Pc will be the dominant gaming platform going forward.

Well it is my dominantę platform for whole life and I kinda hate it :p it only makes everything more troublesome and expensive.
I keep ps for exclusives and it's always a joy to play.
That said. I always like the best so pc is that.
It's short -pc is pain and suffering :p

Because most PC gamers have fundamentally different tastes from console gamers. I know it's hard to believe if you spend a lot of time on console centric boards like this one, but most PC gamers only play PC exclusives. They don't play console ports or multiplats at all.
List me the best selling PC exclusives that massively outsell a console title. I'll be interesting in seeing them and I don't meant to be funny

League of Legends, a 12 year old game brought in 75% more money on PC last year than FIFA, one of the most consistently successful gaming franchises on consoles, did across all platforms. And unlike FIFA, League doesn't even cost 60 bucks. It's free.

Age of Empires, Total War series, Rimworld, Crusader Kings, Guild Wars, DOTA .. these kind of niche games /ama not a PC gamer, just quick google fu/. Sales are passable, so-so.

That's possible, but I will still prefer consoles.

It's just more convenient. I was a PC gamer and I don't want to deal with PC bullshit anymore

I heard something bout microtranctions .. Riot Points ..

"Runes are a bad system, imo, and are basically IP sinks to push players to spend money on champions"

Well, duh. Of course there's some way for players to pay. But you don't have to, and the vast majority of players don't. With FIFA there's no way around the up-front payment.

I very much doubt those games come anywhere near what the likes of Fifa, COD, GTA 5 sell for the consoles versions

There are so many indications pc gaming will be the dominant gaming platform in the coming years. At the expense of consoles.

* pc is easier than ever to get into, whether you are building your own or buying a laptop.

* Huge social media presence and zeitgeist. Pc gaming has an huge presence in social media. And its growing every year. In games media it is already dominant.

* An whole generation of kids being fostered into pc gaming with minecraft, roblox, fortnite etc. They will continue to game on pc as they grow older.

* Extremely strong growth in developing countries.

* Crossgen development on console, delayed next gen adoption on an software level. It is going to make lesser pc even more valid. And in two, three years its going to be very cheap to buy an pc that vastly exceeds current consoles.

* Most if not all games, including previous exclusives available on pc. Games sell systems, pc has all of them.

Everything points to pc being the dominant platform going forward. The only hurdle is the bitcoin miners driving up gpu prices. But i dont think that will matter much in a year or two. When low end pc hardware will exceed consoles anyway.
Almost every single one of those points are wrong.

I am not war crying anything .. for me it is just a specific sort of players /DOTA, LoL, Counter Strike, even FIFA etc./ .. live and let live .. eh.

Most recently, Embracer reported sales of 6.8 million for Valheim.

There have been a number of smaller games like Valheim that crop up the Steam charts and do very well. Popular games on Steam are often games no one ever hears of or talks about in console circles.

I'm not saying that PC games don't do well It just seems the games sell better on the consoles in most cases

It’s mostly F2P games like Dota, LoL, CS plus games that are really only popular in asia but earn lots of cash like Dungeon Fighter.

cough .. PC only not for too long .. cough

/its a good game, i wish dem luck/.

I hope so.

Honestly I don't understand the effort argument. I got a gaming laptop last year. I download games, I play them. No hassle at all. If I want to tinker with graphic settings then I can, but I don't need to. If I want to mod a game to get new, free, content I can but I don't have to.

Ultimately it's possible to just install a game and play it.

Before, i would share my time between playing on my pc and on my consoles, but it has been around 2 years now where i mostly play on my consoles. I even upgraded my system recently, but still felt no need to play on it.

Probably true with your AAA games. At the same time, there is a bit more competition for your gaming money on Steam than on consoles. Every time I look at Steam top sellers, I see new games popping up that I've never heard of before. You've a quite a mix in the top sellers. Some big name games like Mass Effect along with more obscure games like Bloon TD 6 (whatever the hell that is).

Pc is only a hassle if you want like a consistent framerate.

But if you play games like most pc gamers do ie with an unlocked stuttery mess of a framerate consisting of "mostly 60fps" then its basically just download the game and play.

No more hassle than console.

And then you wake up from your dream.

Really wish people would stop spreading this nonsense.

If you have low standards, especially when it comes to framerates. Which most pc fans seems to have. Then pc really is not a hassle. Its very easy to get into.

Most games work on an rudimentary level.

At some point in the not-too-distant future AAA gaming will require a screen and a controller, nothing more.

