You're not so smart, aren't you?? You're literally agreeing with the poll.

My most overrated game is easily TLOU2. Game was seriously boring. Characters were nowhere near as compelling as what they were in the original game (minus the great flashback scenes with Ellie and Joel), and the new characters were, quite frankly, pathetic.

RDR2 wouldn't be too far behind them to be honest. Another laborious game. Riding for 10 minutes whilst talking to an NPC about bullshit isn't fucking fun. It's a game, not a movie.

It shits me that games like this get ALL the coverage when brilliant stuff like Crash Bandicoot 4, Sackboy and Immortals came out and got no real love from the mainstream gaming community. All 3 were infinitely more enjoyable games and deserve far more praise and love than the 2 games I mentioned.

AC Black Flag , to this day I don't understand how it's critically acclaimed among other AC games , I could rant for hours on why it doesn't deserve the attention , and even for free I wouldn't waste my time with it.

God of War which was treated like second coming of Christ was most boring game I played whole generation. Even graphic is not redeeming it considering how greatly it limited rest of that game design (level design, camera fov, fighting model). Probably worst AAA title I ever played. If that's future of gaming then I'm out.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

Nah dude Dad of War is cool. It has some little flaws and the RPG elements will be better if they didn't existed at all, but the game is great.

Days Gone - I know the critic reviews were pretty meh due to bugs but everyone was recommending it like it was amazing but the story was meh and the gameplay is a chore to play

BOTW - Really boring game.. ubitowers and an empty map, not sure how this game was considered generation defining

Mario Odyssey - This was fun but it was a solid 7/10.. wasn't that amazing and the collectibles were super annoying

I also like to add some underrated games that I found really great
- Infamous SS & First light
- Order 1886
- Splatoon 2
- Ashen

All of them.

The Witcher 3 - Doesn't hold a candle to the second game. Too much crap to find on the map, and overall unfocused. Made characters from previous games worse and didn't care much about the story of the second game. It's a good game, but not a masterpiece- I'll give them credit for their expansions which blew the main campaign away.

Super Mario Odyssey - It's a good game, but neither the best Mario game or the best platformer of the generation. Boring sandbox design, and not many real challenging platforming sections. Overall a disappointment after all the hype I read about it.

God of War - In my opinion, it butchered the series and it butchered Kratos. Combat wasn't fun and I miss my cool boss battles. This is not what I want from the series. Game is decent at best.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Doesn't hold a candle to the first game. Mission are not as good, and I don't like the open world as much. Gameplay is still from the PS2 GTA era.

Resident Evil 2 - "Look how they massacred my boy"

Zela: Breath of the Wild - One of the worst Zelda games. Am I playing Hyrule's Creed or The Legend of Zelda? Breakable weapons was also a pita.

Hollow Knight - Other than the art and music, there's nothing good about this. Worst, being the absolutely useless map.

The Last of Us 2 - Make a movie already.

Uncharted 4 - Doesn't hold a candle to Uncharted 2.

Bloodborne - Cool atmosphere and fun combat, but I'll take Dark Souls over this every day of the week. I'd probably like this more if it got a PS5 upgrade. It isn't bad at all, but there are better action games.

Overwatch - Paladins is a better and less toxic game.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Parry, parry, parry, win.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Just because it has a big roster doesn't make it good. Have a smaller amount of playable characters, and do them right.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - The gameplay itself is fun, but the open world is empty, story's crap and Quiet is an embarrassment.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - The way the number bloat works ruins the game, and I'm saying this as a big Larian fan. The way they implemented the shields was also shitty. This isn't Mass Effect. If you want to get into Larian games, play the first game.

Celeste - Shit.

Monster Hunter: World - Overly convoluted and add to that boring monster fights. I'll play the portable ones, thank you very much.

Persona 5 - There are many good things about it, but they also fucked up. Too easy on all difficulties, boring party members and the game tries to send a message over and over, but contradicts itself on every turn.

