Would you be a fan of if Sony and Marvel had a license deal for all Marvel games to be published by Sony

With the success of Spiderman, Miles Morales and even Iron Man VR what if Sony made a deal with Marvel where they can use all their IPs in exchange for some money or part of the deal with having Spiderman in the MCU.

With a lot of flops from Marvel games including Avengers and Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite maybe this would be a good idea from both parties.

Sony can leverage their IPs and they don't even need to use their own internal studios. You can have Sony publish a Doctor Strange game developed by Remedy. A Marvel Vs PlayStation developed by Capcom. A Wolverine game developed by Team Ninja. A Black Panther game developed by Platinum Games and etc.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
Does Sony have the developer resources to do that? I thought Marvel's whole deal was curating high quality devs to make sure their games are all well made and well polished. I don't think Sony has the resources to make that work for every game that Marvel is going to want for the next 10 or so years.

If the games are good as Spider...

Everything to avoid another boring Avengers game. I would love a Punisher game made by ND with the gameplay and graphics of TLU2!

Not really. I'd hate for Sony to be creatively shackled to Marvel's endless treadmill of vapid cape-shit.

I quite like comics and comic characters, but fucking hell - enough already. Its getting stale.

I dont see why Playstation would be interested. Spiderman makes sense since they have different venues in which they make money from him. Shows, Movies, ang games. They gain from his exposure.

Investing developers into IP they dont own, just doesnt make much sense. Maybe if they made some massive free to play game with a 10 year license, it would make sense.

I think it is a shame that Xbox/Switch fans can’t play the Insomniac Spider-Man games because they are really great, so no, I don’t see a benefit at all. And I can’t see it happening anyway. Spider-Man was a perfect fit for Insomniac, it has to be said.

The biggest potential of comic book stories is being creative with well... it's story.... And that will never be alowed under Disney.
At best you ll get decent reverse engeniered Arkham City with save, dull n toothless writing aka Spider-Man

If Sony had a licence for that many properties, virtually all of Sony's first party studios would need to move over to developing games for the Marvel stable of properties to justify the monstrous cost. I can't imagine anyone being happy with their platform becoming a Marvel machine while the series' and characters they bought their PlayStation's to enjoy sit idle for the most part.

I'll take a wolverine game (i'd rather Naughty Dog do it) but otherwise no. I'm not interested in most superheroes besides spiderman and batman

Yes. I am only a fan of something if Sony has a game of it.

Honestly I like Spier-Man and the Batman games which follow the same formula, but most superhero games just don't interest me. I'd like to see someone make a different type of super hero game that is good.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Not with there output. They do 2 or so big games a year so they would all be marvel and nothing else? Pass.

I’d be sick and tired of marvel games because that’s all Sony would be able to make. I’m good with just Spider-Man.

I think you guys still don't fully realize how limited super hero games are currently. We have Batman, and Spider-Man (largely a clone of Batman).

Rocksteady seems to be struggling to even make something new with Suicide Squad. The genre doesn't have infinite growth potential.

I agree. I would be OK with them adding one or two more Marvel games but if they were ALL exclusive they wouldn't have the man power to do them justice.

After having a 2nd thought I think you guys are right. I think inSomniac should definitely move away from traditional Spiderman games though before it gets stale. Maybe a Venom game or a Spiderman 2099 or Scarlet Spiderman.

However I do think some Marvel IPs settings would just be cool in a decent videogame adaption whether it's Sony or any othe company. The Wakanda setting is great I'd love a action adventure game in that setting with playable characters in that setting. I'd love a brutal Wolverine game made by the Nioh team.

Anything marvel is shit so I couldn’t care less.

But Disney absolutely hate Sony keeping a vice cold grip on Spider-Man (who can blame either company for their position) but that contract must be iron tight for Disney to have not found a way to break it yet.

It would be a cold day in hell when Disney hand over ips of a generation like that and limit return. They need to set up a proper gaming studio again, like they had in past decades.

Sure. Sony first-party games will likely be higher quality than third-party games. Just compare Insomniac's Spider-Man to SE's Avengers.

Why would Sony publish for those other publishers? Why wouldn’t Disney just work directly with those companies?

The only superhero game I would want to play is a good Marvel fighting game, which I think NetherRealm Studios are rumored to be developing, or Marvel vs DC which is less likely to happen.

These games don't need to be exclusives either. Maybe PlayStation happens to be your go-to platform to play, but these licensed superhero games should naturally also be available on Xbox and PC.

people should just acknowledge the fact, up until Sony produce Spider Man, no one ,except hardcore fans, did gave any shit about Spider Man game, nor xbox dudes, not pc or PS dudes. no one care about those game.
yet, just after Sony produce this great game, every fecking bottom feeder from xbox and pc just straight up started to making up topics, articles and other shit how these game belongs to general public and how they are entitled to them.

i hope sony would take more of these IPs and make great games out of them.

Nah, most of the teams already have their own IP's to handle plus I really wouldn't know who over at SIE could handle an X-MEN game.

Sony already has a ton of great own IPs that we'd like to continue developing plus they typically make a ton of new IPs. And I'd like to continue focusing on that.

Other than including more Marvel guest characters on Spider-Man (mostly many bad guys plus Avengers), I'd give them X-Men, that they could use during many games and could include many characters there from their mutants universe and would start this series with a Wolverine game. But other than that, I wouldn't give them more Marvel IPs, I'd spread their IPs between other great studios.

Marvel vs Capcom Ultimate was so fucking ugly, but the previous MvC games were awesome, so I'd keep making Marvel Vs Capcom games. If Capcom is too busy with Street Fighter, give the fighting game to ARC System Works.

Then there are many other great AAA studios around the globe that could make great games of Avengers, Blade, Ghost Riders, Captain America or Iron Man.

I just want good Marvel games to get made, period. I don’t give a shit by who. That said, if Sony could put out quality titles at a decent rate, and even better, have a ‘shared universe’ going on? That’d be pretty cool.

I'm not entirely sure why, but out of all the Marvel characters, I think Spiderman suits Playstation the best.

I'd much rather have Sony publish DC games. For example a DC game with a similar vibe to the newest Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix. These kinds of games feel like a more natural fit. Even though I can't quite well articulate why.

It has Gravitas

Hell no, I don't care about Marvel and developing high budget games takes more time and is more risky than with movies. Just let Insomniac to continue developing superhero games for Sony and expand beyond Spiderman.

DC often has gravitas I think. So that fits I'd say. But Spider-Man is relatively light. It's a huge franchise and has a charming main character though. Now that I think of it, Peter Parker and Nathan Drake are quite alike at times.
Spidey doesn’t resonate with me. Looks amazing, plays well enough. Finished original and morales. But as you say, it’s too light, too popcorn. Just like the films.

The Rocksteady Batman’s had the mood and right mix of bizzare.
