Then almost the entire list is invalid, because a lot of those games can be played on PS5 or PC via PS Now.
Im not sure if you are trolling. None of these games are released as ps5 games. They are strictly ps4 games. Backwards compatibility and streaming are services, not game publishing.

If its the king of ps4, it has to be a ps4 game!

Thats backwards compatability, its not PS5 releases. Only Spider Man is an official ps5 game.

It wasn't during the PS4 generation. This logic makes little sense. Spidey should be on there.

Mods, can you please invalidate this poll and close the thread?

Kidding, but WHERE IS SPIDEY?! Seriously, it's one of the most high-profile exclusives of the generation, and you just leave it out?
Its a ps5 game, just like mario kart 8 was released on switch and became multiplatform, spiderman was released on ps5 and became a multiplatform. It was not just backwards compatibility like with most games, but a real release.

It was a PS4 exclusive until the PS5 was released. It counts as a PS4 exclusive. Will you go back and remove TLOU2 from this poll if that gets a PS5 port? It's silly.

Did Dreams really sell less than 1 million copies?

That's awful if so.

I really hope they can bounce back from that since the game took forever to make, and so I can only imagine the cost that was incurred.

But to answer the OP, and based off the given list:

God of War.

I'd say Uncharted 4, but that would feel disingenuous.

-UC4 because it set the graphical benchmark that was not surpassed. (Later games may have equaled it but none surpassed)

- PT because it pioneered a new era of modern first person horror with puzzles and got the whole world collaborating. A spark of true genius by Kojima.

- GoT because it stroke the perfect balance among gameplay, gfx, traversal and story. A true all-rounder.

- The Order 1886 because of its benchmark graphics and AMAZING story. It has true franchise potential and I hope to see it return some day.

So that's why no Spider-Man..
Mindblown man, you won.

But what about Driveclub? No excuse for that one.

Yes and no, I see your point, but what I take from this thread is that a lot of people don't know what a console exclusive is. Imagine if Death Stranding got a PC release 1 week after the PS4 version, no one would consider it a PS4 only game, but since it released 8 months later, people still sort of view it as a PS4 game. Truth is, it doesn't matter if it's 1 week or 4 years, if it gets an official release on another platform, it seizes to be exclusive. Death Stranding, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone are absolutely not PS4 exclusives.

If The Last of Us: Part II released on the Playstation 5, yes, I would not have had it on this list, it would stop being a PS4 exclusive. If God of War gets a PS5 re-release, it's not a PS4 exclusive anymore. It's like with Conker's Bad Fur Day back in the day, it was released on Xbox and stopped being an N64 exclusive.

People don't like it, but there is nothing wrong with it, what does it matter that The Last of Us 2 is on 2 consoles? maybe in the future, people will start leaning towards terms like brand exclusive instead, like Sony exclusives, or Nintendo exclusives, as games will share ecosystems more and more. That might be a better way of looking at it.

And I'm not just saying random shit, being a platform exclusive is not an opinion, it's a fact that a game released on multiple platforms is not exclusive. Here is the list of official Playstation 4 only games: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_4-only_games

I think the problem is that people are attached to the idea that consoles have a set of exclusive titles that makes the platform special, and rebel against the thought that it loses titles on such a list. But it's easier to picture if you look at other consoles, like New Super Mario Bros U., people weren't that hot on that port and always refer to it as a Switch and Wii-U game, but with Breath of the Wild, people are in love with the idea that it's a game that adds to the Switch line-up of exclusive titles, and ignores the Wii-U version as much as possible. But it's not real, that game is not a Switch exclusive, just as much as New Super Mario Bros. U.

Sony and Microsoft are moving away from exclusives, the PS4 might be the last Playstation with such a robust exclusive list.

God of War, I platinum that game and very proud of it.

P.T despite being a demo, still leave a lasting impression.

Bloodborne was okay, finished it but really didn't think its my kind of thing.

Shadow of The Colossus.

(I recently picked up The Last Guardian, and it's one of the worst games I have ever played. There is literally one second of lag when you move the camera).

