This is it. There's no way in hell SquareEnix is passing on free money. There's going to be a deluge of 8bit and 16bit era jrpgs remade in this engine and I am here for it.

Pretty daft to announce the game for "home consoles." What consoles? How are people supposed to get excited if they don't know if it is coming to the console they own?

This remake looks great. I like the world map a lot - not being able to see where the heck you were going until you happened to stumble upon some landmark is the thing I hate most about old JRPGs.
It’s always old DQ, mind, which means lots of grinding unless they really tweaked the game’s balance. Anyway, I’ve never played DQ3, so color me interested.

I never played DQ growing up so I don’t have the nostalgia, but I’m 1000% buying this day 1 to support future remakes like this. I would sacrifice one of you for FFIV, FFT, or FFVI in this engine

All these "HD 2D" - Type games look inferior to just 2D sprite games. 3D depth doesn't make sprite graphics look "better"!
Only more detailed (more pixels + more sprites) 2D sprite graphics make 2D sprite graphics better.
The "HD-2D" look is just a way of convincing higher management to green-light a game with sprites, that's all.
I wish Squre Enix would stop fucking around and go full complex 2D sprites instead of frankenstein-ing a 3D/2D sprite look, because it will not look better.
Those game are clearly targeted towards people who like sprite graphics.

Looks beautiful. would love to see a lot more 2D games remade an NEW games in this art style/format. I do prefer a more action type combat to turn based though. This still looks great though.

Not quite what I expected, but I'm sure this will be awesome. DQ3 is my favourite. Looking forward to playing it for the umpteenth time. If only to see the new style and how they converted my childhood memories to current tech. I'm obviously hyped for 12 as well, but we know essentially little of it, so this is my main interest for now.

Heh, If I have this name, I have to do it justice when it comes to DQ as a whole. Luckily, I love the series. Of all the games to redo... So yes, I will revisit Aliahan and beyond once more Into The Legend...

Ever since Octopath came out, fans have been screaming "give us Final Fantasy VI like this". So it's kind of baffling that they're instead doing this for Dragon Quest III.
