tech that will have increased dev time, COVID, and the the shitshow of Fallout 76

So a game that released Last Friday from a somewhat small developer who's never made a game of this size, is being compared to a platform holder's stable of big AAA studios who have not shown anything for 3 years? And probably wont show any fruit until late 2022-2023?
So 343 never had a bad patch with MCC? Oh wait the game for online was almost unplayable for almost 4 years?

Totally the same right? I redownloaded returnal last night and all is well.
Game is one of the best i've played gameplay wise in a long ass time. Like I'm an addict of it at this point even with me dying so much, and I dont even like Rogue style games.

God you guys seriously need to get a grip of reality.

EDIT: Yea like others said wtf does bringing returnal into this discussion have to do with anything?

Sony must have timed exclusive locked in before MS bought it. Now Bethesda has to make sure it parity is correct... right guys.

No one ever said it was a bad game. Just that it could've been delayed again to fix these save/crashes problems. But they had to get it out and not interfere with Ratchet.

Personally, i think they should take more time before they release this game. Maybe a couple of years, you get one shot at releasing a new IP and I am said to say after the last fallout game I don't give them much credit for their quality control.

They need to take their time and release a close to perfect game that does not need a year of patches to make it playable.

But hey that's just me.

Xbox people are hungry, and unfortunately you have Youtube dick bags who think they know things telling people about rumors from 4Chan. And people believe them.
Ive been going down the xbox fandom rabbit hole via twitter, podcasts, xbox forums. According to these "insiders" and "leakers" Microsoft is already the market leader, just nobody knows it yet. Microsoft is about to announce theyre acquiring your favorite publisher, they just havent settled on which one yet. Gamepass has turned the industry upside down because Square enix wanted to be less risk averse and take some money upfront for their online shooter game after avengers flopped. Oh yeah, and MS is about to take over Japan any second now once they purchase all the Japanese publishers.

One of the more outragous things ive seen floating around is the MS has signed some exclusive deal with lucas film for star wars games. Off the top of my head i can think of 3 stars games from 3 different publishers and this weekend on xbox podcast "Iron Lords" Jeff Grubb said he doubts the Mandalorian game will be made by a Microsoft studio.

Like, these "insiders" and "leakers" bold face lie and make things up to string these poor people along.

I never thought it was either. We know nothing about it 5 months in.
Bethesda generally are good for announcing a game and ready to launch months later, Fallout 4 is an example. I know both Starfield and Elder Scrolls were announced to cover a fuck up but for the life of me I can't remember it. It worked. This is the rare times they year of dreams it. Announce it followed by a long wait. Hopefully it's not too long if delayed.

This is a brand new IP, a bit different than a shadow like drop of sequels that are well established.

It honestly didnt make any sense to release the game Fall 2021 at the same time as Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5. according to Gamstat Halo 5 had over 18 million players as of November 2020 and Forza Horizon 4 had over 22 million players. Most people would just spend their time playing Halo and Forza.

I've been playing Returnal almost non-stop today. Bring another point for your console warring.