Inside - All of these devs games are super overrated. Edgy platformers that don't even control that well.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - The most pointless game that also sold gangbusters. The developers must be laughing on their way to the bank. A more meaningless game, I cannot find.

Undertale - Pretty decent rpg, but it's nothing more than that.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey.. it was presented as this definitive ubermode rpg but i just couldn't get in to it.. coming from Witcher 3 i hated the way my character zoomed through the landscape like a bumper car

I would've said RDR2 but there's a point where it picks up and the pacing significantly improves from then until the end. I was so close to dropping it too.

On the flipside, Death Stranding never grabbed me in the 10ish hours I played. Its not as highly praised as the other games but I didn't find anything fun about it at all

RDR2 is a legit awful game. I also want what that shill at ign who gave pokemon sword a 9.3 was smoking

Pokemon Sword/Shield kinda slap tbh but they're hella janky and Pokemon Company/Game Freak/Bill Gates/whoever needs to put much more effort into their games. RDR2 is not awful.

As a game to actually control and play, RDR2 is absolutely awful. The controls feel bad and the game insta-failing you when you stray slightly from the incredibly narrow mission design and path is some garbage game design.

Pokemon sword offers nothing at all. The game has zero challenge at all which leaves engaging with any of its systems absolutely pointless. Why does player choice even matter when the solution to every fight is just to steamroll with your strongest guy. The forced XP share means your team will always be over leveled unless you actively avoid catching pokemon and battling, you know the major conceit of the franchise. The trash gameplay wouldn't be a problem if the world was worth exploring, but it isn't. There is nothing interesting to look at, no lore to discover, nothing that makes venturing off the critical path worthwhile. Not that you can explore anyway because the game is just one long hallway with battle after battle that you can win blindfolded. FFXIII gets shit for being a linear boring hallway, but pokemon sword does it worse. The wild areas are ugly looking and run bad. The story is basically non-existent until it is shoehorned in near the end. Hop is an awful character with nothing compelling to offer. Yes I know about type weaknesses, you can shut the fuck up now, Hop. The thing is this isn't just a pokemon game worse than nearly every other pokemon game, but compare it to any RPG and pokemon sword falls woefully short. The choice in building your team is almost pointless when there is zero challenge to overcome or consequences. I just really hate this fucking game so much. The only thing pokemon sword slapped me with was how shitty it was. An absolute chore to play (as much as you can play it that is, there is so little to actually do that it may as well play itself, but i'm sure it would be incompetent at that too) and the single worst gaming experience i've ever had. At least superman on the N64 is an interesting failure, whereas pokemon sword is a boring waste of time that feels half finished and half-assed. I feel bad for having this inflicted upon me and the game basically soured the entire nintendo switch system for me if nintendo thinks this is compelling material worth $60. A travesty from conception to finished product, Pokemon sword fails as entertainment on any level.

I certainly do. I'm not saying that ALL of those games are bad, but they are overrated. Some aren't good. Overrated does not equal bad.

Some games that I liked from 2020 are Yakuza: LAD, 13 Sentinels, The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk, Troubleshooter and Wasteland 3.

Some Early Access games also show potential, like Solasta, Baldur's Gate III and a couple more.

I'm looking forward to lots of games, too. Ratchet and Clank, Persona 5 Strikers, Ys IX, Bravely Default 2, Bayonetta 3 (if it ever releases, Hogwarths Legacy, Gotham Knights, and more.

Black Flag is one of the best pirates games ever and I still have great memories from playing it (except for the goddamn tailing missions), it's just the first of many games which shouldn't be a part of the AC franchise.

You are trying to tell me that God of War is a more boring game than LOU2? The Kratos vs Baldur fight was way more epic and way more fun than the entirety of LOU2.
20+ hours to get to 1 good fight? No thanks. It's like people telling you to watch a show but it gets good after season 3, if it takes that long to get good, not worth watching.

I was talking about the first boss battle in the game which happens within the 1st hour of playing. I would’ve said final fight if I meant the final boss battle. I also never said there was only one good fight, I only had to bring up one fight because that one fight (that happens within the first hour of the game) has more action than the entirety of LOU2.