No one will upvote this, because this forum is so embroiled in the mosh pit of current gaming rivalries. But if you have an open mind to make a mental leap beyond the now, and you understand the accelerating pace of change in tech then you'll see it is inevitable.

The rise of Twitch and now crossplay is really pushing anyone into competitive multiplayer towards PC. You're a COD try-hard in Warzone? Frames win games, get on PC, play at 200 frames, set a nice wide FOV, and have at it, even stick with your controller if that's what you want to do because frankly in Warzone you're probably better off considering the amount of aim assist you get. Kinda crazy, but COD controller players of all people have been migrating to PC . Apex Legends? Same story more or less.

Fortnite? I'm not an expert but seems like you can't instantly spin in a circle and build the Taj Mahal at typical controller sensitivities. All the cracked players are on PC.

R6 Siege? Console version is considered a bit of a joke. You want to be like Beaulo? You gotta be on PC.

Rocket League? Every big streamer is pushing as many frames as possible and shaving off that input lag. You're on console, you don't get Workshop maps. No dribble course for you. No Lethamyr's Rings. Get on PC or try to survive off of free play and training pack codes.

If you want to actually stream, you really need to be on PC. And probably in short order have a second PC dedicated just to processing your capture/stream setup while your dedicated rig plays games. Janky ass console setups where you try to manage everything with your gamepad don't get it done. Even if you want to stream consoles if you're serious you're gonna have that dedicated streaming PC. And if you have that you probably are going to want a decent enough GPU in there that's going to nudge you into trying PC gaming proper.

Sure, not every gamer is a try-hard wannabe pro gamer/streamer, but I'm shocked at how many people I've seen migrate from consoles who never would have considered it in earlier eras of gaming.

OP is on point in saying that PC has the zeitgeist.

Well. PC is getting Sony first party PS4 games, probably PS5 games later, Microsoft’s first party games, indie games, most if not all third party games at the highest fidelity and performance. You might be on to something here. I think all consoles got left is being cheaper and convenience.

Doubt.

PC mostly makes sense if you want top performance and customization. Top performance puts PC well beyond the price the average console gamer is willing to pay, and if you don’t go for the best performance then you can just stick with consoles. Also, FOMO for console timed exclusive means people who really want the new Sony game will still choose console over PC. Lastly, as plug-and-play as PC can be nowadays, it’s still not as living room-friendly as a console.

I agree and the like of Halo have done well on steam. At a guess, I would still say COD, FIFA and the like sell in far bigger numbers on the consoles. And if I listen to some of this board online and DRM is terrible when that's how more PC games are now delivered, not even an option for a physical version in a lot of cases

The fact that PCs aren't standard (meaning not every PC is the same), it will never become the standard for gaming.

Blows my fucking mind when PC gamers try to spread this bullshit.

Very well said. 100% agreed.

"Runs best on PC". "On PC".

I didn't know I could go into a store and just buy "PC" and it runs every game perfectly at 4k 120.

My PC is only a year old and I spent a pretty little penny and it's already outdated as fuck and couldn't run games exactly how I wanted to and it was fucking frustrating. Now if I wanna upgrade to a better card I have a brick I just spent money on only a year ago? Repeat cycle if I wanna upgrade again.

Always feeling like your stuff will be outdated in a year or two will always be a shitty feeling when it comes to PC gaming and what always kills it for me.

Dear OP:

No it won't, and more importantly it shouldn't be.

The strength of PC is its versatility and tweakability. Things that appeal strongly to enthusiasts and hobbyists, but are somewhat neutral to turn-offs for the mass market consumer.

To make PC gaming appeal to that mass demographic it'd have to lose or deemphasize massively the things that make it great and unique.

No? Then lmfao
In all likelihood you probably will be able to.

Better to get a console and just be outdated on day one and get it over with.

pc does need to be dominant to get content he is missing (and vice and versa for other platform)...
as we are seeing limit of growth is enough to slowly get there

In 15 years we're gonna have this clients on our PC's: Steam, EGS, maybe Ubisoft, EA, some others (Embracer?) and definitely PlayStation and Xbox. So yeah, pc will become the only hardware where to play your games.

Only Nintendo will continue to make dedicated Hardware I think for more gen than the others.

LOL ahahahahahaha just no. PC's are powerful machines & the library of games if vast but nope no way in hell are they easy to get into, A million different configurations & a million ways for things to go wrong when they work it's just gravy but the moment they stop it's a fucking nightmare trying to sort out some random problem.
