Following Metroid Dread and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, a new Golden Sun should be next

I really enjoyed playing all three Golden Sun games back in the day and wish we could get a sequel to Dark Dawn. Especially considering it ended on a cliffhanger. I feel like the developer Camelot are being underutilized only working on Super Mario sports games. Maybe there isn't enough fan demand for Nintendo to bring back this RPG series but I hope Metroid Dread and the Advance Wars duology remaster are the start of the company realizing they have many beloved IPs worth revisiting with new releases. Golden Sun games have always looked great, with exciting turn-based battles, solving puzzles with different Psynergy, collecting and utilizing all of the Djinn and their summons in your party, and an entertaining story all with its charming graphics.

You might also remember Camelot as having created the Shining Force games for SEGA in the '90s. But what are your thoughts on the Golden Sun games, GAF?

3 killed the series.
Golden sun is dead
Hm. I agree it was like Golden Sun Kids but most people didn't play it and it would be easy to put the series back on track. I mean it's a principle of just giving people what they want.

Issue is the budget to make such a game this day (GBA>DS>3DS budgets are gone), and will from Camelot, I really don't think they're that into it these days, or it would have happened already.

Starting off with Golden Sun 1 & 2 enhanced versions would be the way to go though, it's the original blueprint after all and it sure didn't age badly.

That's the hope.At the very least, a new Golden Sun or a remake of 1 and 2 should do potentially as well as that Advance Wars Remake.

But its up to Nintendo to see if they are interested. In my opinion, Golden Sun could be THE Nintendo turn based combat franchise.

The Advance Wars game is a remake, and I dont see people complaining.

The original game was made with Pixelart that, while good, wouldn't translate all that well against the myriad of excellent looking pixel art games out there.Especially the battles.

So yeah, it needs a remake, much like Advance Wars is getting one.I mean, Im assuming here that they will be faithful to the original two games, but the graphics needs a overhaul if the game is ever going to have a chance of survival. And the gameplay could use one or two changes to make it more modern and compelling, for a lack of a better word.

Give us new Golden Suns + remake the 1st
Camelot making Nintendo sports titles is a waste.

Hiroyuki Takahashi is a great RPG maker, he should be utilised properly not for sports games.

While they are at it make a nee Earthbound/Mother etc

I only played the first one and it’s not even that good. The only reason people gave a shit about Golden Sun was because it was the first original JRPG for Gameboy Advance.

If it had released on PlayStation instead, nobody would even remember it. Every Golden Sun fan I knew was a Nintendo-only and/or handheld-only household and hadn’t played any of the vastly superior JRPGs for PlayStation.

Also they pulled the old “Camelot Special” within the first hour of the game: “important character is missing presumed dead…. and on an unrelated note, who’s this mysterious masked stranger who just showed up out of nowhere?” Same exact shit they did in their previous game (Beyond the Beyond). Also did a similar thing with the original Shining Force ending.

And BTW the last JRPG Camelot made was GS3, 11 years ago, and was largely considered a disappointment by GS fans (probably because their memory of the originals is tainted with nostalgia). There’s roughly 0% chance that a new GS would be good should Camelot make one.

The switch still has many life in it and its a single system that is selling like hotcakes and perfect for this time. There is no more 2 teams(handheld and console teams) like before. They can experiment and also do core games for both customers. Its a great time to be a gamer and a Fan of Nintendo, with more switch upgrades in the pipeline and with Nintendo and NVIDIA working together the future looks bright.

Golden Sun was good for its time, but frankly their rpgs mechanics weren't that good and neither deep.

Not really much worth replaying it, as much as I like the game.

They half assed Dark Dawn. I think Golden Sun is effectively dead and Camelot will resign itself to making Mario Sports games forever.

Golden Sun and The Lost Age are the only good entries.

Which is a shame since Golden Sun is going to always be my favorite RPG.

Damn shame it is that Golden Sun has joined the table reserved for games like F-Zero and Custom Robo.

I think the only good thing to come out of Dark Dawn was Sveta. Werewolf Adept was hype.

I'd much prefer that than Xenoblade. Camelot could have been up there with Square or Atlus if they kept on their path.

Doubt it. At best they might’ve been like a tri-Ace or Game Arts. Their games were never in the same league as their contemporaries from Squaresoft, Enix, Konami, etc.

just look at Beyond the Beyond, GS’s spiritual predecessor. Maybe the most bland and generic JRPG ever made. It came out at a time when Playststion was starved for JRPGs, yet people completely ignored it in favor of the vastly superior SNES games from around the same time period. It’s preposterous to compare them to Square.

Camelot should do Shining Force IV. Shining series is the best thing they did in they entire existence.

The outsourced company that has been remastering SaGa games would be an excellent fitt for a remastered collection. Leave Camelot alone

I'm complaining, it looks like shit and I wish they didn't bother.
Honestly?Looking the reception around the internet, it feels like( my opinion if it wasn't obvious) that people that didn't like it or "prefered the IP to stay dead than to use this horrendous artstyle" is in the minority.
