I wish Sony waited until 2022 to release the PS5 and it was more powerful

I was just thinking with the cross gen announcements and Unreal 5 still not being fully ready. What if Sony waited until fall 2022 to release PS5 with Demons Souls, Ratchet and Returnal as day 1 launch games, and God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, Spiderman all getting free next gen upgrades.

How powerful would their hardware have been. Would we have gotten a more powerful GPU with better RT capabilities, DLSS, more mature tools such as Unreal 5. I feel like Sony and Microsoft should have just waited as the Pro and One X were still putting out decent games. Miles Morales still looks great on the Pro, and now that we know Pro will be able to run the next Gran Turismo and God of War I feel I would have preferred if they waited to release a next gen system.

You’ve got to think sensibly about the cost of producing a console. Sony have said that they are already losing money on each console sold, so I can’t imagine how much the console you are proposing would cost. Also, nobody has used either the Series X or the PS5 to its full potential yet, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

And more importantly, I’m really happy that I can play Returnal, Spider-Man and Demon’s Souls now, with R&C mere days away. I don’t know if you own a PS5, but it feels to me like a fully fledged next gen machine. I have more great games at my disposal now than I can remember with previous generations at this point in time.

I think it was time for new consoles. Though it does seem a bit silly that neither Microsoft or Sony could provide very much in the way of next-gen experiences. They should have planned better, because the drought was noticeably painful last generation as well.
It's not too much to ask for at least one "Killer app" around the time of launch. I don't think either really provided that.

Seing the current shitshow with the consoles, production, logistics, cross gen backtracking it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so in hindsight. By the time anyone can pick it up we might be well into 2022 anyway. And barely any next-gen exclusives at that point still.

I have a better solution for your problem and it's something that will actually happen: the PRO version, mid-gen upgrade.

No real nextgen games, lot of studios (even first parties) still developing on PS4, new engines late in development, and more importantly no competition on the other side. Everyone is having difficulties to bring the next gen, with Microsoft that struggle to show a real killer app and Nintendo still tied to the last gen.

But in the end, Covid had a big impact in development, a new console in 2020 had lot of sense in 2018 but no one could have predicted the pandemic.

I wish you didn’t have thread making privileges.

OMG.. you guys are really melting like the witch in wizard of Oz!

Let's all just take a step back and completely understand that Sony is a business and not a servant to the gamers. They do what they want when they want. Business if FIRST - period. They aren't going to cut off PS4 from Day 1 to switch over to PS5. 2) They aren't going to just keep making exclusives just for PS when MS is killing it in sales with cross platform games to PC. 3) They don't have to release a game when gamers want it released. 4) Sony is completely dependent on the architecture of AMD.. AMD still doesn't have parity with Nvidia so the better RT and DLSS is AMD's fault not Sony's.

Well considering i can't get one it feels like they didn't release shit. They don't want my money, and until they do they won't get it. Canceled my psplus sub. Sorry but if they can't provide me the hardware to buy and my ps4 jet engine sounds like its going to blow up, whats the point.

I know if they waited we may not have so many scalpers and asshole bots and greedy resellers and retailser. We may actualy have them in stores. I wouldn't have to see all these peopel on here with hardware and be jelly everytime i come to the forum.

For real. By the time this gen takes off these machines will already be outdated somewhat. At that point just wait for a pro version
See? Here is another myth that people are assuming only to be setup for disappointment yet again.

There is no proof that Sony/MS are going to make a mid-gen console. Last gen was a fluke because the systems were way underpowered. This is not the case this gen. I would be surprised if they did make a mid-gen given how hard it is to make silicon and PS5 has barely been able to go into people's hands.

Damn those fools who bought a "useless" PS5 and enjoyed games like Demon's Souls Remake,Returnal and in a few days Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. How dare they!!
Now that I learned God of War and GT7 are cross gen, Rift Apart doesnt even matter anymore.

To hell with everything we saw that wowed us, from PS5 exclusives to cross gen games. HFW is now garbage.
