thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Very talented level designs (50+ hour game, longest zelda game in a while) none of these hype trailers walkthroughs have said how long Skyward Sword is.

Lowkey hyped to play this for the first time!

It's runs at a locked 60fps right?

How many hours (more or less) when taking your time?

Already pre-ordered. Why?
  • Still own the Wii version but my Wii is busted.
  • I prefer emulation with Henriko's texture packs for all Zelda games... except this one. I could never get a satisfactory control experience emulating SS.
  • The only 3D Zelda my 8 year old hasn't played, and this clearly will be the best way to play it (60fps @ 1080p will help the suffering Wii presentation/control a great deal).
  • Looks like they tightened up the slow, early part of the game in this version.
Do I hate paying full price for a port of a Wii game? Yeah, kinda. But this is basically a completionism thing for my Zelda loving family.

Wow that looks like pure shit for a full retail priced 2021 release.

This should be a budget or lower priced release.

No wonder we don't get any new games or IPs from Nintendo, all they need to do is put a tiny bit of spit shine on their old games and charge full price.

I bet before we see any new games from key IPs they'll just rererelease the same old shit again.

Yeah it should be priced around 30€
Better yet, they should've gone with TP, WW, SS all remastered combined. That's imo worthy of a full price. Just you know; a fair deal.

Every company understands this, but Nintendo doesn't have to. Their games are so thirsty and beaten down they'll take anything. If Nintendo owned Spyro or Crash you'd have never seen those trilogy packages with reasonable prices and incredible work and effort put into each title.

Try releasing any of the Crash or Spyro games today with increased resolution, and see what happens. Compare that to Mario 64 with a resolution boost in the 3D All-Stars re-release. The fact is that Mario 64 still plays fantastically to this day, and Crash and Spyro are almost completely unplayable and would be repelling people even if released for free. They're literally worth different amounts of money.

Nintendo definitely doesn't spend a lot on re-releases. But the good news is they do tend to make 10/10 masterpieces that maintain their appeal for decades pretty regularly. It's not that Nintendo fans are thirsty, it's that Nintendo first party games are typically made extremely, extremely well and hold their value for years.

Take Nintendo completely out of it and just look at the used game market prices for first party Nintendo games. They don't control the price there at all, yet they're still sought after for years at near full price.

Even the recent Crash and Spyro remakes are already literally worth less than Nintendo first party games from decades ago. Even with the shiny and improved graphics, and 3 games on one disc, they're already forgotten and cheaper games with less interest and less used value.

Fair points Punished Miku Punished Miku I agree

Still sucks..

Anyway...

I see it's 60fps, nice! I know close to zero about Skyward Sword so much of my hype is based on that; a new Zelda experience. Coupled with the, for myself, very important QOL shine it's gotten as well as the 60fps. After BoTW (still put 240+ hours in it) and HW: AoC I'm looking very much forward playing a smooth Zelda!

Also, I'm really in a mood for a Zelda game, so great timing!

Camera control? That will actually make things a lot nicer. That’s one of the reasons I preferred the Gamecube version of twilight princess to the Wii version.

There are things I love about previous Zelda games, but gameplay isn't necessarily one of them. Sacrilege, I know. I like the time travel concepts, the awesome music, the atmosphere.

But I really don't care for "here is a new puzzle mechanic. Go through the dungeon and exploit this mechanic in every way possible." I respect the intelligent design, but I find it an utter bore compared to BOTW, where it's on you to combine your tools and figure out what and how to use.

Couldn't find an OT thread. I just preordered this in the UK and wanted to let people know you can get it for ~£39 on Curry's site right now:

You just put that code it mentions in the listing in at checkout, I wasn't about to pay £50 and thought £35 would be ideal, so this is great.