Regardless of if you meant the first or last fight, God of War has so much filler crap in it that it becomes a chore. I think the only game worse is RDR2 (maybe Mass Effect: Andromeda, though doubt anyone thinks that one is actually overrated). Most people who voted Last of Us on this poll are just being snowflakes about it because they can't handle the subject matter. There's no way that was the most overrated game of the generation.

What about the HBO show? Is it automatically good because it is on HBO? What is it, that we leave everyone that doesn't addore TLOU in excrutiating agony?

The HBO show has a couple things going for it. The game director is directly involved in writing, so it's not going to be just another shitty adaptation by someone who's never even seen the game. The other director is the dude responsible for Chernobyl, so you know this thing will look and feel right (looking forward to the tense moments in that hotel basement). And yes, it's HBO and they rarely miss the mark - they would always be my first choice when it came to filming my favorite IP.

for me it's Undertale (hate that game with all my soul), second place would be Mario Odyssey (it's decent but it's barely as good as Sunshine, let alone 64 or any of the Galaxy games for how easy it is) and third place would be Sonic Mania, wich wasn't included but im just gonna say i dislike how they rehashed more stages than they did new ones, plus, the fanbase arround the game it's so cringy. (no SEGA won't hire anyone, Taxman had to work hard and make an engine, a tech demo and several ports of older games to even get to pitch Mania, and no, SEGA shoudn't make exclusively Mania-esque games we should be beyond the blind modern sonic hate from 2008, Sonic has changed for good get over it)

Druckmann being involved is not something i’d say the show has going for it. He shouldn’t be anywhere near it. The very fact he is involved means i ain’t watching it.

Played a few hours of Nier Automata tonight. I have never been as bewildered in my 30+ years of gaming. I don't know what I was doing, where I was going, who I was fighting or what the hell was going on. Just pure impenetrable Japanese drivel I thought.

I did enjoy looking up the main characters skirt but that wasn't enough for me to not uninstall the game and likely never go back to it.

Overrated is an understatement.

Surprised to see BOTW get so many votes. Great game.

Personally I thought this would be a closer battle between Naughty Dog's 2 efforts (TLOU2, UC4).

Didnt get a chance to play TLOU2, but thought most of the hype was negative. Having played UC4, I enjoyed it just fine....but the game proved the franchise is clearly showing its age. This outing was way too long...too padded...too much of the same ol' Nathan quippin' and killin'.
On top of that, it didn't stop the "games journalists" from giving it 95+ review scores.

My vote for most overrated game of the gen = UC4.

Animal Crossing - like seriously, what is this?
MGSV - love the game and all, but just got boring and repetitive.
Persona 5 - not saying its bad, just not that great.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
I could also say GTAonline.
Rdr2, Zelda, GOW, UC4, Sekiro,Celeste and Bloodborne aren't overrated, at least to me...
Tloupt2 doesn't seem overrated or underrated, since half the world really hate that game and the other half praise it to the high heavens. MODERated is the term to make use of.
Where the hell are Fortnite and PUBG?

Celeste. People heaped praise on the music, graphics, story, etc and just kinda fell flat for me. Not a bad game, I just didn't get the wow factor for it.

i wouldn't be surprised if its Last of Us 2. I haven't played it, but the original was overrated garbaj to me. It was a lesson in what pretty graphics, a popular dev logo on the back of the box, and a sony exclusive tag can do for you. irresistible force meeting the immovable object hype wise.

but since i've actually played it. I'll say bloodborne, since i find it unplayable. a choppy, unresponsive mess of a game. Where the skill is not playing the game, but how skilled are you at overcoming the input lag and controller

I'm guessing you're upset that The Last Of Us 2 won by a landslide.

I'm not upset. I'm way too old for console warring and it's pretty hilarious how hard that game triggered people.

I do believe that a lot of the people picking it, didn't play it though. Same with BotW and Animal Crossing. It's just a silly thread.