The PS4 generation was an absolute banger.

We started with Bloodborne very early on and it was an amazing game and easily one of the best PS4 games. I just wish Miyazaki and FROM had a little bit more time with this. Extremely good style and combat. Sadly it was the souls game I finished in record time (I think 16-18 hours first playthrough compared to 60 for Dark Souls) and lacked build variety, but I loved it, it is an easy 9/10 and I desperate need a PS5 patch/update/remaster to fix framerate, loading times and frame pacing.

Then we have Uncharted 4 which made me realize how good Naughty Dog really are. The graphics and the smoothness and the matured richness and depth of this game was extremely satisfying and enjoyable to venture through. Easily one of the best PS4 games and Uncharted games we have. Definite must play.

God of War. Fucking God of War !! Finally Video games felt like modern and oldschool at the same time. God of War felt exactly like young me imagined Video Games would play in the future based on progress. This game doesn't joke around and doesn't take your hand. It is challenging in its own way (not the same as Bloodborne) and it does it extremely well. Probably my number #2 of the PS4 generation and it made it into my all time Top 5 games.

Often overlooked, but still a very good game is Uncharted The Lost Legacy. Yes it is "just" an 8-12 hour 40$ video game spin off and doesn't carry the same emotions and depth as Uncharted 4, but it plays just as well and tells it own story to enjoy. So far Naughty Dog hasn't failed with Uncharted and even the B-Team (not 100% sure if that is correct) delivered with this one.

And finally the #1 The Last of Us Part II. Not sure where to start with the pinnacle of video games, but it just shows what videogames can be. The one real bad thing about this game is how much it shows how far behind the rest of the industry is. The technical side of this game is so advanced that I couldn't believe that my base PS4 could run this. It looks better than playing Metro Exodus, Control or Cyberpunk on my RTX 3080 which is like 20x the performance of the PS4. And the entire game is smooth. Zero problems with glitches, framerate, framepacing, tearing etc. But most impressed I was by the jump of gameplay quality compared to TLOU1. Third Person Shooter never felt better (given the realistic nature of the game) and the amount of details in this game are out of this world. Whether it is animations (the best we have ever seen), tiny bits of broken glass stuck into enemy faces after smashing them with a glass bottle, every character and npc having dedicated breathing systems that are changing based on situations, guitar, blood soaking through your bandage in real time, snow on trees, the god damn documents that are in your bag getting wet when you go into the water with your bag being underwater and a billion of other things that I don't need to list because there are enough videos out there to show amazing details in TLOU2.
Okay enough praise. Time for the cons: Still no PS5 patch/remaster.

Went onto Lost Legacies store page with all the mentions here.

It spoiled what would have been an amazing reveal.

Gameplay of the main characters seeing a huge ancient city. I'm pissed. Spoiling the reveal in a Uncharted title right as you browse it in the store is Netflix and Hollywood trailer Tier.

Still gonna get it. I've heard a lot of glowing praise for it, and as someone who loves Uncharted I've been wanting to get this game.

Love SotC/Ico. Was crazy excited for The Last Guardian, I even bought a PS4Pro specifically for it's release. Played about 3 hours and stopped. I loved what I was seeing, loved the atmosphere and art direction, but the performance was so bad. I've not gone back to it since. I do think once I eventually get a PS5 it will probably be the first game I play.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is being eclipsed by God of War and Bloodborne, it's struggling to keep up with Ghost of Tsushima. Astro Bot doing a lot better than I expected.

i was going to put Bloodborne as a definite choice, but Astro Bot is more breaking.
LoU 2
God of war
Ghost of Tsushima
Astro Bot
👌

We started with Bloodborne
nope, started with very impressive nextgen games that were very much impossible on PS3: Killzone SF, inFamous SS, Driveclub. PS3 would never run these nor had graphics remotely comparable.

now on PS5? mostly only crossgen stuff with added effects like raytracing, quite underwhelming...

Definitely GoT. No question. But I'm biased because I love Japan setting. Art direction and trickery to get around a lot of limitations of the hardware earns mad respect too.

