Hades, launching on PS4 & PS5 August 13

It’s been a while, PlayStation Nation! Last you saw my name ‘round these parts, we were just about to launch our third game, Pyre. Fast forward a million years later (OK, more like four years later), and it’s my great pleasure to announce that our Game of the Year-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler, Hades, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles on August 13! Here’s a quick look at it:

We really appreciate your interest and patience as we put the finishing touches on Hades before it launches on PlayStation. Our small team put everything we had into this game, and we’ve focused on making sure these new versions for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 look and feel terrific on each console. We love hearing from both new and returning players, so do let us know what you think if you get a chance to give Hades a shot! Thank you for your support, and good luck getting out of Hell!

I also wanted to mention that, in addition to the digital versions slated for August 13, physical editions published by Private Division will be available at launch. These new boxed versions of Hades include a complimentary download code for the Hades Original Soundtrack, featuring two and a half hours of blood-pumping music by Darren Korb, and a 32-page full-color character compendium booklet with artwork from the game by Jen Zee. The first pressing of these versions also features a unique foil cover!
Note that both the retail and digital PlayStation 4 versions of Hades include a free upgrade to the digital PlayStation 5 version.

the bit about how they're using the DualSense sounds promising

We also take advantage of the DualSense controller’s immersive haptic feedback in certain cases, such as when you go to pet the notorious hound of hell, Cerberus. It’s a fine way of cheering yourself up a bit between escape attempts, and you’ll practically feel his breath as you pet him (especially if you keep the trigger held!). Also, later in the game, you’ll gain the ability to summon aid from certain companions, and the quick, high-intensity pulses on the Left Trigger will reassure you help is immediately on the way. Both the PS4 and PS5 versions of Hades also feature little details with the controller’s light bar, which will match the color scheme of any Olympian god you’re interacting with. Plus, there are 50 Trophies waiting to be unlocked, including a shiny Platinum if you can get all the rest.

sadly Greg also confirmed in a reply to a comment that there won't be Cross-Save support for the PlayStation version though :(

I would enjoy it on the switch as I won't expect much from that machine to start with. But this camera angle and gameplay isn't clicking.
Again I would have totally thought the same thing before trying it. It’s totally addictive and fun though. Surprised the hell out of me. No pun intended. :messenger_beaming:

I don't know, art style looks nice, but that camera position is an instant pass for me. Just like the 3rd garbage DLC by Fenyx.
Oh it’s a great game! Don’t let the camera perspective fool you/turn you off.

I’m happy this is coming to consoles, only real question that remains for me is Resolution/Framerate. Hopefully for the current systems we get 4k/60 - we should easily get this by looking at comparable PC performance.

Hey, I'm not saying it's a bad game, I think it's just not for me ;) There are many great games that are not for me, like Persona 5 for example.

I skipped Demon's Souls as well, won't play it even for free. You don't expect the market to offer only your favorite things ;)

ok, I get the hype. After the first 3 hours with this on my PS5, I´m fucking hooked. Usually, Roguelikes are not my type of game. I´m glad I listened to all the praise. So far it runs buttery smooth without any problems.

Edit. The only thing that sucks is the font size. I can´t understand how in 2021 you don't have a scaling option for this shit...

They’re extremely different. I’ve played a lot of both. I prefer Hades but I love Returnal too.

Just one more run at 12am and I have to be up at 6.

Yup, good roguelike. Story is interesting. Difficulty feels about right. Like the permanent progression, feels just right.

Good stuff.

This game is slick as hell. Only got up to the second boss last night, but had to quit, my hands were like cramping from the death grip I had. Intense stuff.

For sure. Returnal number one for me, this game is number two, everything else is a distant three.

Anyone who played Returnal and liked it NEEDS to get Hades
Man picking the best roguelike is hard...
I'll just say if you like then genre play Hades,Binding of isaac,Gungeon, Dead cells,Neon abyss, Returnal and Rogue legacy.
And of all of them I know I'll put isaac above the rest (the only I platinumed) but man for the rest It depends mostly of my mood at the time.
