Plus-size model Tess Holliday reveals she's receiving treatment for anorexia

And here I thought being anorexic meant losing weight to be thin.

Never trust a fat person's view on eating disorders or their "don't blame me. my metabolism is so slow I can never lose weight even if I only eat salad"

One fat ass at work kept up that charade for years. Look at what she eats at lunch and it's soup and salad, yet never lost a pound. Slow metabolism guys!

She leaves the company and coworkers in her dept cleared out her office and desk and found junk food and vending machine wrappers in her desk.

I saw her one time buy 3 chocolate bars from the vending machine in the cafe. Who the fuck buys 3 at a time? Our office layout isn't even that big. Its not like we work in a skyscraper where the cafe is on the ground floor and we work on floor 20.

"plus size model"

So this is what Orwell was talking about with "doubleplus ungood".

fyi anorexia just means loss of appetite

So only eating two supreme pizzas a day instead of three? She's not scooter-bound yet, so she's burning a lot of calories just walking around at her weight. She's got to be eating 5k calories a day at least to maintain her weight. If she is genuinely anorexic, she's got to be swinging between 0k and 10k calories a day.

People who grew up what?
Food insecure?

You can't say that, can you? What does it even mean?

If you aren't sure what a term means, maybe google it before getting an attitude?

Food insecure means you don't know when they next time you're going to eat is. Like if your family is too poor or too fucked up to feed you every day.

Kids who grow up not knowing when their next meal is going to be often develop disordered eating as adults.

Not saying that applies here, just lumping them in as similar in some ways to recovered anorexics.

Why not just.. google the term you don't know?

Because I want to hear people asking me why I didn't google it. That's so much more fun.

People (especially the woke brigade) invent all kinds of stupid not-meaning-anything words on a daily basis. I thought this was one of them.

Well, I'm not gonna pile on her she does not look anorexic.

I'm sure there's legitimately diagnosed cases and this isn't one of them.

it's shameful society collectively encourages this behaviour, 10 years ago such a farce would not be entertained and rightly mocked.

falsely attaching a medical disorder to one's own identity is not a substitute for having a real personality. the attention seeking knows no bounds.

the irony is we are told words matter but clearly not in certain arbitrary instances. idiots bandy around clinical terms around like they are pokemon badges. who's that fake disorder? it's fuck you, that's who

Definition of Anorexia:
Anorexia (an-o-REK-see-uh) nervosa — often simply called anorexia — is an eating disorder characterized by an abnormally low body weight, an intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted perception of weight.

She's morbid obese, and the reason for that is that she doesn't take any responsibility other then slamming her face full of food.

What she needs is a person that tells her how the world turns before she's dead at 40.

All of those people including these retards from that magazine that feed into this bullshit are straight up speeding up her process to her grave.

Is that clickbait? xD

Did she have anorexia and went from one unhealthy extrem to the next unhealthy extreme?

I think a lot of people don't understand anorexia, like it isn't necessarily the only mode, you can flip flop between weeks of anorexia, weeks of bullemia, weeks of binge-eating disorder, and those can all be co-morbid.

You've literally just described simply bulimia.

Narcissism sure is rewarded these days.
I don't think most people even understand what narcissism truly entails, but society is being driven into the ground because of narcissists and their penchant to play victim, and a growing number of people who are okay with that.

It's not good to have a broken family, to be a single parent, to be obese or underweight, to have poor hygiene, to get bad grades, to cope using drugs, etc. These are things in our control, and even though a lot of us are pretty messed up from shit that occurred in our lives, that doesn't give us free reign to bland everything else and shirk personal responsibility.

Tess is obese, and it's her fault. It shouldn't be celebrated, and she is anything but anorexic. She definitely has an eating disorder, but people in her circle (and the media) are enabling her.

The most odd thing is where some tard does something stupid and loses a bunch of money, sets up a Go Fund Me page, and somehow gets rewarded with more money than originally needed.

Its weird already that someone is getting comped for being an idiot, but turns out they are getting bonused on it.

Looks more like bulimia to me.
You know, the condition where you eat like Jabba de Hut and throw up a little bit afterwards.

No way she is anorexic. She is probably bulemic and calls it anorexic. Either way, she clearly does have an eating disorder, but anorexia is not it.

Help, I've grossly neglected my body for an extensive amount of time and I've reached the point where I realize that getting back a healthy physique is a LOT of hard work I'm not at all willing to do.

I'm a victim of a culture that celebrates health. So unfair.

Well no more! From now on I will celebrate my extremely unhealthy body and ride this wave until the inevitable heart attack at age 39.

I think she is just too stupid to understand what her problem is and has no idea about anorexia, which she does not have by definition alone.

She has an eating disorder (she is extremely fat) and she will die from it in the next 30 years. End of story.

People like her should be banned from instagram and twitter because they sell false, sick and ultimately deadly body images. It doesn't matter if they do it consciously or if they are just immensely dumb. Ban them.

How is it she blames society for a “culture of thinness” Being thin is a culture it means your probably close to your correct weight.

As an ex-fatty I have to say that this is your fucking problem not society’s fault at all society didn’t force you to gain all those pounds.

Even if she's correct and we live in a culture that celebrates "thinness" and that this is damaging to young people, you'd have to imagine the solution is not to just go as far as possible in the opposite direction. A culture that normalises obesity will do just as much damage to people.

If anyone really cared about this they'd be advocating things like educating kids on diet and exercise and the effects of those things on both mental and physical health. We'd teach people how to have the best quality of life.

I find the idea of a "plus size model" to be a bit strange as to get the job one would first have to become plus size and then would have to work on maintaining their plus size. Kind of an odd occupation when you have to deliberately damage your health to get the job and then must remain unhealthy to keep the job.

I genuinely wonder why we have such a hard time accepting that a healthy mind and body simply is what it is. Eat well, exercise and look after yourself and you will probably have a better quality of life for a longer period of time. A side effect is that you will end up looking a certain way. Toned body, good skin, good hair, defined facial features, good teeth. Add in better mood, higher confidence. Isn't that something people should be taught to aspire to rather than scoff at?

I wonder if the consumer society, while not forcing as such, does actively encourage people to make bad decisions and for some people it goes too far.

This lady here seems more like someone who perpetuates that super consumer lifestyle and with the "healthy at any size" thing it might be the difference between someone leaving the chocolate bars and potato chips on the shelves and spending an extra bucks every time they go for groceries.

When it comes to food, I am a boring bastard. Fruit, veg, fresh meat, rice, nuts and berries. I keep sauces and salt and processed foods to a minimum wherever I can. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy a good takeaway or a weekend in the booze but that's a rare occasion. Something I do think about though is how much of the stuff on sale in the supermarket is just what I would consider "treats". :)

So while nobody is forced to pile on the pounds they aren't exactly educated or encouraged to make better choices. It gets to the point where people moan so much about "diet culture" but actually they are just moaning about people explaining how to eat well and be healthy.

Eating healthy can be expensive as well, whereas 3 for 1 pizzas for £3 is common

Its cheaper to eat shit foods, which is bonkers when you really think about it