Well to be far, even Driveclub was late the next year after PS4's launch.

Demon Souls, Ratchet, Returnal are just as good and Horizon 2 releasing this fall would be the cherry on top. I'd say both launches are comparable tbh.

PS4's launch was mostly cross gen stuff too. Diablo 3, Destiny, Battlefield 4, Call Of Duty Ghost, AC IV Black Flag.

So one can argue this gen is as impressive as last gen was at the start based on what we are looking at, they are very much comparable as neither is really having more of cross gen or less exclusive etc.

Bloodborne, only Bloodborne. The only must play game on the PS4 exclusive titles imo. The other can be great games like God of War, but its not a must play imo because everything that God of War offers can be found in other games.
Bloodborne gameplay is similar to Dark Souls but its atmosphere and world design is one of a kind.

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim - One of the best narratives I've ever encountered in a game. Arguably one of the best games I've ever played. Visuals for the story mode are also pretty sick.

iu

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir - Ditto. Another one of the best games and narratives I've ever played.

iu

Ghost of Tsushima - One of the most beautiful games I've ever played, and a nice evolution of the open world formula. Up there in stunning visuals with Okami, Wind Waker, Uncharted 2, Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, Assassins Creed Origins.

iu

Horizon Zero Dawn - Another one of the best games I've ever played. Insane visuals, and the sequel Forbidden West looks to eclipse them. One more thing -
fuck Ted Faro.

iu

God damn Sony really made it difficult this gen. Its difficult to choose any one PS4 exclusive or former exclusive as a "King" when many titles have the bearing of a "King."

1. The Last Guardian
2. God of War
3. Bloodborne

Easy top 3. ND might be technical wizards with a big budget so high production values, but as actual game developers they miss the mark. SSM showed them up entirely with GOW, out doing them at their own style of game.

ive played Bloodborne, Spiderman, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank, inFAMOUS, God of War & Uncharted 4.
God of War is the only one worth buying a PS4 for imo

My votes go to

KZ
TLOU2
Astrobot
PT

BB is cool but overrated so it doesn't need my vote. Sure it'll get like 100% here.

I've been interested in GOT for a long time but haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. I have a feeling I'd dig it.

GOW seemed pretty good from what I played but also nothing really outstanding.

Dreams looks really great too and I feel like I'd be able to make some nice stuff with it. Maybe if it gets a PS5 version or sequel.

Atmosphere and world design are also are one of a kind in God of War. And, unlike Bloodborne, same goes for its combat and general gameplay.
What other game plays like GoW?

I disagree, good question btw. God of War doesnt have much unique about it. Dont get me wrong, its a good game but after playing it i can't help but feel that it was heavily inspired by the previous successful game mechanics and design choices that came before it.
God of War took inspiration from 3 well known and successful games.
The world design (Vikings, Snow, Gods, Semi Open World with quests) feels inspired by Skyrim from the Elder Scrolls series.
The combat design (boss battles, 3d action, slower methodical fighting instead of good old hack and slash) feels inspired by the famous Souls series.
The Story design (over the top, cinematic, family son and father bond, dramatic) feels inspired by The Last of Us.

There has been a ton of awesome games, loved many of them. But I'd say my favorite one has been GoW followed by Bloodborne and Uncharted, with The Last Guardian as a runner up.

Forget it, the real game of the generation has been Knack

God of War
BloodBorne ( favourite )
TLOU2

Ghost of Tsushima - I know alot of people say its an Ubisoft clone but which Ubisoft game has combat as good as that? Not even close

I think God of War is the definitive PS4 game

Voted Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War and Ratchet & Clank.

An action-RPG, an open world game, a third person blockbuster and a colourful platformer/action game.

I feel like God of war is the most popular name on PlayStation and the majority of people will go for that, but Bloodborne is something else its so unique and awesome that most people wont experience because of the difficulty, so for me its BB all the way.

On this list for me: BB, Lost Legacy, GoW and GoT.

BB is my favorite.

However, I would also include Nioh 1/2, Death Stranding and Days Gone.
