Fable, avowed, perfect dark is the games I am looking from Xbox, aside of bethesda games.

For some reason, I can't get in to their current games. Halo, is hard to enjoy due to weapons. Gears, due to cover shooter. Fh4 good racing, not at the level of need for speed. Sea of thieves is nope. I can only handle Eso for online MMO. I might try to enjoy but they are hard, compared to Playstation side. Since most of Playstation games is just 3rd person, which is easy to get. Xbox has alot of different genre, that needs alot of learning.

Flight simulator makes me look like a retard. Hard to fly those planes, without some series studying.

FH4 not at level of Need For Speed? I would hope not because Horizon is much better than Need For Speed ever was.

Forza Horizon could really benefit from some RPG elements as well so after Fable PG, get some of that new found knowledge into FH!

It would be awesome if you could have a career where you have to not only drive but also walk around and talk to people, building relationships and making contacts as you go.

I wonder how MS plans to differentiate their different rpg franchises going forward. Will Fable and Disavowed both be open world like TES? Will they all be ‚choose your own adventure‘ type games?

Microsoft’s head of gaming was asked to provide an update on the project during the latest Dropped Frames podcast.

“The only thing I can really say about Fable is, seeing the pedigree of the team and Playground, and where they set the bar for themselves in building a game—I think that showed with the Forza Horizon 5 preview that they had—I think people should just take confidence in that [studio director] Gavin [Raeburn] and the team there have that same level of focus on doing something amazing with an IP that we know is really important to a lot of Xbox fans, so we can’t wait to get to show more, but the team is just amazing.”
Didnt realise people werent confident in playground, so far they have a great track record with forza, i think people get cobfused and think if a developer does nothing but car games then they aint capable of doing anything wrong, again its stupid because its been proven wrong so many times

I ment in term of racing. It doesn't hold a candle to need for speed. There is a reason why need for speed still going on now. The racing in the city recklessly, and having to avoid cars and buildings is what made need for speed a great racing game for me.

In term of visually, forza horizon 4 wins easily. But in term of gameplay, need for speed is miles better than forza. The street racing, and the 🚔 is what makes it stands out. Its gta of racing cars.

yeah that's about as lite as you can get!

I was thinking along the lines of GTA but focussed on the driving and without all that gangster shit. Maybe start off with some crappy pizza delivery job and work your way up to to some better paying careers that allow you to buy and customise cars for getting into a racing career along with some illegal street racing thrown in for good measure.

Cdpr went from the witcher 3 to cyberpunk2077. Even if that game wasn't cooked very well, it was big transitioning for them, considering all they did was fantasy games.

God of war went from 3d to full 3rd person behind a camera.

And as far we know, open world cars like forza are hard to make. Every details about it is insane, compared to something like the witcher 3. Especially the speed transitioning of open world.

Like I said need for speed doesn't compare gameplay wise or graphically.

When has Ninja Theory’s combat ever been bad? In which game? And please explain why you think so.
DmC while not god awful was a step down from most mainline docs. Dmc 5 showed how inferior that game was when it finally came out. Hellblade has worse combat than pretty much and third person sword fighting game I can think of. Pretty with 0 depth.

I'm not going to blindly trust a racing dev with making a RPG, sorry. They are worlds apart, the only thing that we can assume will be good in Fable are the vistas, the rest remains to be seen.

Heavenly Sword, Enslaved had really weak combat. DMC was extremely medocre because you know, it was crap when compared to other DMC games. Hellblade's combat was simple, and it worked to the game's advantage as combat was not the focus at all.

Doesn't warrant explanation when there's a consensus.

I trust Playground games to deliver a quality product. I just hope the combat actually has depth like a RPG. Not a dumbed down kids game.

He spends more time adding lol's to xbox posts than actually playing games on his beloved playstation. He must be very happy with his life.

He only plays Sony's exclusives, so since there are only so few of them and can be finished in like 8-12h, he has all the time in the world. And if HFW gets delayed to 2022 he won't be playing anything more in this year.

Imagine spending all that time hating xbox on something productive. Could probably have built hfw on his own by now.

Yes take combat advice from ninja theory, yes.
Ninja Theory made Heavenly Sword. I liked the combat in that game. Hellblade's combat felt a bit indie, but that's probably because it was indie. The combat wasn't terrible though. What are you getting at?

Believe it or not Playground games was formed by a team of people who had also worked on games that were not in the racing genre in their previous studios...
...but don't let cold hard facts get in the way of preconceived notions of what talented developers are capable of.

The only cold hard fact here is that Playground games has yet to make a rpg and a racing game can hardly be used to prove why they will make a good one.

Trevor Wiiliams, Playground's COO, former owner of Swordfish Studios when they made Cold Winter, Hostile Waters, Fifty Cent-Blood On The Sand, just to name a few.
He also had an obsession with WOW when it came out and Skyrim. This I know because I worked in the room opposite his office.
Gavin Raeburn was a coder before he became a producer...what I'm trying to make clear is that the people at the top of the Playground "food chain" are well aware of any extra talent they would need to hire to craft an RPG that lives up to the promise of Fable and will th the deep pockets of MS they will be able to afford to hire some of the best talent out there, as well as up and coming artists, designers and coders.

Personally I'm equal parts excited and intrigued by what Playground end up producing but I'm one of those rare breed "the glass is half full" types that are found in threads such as this one.

We talked about this on the International recently but I have always felt that Forza H's game engine could do wonders in some ways for like an RPG or something else. This is gonna be exciting as hell

That does make me optimistic, although it has nothing to do with their work on Forza Horizon which kind of my point.

My biggest point of contention isn’t even that Playground is known as a racing studio, but rather that Fable itself as a game owed much of its charm to the folks at Lionhead which were spearheaded by Peter Molineux, who was a visionary, regardless of whether or not Fable lived up to the promise.

Heavenly sword came out 2007. Yes I think the combat in hellblade was trash. And DmCs combat came off as ok till dmc 5 came out and made it look like a garbage can.

Yea Iiked DMC's combat. I haven't played through enough of DMC5 to really have a educated opinion. What was it about DMC5's combat that was better. It felt much slower to me. Maybe that was a good thing though?
