The Outer Worlds: Microsoft will take charge of 'future iterations', 3M units sold since launch, long-term franchise

A spokesperson from Private Division, the American publisher owned by Take-Two, has explained the company won't be involved with "future iterations" of The Outer Worlds franchise, noting that Obsidian and owner Microsoft will be steering the ship moving forward. Recent remarks from Take-Two president Karl Slatoff had indicated that relationship would continue, but an update from Private Division has confirmed that Microsoft now intends to take charge of the franchise. "Private Division is still supporting and marketing The Outer Worlds, including the upcoming release of Murder on Eridanos DLC on Nintendo Switch," said the company. "Moving forward, Obsidian and Microsoft will be publishing future iterations in the franchise, and we're absolutely thrilled to see where they take it."

I dug it. I hope Microsoft has finally learned how to actually manage its studios, cause there’s some great potential there.

I like where MS is heading. Not only they are supporting the PC, they got also pretty good IP's for them and the players.
Yeah PC gaming will benefit a ton from Microsoft going forward, in general people are way too focused in what’s happening on Xbox, the real magic for most (all?) MS exclusives will happen on PC.

Wish they’d just stick with Avowed

Yep I think they should be set with that and Grounded for a while (Grounded is very good BTW and will surprise a lot of people when it exits early access).

I wouldn't mind seeing inXile take a crack at the outer worlds, I would be interested to see what they could do with the franchise since it would be a good fit in many ways.

Game felt like a text adventure game, always stuck in a dialogue tree.

That's because it's an RPG, not an action game masquerading as an RPG.

Outer Worlds 2 needs at least 2x the budget and a writer who has balls and does something bold with the story and character writing. More early Fallouts and Disco Elysium, less cookie cutter bullshit please.
