I don't think it should be banned but if XGP threads have to be contained in a single thread then the same should be done to all these leaker/rumor threads. It serves nothing else than giving popularity to charlatans because there's always someone falling for their "leaks".

I don’t see a point in them acquiring bluepoint they are going to run out of games to port/remake. Bluepoint can be contacted to make the next n projects. The PC porting studio makes sense because they will continue to create a bunch of new games going forward and would need someone to do the porting.

Has Bloodborne been remade or remastered yet to the PS5?

I'm not that excited about Bluepoint. I'll get excited when they design their own game and it does well. They haven't done that yet.
But given a design, they achieve remarkable results as has been proven. It begs to reason they can complement a designer/director by implementing their blueprint and vision.

Expecting some new mega IP’s coming out of Sony over the next few years.

They can also make their own game at some point

Nah. They will remake a set number of games on PS5 and lets say they aim for the PS3 generation.

Demon Souls, then go and make Killzone 2 remake, The Last Of Us 1 remake and end the generation with a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4 or some shit.

PS6 generation, for all we know shortly after The Last Of Us 3 release on PS5, we get a rumor that Bluepoint is remaking The Last Of Us 2 running on The Last Of Us 3 engine, they proceed to then remake Ghost Of Tsushima, Spiderman 1... do you not see how such a team can stay in business remaking games several generations back or?

They can go deeper with the PS1 generation with Syphon Filter or PS2 generation with The Getaway or Sly remake, the point is simply that as time goes on, games will get dated and older and by the time we are at PS6 or PS7, it will be time to remake those PS4 and PS5 games bud, it means this team will always have work.

1 team isn't going to fucking remake the entire companies games man, which means they must pick and choose what they focus on, which means this concept of "run out of games" doesn't really make much sense as time continuing means they will always have a pool of older titles to reach from as TIME ITSELF will continue to date those games.....

So many, many fans can see just why Sony wants Bluepoint as a team they own in house as I don't think Sony has plans to stop remaking, they might plan to do that every single generation... I don't see why not tbh.

jakinov jakinov I don't think you understand how hard it is to come by a team that actually can remake and port titles this good.

Sony is correct to buy them. Its not a normal thing to have a team really put out that many ports, remakes, remasters etc at a great quality like they do.

So them not making their own IP, doesn't mean they won't in the future. They've already made comments about wanting to do one and I don't see why not, Sony could grow the team to do both.

So yes, they do need to pay those owners and scoop up that time before someone else does. We've seen many shitty ports and remasters to really be out here pretending its an easy thing.

Theres plenty of games to remake. Theres a bunch of PS2/PS1 and PS3 games to remake. Aswell as IP’s from 3rd party studios.
Plus they want to create some games too like they have said in the past
Most of them they probably won’t even consider to remake and whatever size it is the list shrinks and shrinks. Bluepoint has yet to prove that they can make a full original game on their own.

BP has shown they can create assets fast. Their motion capture animations are top notch. The need to take the big step and actually design some new levels, add new a.i and bosses and they can do that with the mgs remake which hopefully isn't a 1:1 copy looks sotc and demon souls.

i think they are great at what they do. However, since they have been doing ports and not so crazy remakes they get to likely have shorter pre-production phases, less trial and error and more limited in what avenues they pursue. For whatever remakes Sony wants to make they can simply make a multi-project deal with them. They don’t need to pay out the owners in a shit ton of cash and then pay a bunch of money to make the actual games.

Talent is talent, whether it is technical or artistic. Owning them means setting direction without competing against all other publishers.
Then contract them for your next N projects then dump them. Sony has signed multi project deals in the past with independent studios. You can tell them exactly what to do when you contract them to do specific work.
Has Bloodborne been remade or remastered yet to the PS5?
Which is why they could always contract them to make that one if they wanted to.

My sentiments are largely the same. Unless they showed Sony some bomb ass new IP that they want to make, what is the point?

Cause they're cheap and they want to shut their fans up about acquisitions....

Is my guess.

Much cheaper than buying something meaningful..... like Bungie or Remedy or..... hell, even IOI.

The reaction of "fans" is absolutely meaningless outside of places like this and places like this are far too insignificant to mean anything in the real world. The only places that communities like this really matter is inside places like this, it's absolutely insignificant in terms of how succesful their busines will be. This is place is tiny and for a company that sells an average of over 115 million consoles per generation it wouldn't affect them if every single member that this place has ever had publicly decreed that they have never and would never buy a PlayStation.
The importance of what people think of the brand is only relevant in the general public who will probably never be aware of names like Bluepoint Games, Bungie, Remedy or Bethesda but still manage to buy an average of 115 million PlayStation home consoles throughout the generations. it would be awful if the console manufacturers started pandering to places like this.

