Let's Address The Elephant In The Room. Switch OLED is ONLY $50 cheaper than a PS5

But non commodity products aren’t priced based on what they cost to make. That’s not how it works.
So you think it ok if they Make like example another Switch console update with like longer lasting battery and not improve the specs whatsoever and charged it 450 will you still buy it than.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
You pay for what you get. People get fun out of the Switch. Nintendo thinks they'll be getting $350 worth of baseline fun over the life of the console. If the market agrees with them, people will spend that amount of money.

Now, Craig of War Craig of War , it's up to you to prove that people will not get $350 worth of fun out of the Switch OLED.

Switch OLED gives you an updated screen and slightly more storage for $50 more. PS5 makes you pay an extra $100 for a disc drive.
I have no problem paying 500 for a PS5 though since it has more than enough specs under the hood to last me all through next gen. The Switch OLED has 2012 specs in 2021 and who knows when the next version will come out so.

My point is it underpowered outdated.

No it's not. Don't deflect. Don't change what your original issue was. Your original point was it cost peanuts to make so it should cost accordingly.

And to that I said:

"But non commodity products aren’t priced based on what they cost to make. That’s not how it works."

You may be disappointed, that's fine. You hate it, sure, I have no arguments there. I'm not going to buy it either. What I absolutely cannot stand is when people say "it cost x to make so it should cost y".

No, price is a function of demand, it always has, always will be. The world doesn't work on: cost + "your feeling of what constitutes a fair markup".

Put the two side-by-side and see which one a kid will choose. Nobody wants a digital only console with no screen that's humungous. Switch OLED is elegant.

$499 is too much for a $399 system with a $20 disc drive.

How can such an outdated hardware of a console be priced anywhere near $350? It's so underpowered yet, it costs just $50 US Dollar less than a PS5 Digital Edition. The Switch OLED is now more expensive than the Xbox Series S is,
While I agree that Nintendo's products in general are expensive for what they are... The series S is pretty expensive for what you get the kind of money it cost... At least the new switch has an OLED screen, but it could use much more storage.

What time is it?
It's a Switch with an OLED. You don't even have to buy it. It's really weird how people get wound up over these completely non-essential electronic goods. If you don't like the price then just say BYE. It's as easy as that.

How dare you be so insensitive to Craig's trauma. You heartless bastard!

I'm glad that your Nintendo induced, crippling depression still allows you to meme.
I still love Nintendo though but you just have to call something out when it like this. I been waiting months for news bout the Switch Pro and they give me this my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Don't buy into rumors. Switch sales are still going strong. This year and probably next are a really bad time to launch upgraded hardware.

Is it overpriced? Yes

Does it matter? Not really

Nintendo know they can sell millions either way but personally, it is ridiculous that a ps5 digital is only $50 more when you look at the difference in hardware. Actually a genius move by Sony to get such a powerful console at just $399.

It fine if you want to buy this revision of the Switch Bender but people making a point about how it not a good look for Nintendo also has a valid point.

No they don't. It "not being a good look" is a point purely about their own expectations and their own personal criticism of Nintendo. There is nothing to critique here, it's the price of a completely optional product. Some people will buy it without any hesitation and some won't. Move on.

Series S is selling at a loss so is the Series X and PS5 Digital and Disk version. No i don't not agree with you that it expensive considering if you try and build a PC with a Series S specs it gone to cost you 400-500 plus.

There is plenty to critique here and i did just that. The specs did not change and it already way underpowered, the price actually went up by another 50 wile basically changing nothing but the screen panel. if any other gaming company try to pull this stuff off they would get roasted alive but since it Nintendo they can do no wrong which i completely disagree with thus i made this post.

I mean, PS Vita went the opposite direction and switched from OLED to LCD with the Vita 2000. $249-299 MSRP to $199.

So? Get back to me when you can play your PS5 on the train or in the car.

Referring to Nintendo hardware as “underpowered” etc is stupid, I thought that argument was left behind years ago. It’s only underpowered if it can’t do what it was supposed to do properly. It does what it is made to do very well, which is why it’s selling gangbusters and will likely outsell the PS5 for the next few years.

You can just ignore it then and stick to whatever gaming set up you think matches your value expectation then. There is no essential reason for you buy this so why do you even care about the cost? You just have a weird problem with Nintendo and people buying Nintendo things because it doesn't meet your personal standards.

I was hoping they would at least make a small hardware refresh, not because of the competition but because a lot of recent games have been running quite poorly (P5 Strikers, Age of Calamity and now Ys IX). Loading times are also becoming more difficult to stomach once you start using the new gen consoles in parallel.

But if you were going to buy a Switch amyway the OLED model seems to be worth the extra 50 compared to the default one.

So many people still don't get it. The vast majority of consumers do not buy on specs. They buy on perceived value.

Which game system has Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario Kart?
They come here see specs wars and think that the average guy who barely can surf the internet cares how many tf is a new Nintendo switch. My parents were calling every console I owned super Mario. I was playing on PS1 and they were telling me not to play so much super Mario and when I wanted to buy PS2 they were against it because I did not need a new super Mario, but you can say they are from old generation. I work every day with 80 people and most of them are 25 to 40 and very few have any understanding of technology past YouTube and Facebook scrolling.

Must be a small elephant as I don't see it.

If you feel something is overpriced, then don't buy it?

Or maybe I just shouldn't read threads where people complain about irrelevant things.

The Series S is in no way expensive when compared to the Switch, nor "for what you get" either, which is a console capable of 120fps, 1080p+, ray tracing, and comes with a 5000GB NVMe SSD, has Game Pass, etc.

$50 cheaper than PS5 and it plays Nintendo games.

A new platformer and action RPG every 4 years... 🤷‍♀️

I don’t see anyone saying that.

Not here explicitly, but I've already seen a "the market will decide" post which is in the same vein.

I’m still unsure on what to get to play Dread. The OLED is such a jump in price compared to the Lite that I constantly see at 179.99 on Amazon.de. Hardcore Metroid fan here so I will need a console to play it but do I really want to pay double the price for an OLED screen?

I don't think it's much of an elephant. Charge what consumers will pay. If the system sell well, then Nintendo was smart.

In the end, no one cares about power differences. People want to play the games they like. If you enjoy Nintendo games, you won't be able to play them anywhere else, so the cost is justified. If there was no competition from Xbox, Sony would probably price the PS5 higher, because gamers would be more willing to pay the premium then. It is what it is.

Yes it did not meet my personal standards i was expecting 1080p handheld and 1440p docked but what i get was it did not change at all.

Am i the only one that play my Switch exclusively in docked mode? im sure i can't be the only one in this world. They are underpowered i know the games are not demanding but still i would killed for a 1080p handheld and 1440p upscaled docked switch but was devastated when they reveal this.
