Tunic - Xbox Series X Demo (Now Live)

Along with a bunch of other new demos, Tunic Demo is also live on Xbox Storefront. An Xbox PR told me to specifically search for the demo as it wasn't in the demo section when I searched for it. Loved the experience. I did die a lot as enemies tend to 2-3 shot you. It has souls like elements where if you die you lose your money. Spawn at a fox altar. If you can get the treasure drop where you died before dying again you can recover all your dropped cash. Seems like plenty of equipment. Sword, stick, dynamite, Shield, etc. One issue i had was the directional shielding. Enemies can easily clip you from the side even when the Shield is up so watch out for that. You can upgrade potion capacity by finding more in the chest.

Demo took about 25+ mins for me, but i did die a couple times. So can easily be beaten in under 15 mins if you know what you're doing. Enjoy the demo guys. Another indie gem to look forward to.

I've also been told that the demo is available on Steam, but I'm not sure if it is the same demo. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Looks great. Like a love letter to the Legend of Zelda. I'll have to see if it's on Steam.

Awesome going to download this now, been really looking forward to this game since it's initial reveal!

Edit: finished the demo and loved it, one room at the end was a bit frustrating after wasting decent items on a prior attempt not knowing what they did XD

Didn’t really feel like it needs a new topic, but I tried most of the demos, including Tunic, so I will just drop a few notes.

Standouts were:

Tunic - yeah, it looks and play well. Will play the full version.

Sable - All the videos I saw of it made the graphics look very aliased. Thankfully, it Is not an issue, at least on XSX. It runs at 30fps, probably go get that cartoon feel. Anyway, looks like a nice, meditative exploration game to get lost in.

Eternal Cylinder - it is an open world survival simulator and you play a weird looking alien that can suck resources in through his trunk. Looks interesting and ambitious for a small indie game. Has one visual moment that I have never seen in a game before,

Riftbreaker - One of the most expensive looking ones. Mixes RTS base building with a twin stick shooter mechanics. At least that is an impression I got from the minutes I spent on it.

Justice Sucks - pretty funny game that is basically Home Alone with an iRobot instead of Kevin.

Black Book - One of those card battle games (or whatever they are called), but it Is well made and Slavic folklore gives it additional freshness.

Death Trash - one of my favourites.Isometric pixel art sci-fi action RPG with a twisted sense of humour (at one point you have to vomit and use your puke to lubricate an old machine), but it seems like a very fun game.

Echo Generation is pretty great and one of the few that have a chance of becoming more popular than usual.

Paint the Town Red - There are different types of locations, but I chose to have a battle royale bar brawl. Had a laugh or two.

There were some other Ok or maybe even good games, but nothing super exciting.

Not to derail, but you mentioned other demos too, what are those?
I didn't see a list anywhere else, but if you search "SGDemo" in the Xbox Store it pulls them all up. Its a bunch of indies, couple of em look cool and of course there's the main one - Tunic.

But it is only a fraction. Go to store, the games and there you will see a demo section. For a very strange reason Tunic is not there, but I have a feeling that MS just dropped the demos and didn’t really advertise them yet. Probably in a few hours we will get the full list.

Can't believe they didn't announce it was coming at MS conference. MS marketing sucks big time, learn a thing or two from Sony with REVillage demo hype. For some people, Tunic is more important than Halo or Forza Horizon.

Microsoft has another show this week on the 17th. I would expect to see Tunic, Scorn, The Ascent, and The Gunk there.

Looks like an iOS title for some reason. Interested to see impressions on it
I mean, this is not exactly a demanding title, but there are a lot of subtle touches that you usually don’t see in mobile games, especially in how the fox interacts with the environment. But the main reason why this game is gaining traction is because it is simply fun to play.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Played the demo yesterday. The game is a lot tougher than i thought it'd be.

I love the visuals and the music is nice, very soothing. But I think I was hoping for a bit more 'Zelda', i.e. more puzzle elements and maybe some more specific dungeons with bosses/items etc.

It didn't feel like that is what they're going for with this imo, but it's always hard to tell from just a demo.