I agree, they should ignore everybody here, except for me. They should just listen to me. Always.

In regards to running out of games to remake, with one every few years I really don't think it's an issue.....the only question I have is how long will it be before they get to G-Police!

Plenty of games with enough history to warrant a remake.
True and Bluepoint are amazing, they did incredible work on Demons Souls. I'm just a cantankerous old git.

SOTC was superb too and I think they could even give it another once over for this generation.

SOTC only needs a patch for quality mode at 60fps on PS5, the current remake is good for a long while.

I'm thinking about other games that deserve remakes.

What if...bluepoint is not the last acquisition and Sony will announce SE/CAPCOM acquisition at the Playstation event ; )

Not sure if joke or not, but no, SE and Capcom public trading companies, we will know about negotiations long before deal completion.

Not really unless you're just refering to rumours.

Officially everything will be private until they're ready to announce a buyout

If they acquiring bluepoint, it would be sad for bluepoint to be forced into doing remakes and remasters forever. They are a talented studio, allow them to make their own game.

Hopefully this is true, loving the competition between Sony and Microsoft, just brilliant for us gamers to have two companies investing in studio's like this.
Would been interesting though to see Bluepoint make a Killer Instinct remake before being a aquire by Sony.

Will never happen but would been interesting.

I'm sure Bluepoint would be allowed to pitch ideas to Sony. Some of the devs said they are interested in making games so I'm sure they will bring the topic up with Sony.

I honestly believe your underestimating what Sony is capable of with these studios.

Or they can give them an IP and take it from there.

If Bluepoint was offered to make a Guardians of the Galaxy game, I think they'll do a much better job than Square.

Absolutely, there is a shit ton of games needing a remake, reboot, remaster, sequel.

In no particular order:
- Syphon Filter
- Tokyo Jungle
- Tenchu
- Dino Crisis
- Jak & Daxter
- Sly Cooper
- Ape Escape
- Twisted Metal
- PS All Stars Battle Royale
- Motorstorm
- Mark of Kri
- Parappa
- Wild Arms
- Wipeout

…. and literally hundreds more.

Man, what they did to my boy Wild Arms is a fucking travesty. The first one is still the best one. If only Alter Code F had a OST worth a damn. It was ike remaking the first one, doing mostly everything right, but shitting on half of what made Wild Arms so great to play. The fucking Soundtrack.

So this was true?
Thread 'Bluepoint to remake several METAL GEAR titles exclusively for PS5 due to Sony/Konami partnership | FF7R for PS5 & PC soon' https://www.neogaf.com/threads/blue...ami-partnership-ff7r-for-ps5-pc-soon.1586286/

Sony imprinted money with Spider ip, the deal with Marvel was really successful. I think it is a good possibility they are looking for more deals like this.

Some 3rd party would be resistant to sign this kind of deal with others manufacturers, but not with Sony. They are already well known for their high quality productions.

Not at all. I loved demons souls and their mgs hd collection. Id just like to see them make a new ip and not a remake of killzone 2 or some shit

I don’t think people get how the combination of Bluepoint and Nixxes could facilitate a literal production line for porting, enhancing, remastering and remaking historic ips.

Nah, Sumo Digital would be next on the list with them having worked on the LittleBigPlanet games and also Sackboy: A Big Adventure as well as a load of arcade style racing games over the years. They'd fit in well with the recent acquisitions as they also haev a history in porting games to other platforms. :messenger_winking:

I have some mixed feelings about Sumo Digital though. They made some really bad games in the past.

I think it'd be a neat acquisition. Sony have plenty of studios for pumping out big first party games, I think having a studio dedicated to revamping older, beloved titles would be pretty cool.

Sumo is too big, they will cost billion easily, and for what? Sackboy?

Edit apparently they are public company, and their current marketcap is ~870kk $

Another day, another rando clamoring to get attention on Twitter, and people give it to them.

I didn't look into it enough because honestly I didn't really care too much, but if Sony Japan really DID post that Bluepoint acquisition message/graphic then I'm sure it's real. They just weren't ready to share that info, so of course they're going to deny it. That's really all there is to it. If anything, be patient.

At this point, we have a new person every few days saying, "Well I KNOW someone that said THIS is happening on THIS day!"......

Right. :pie_eyeroll:
