Probably a lot 🤷‍♂️

I'm going to wait for release to see if they were lazy with it and/or introduced new problems that make the QoL and 60fps improvements not worth it over emulating it on PC where I can get enhanced textures, billion-K resolution and fixes for low precision effects that weren't noticeable at Wii resolution but might stand out at 1080p.

Ofc, none of my issues will affect the sales figures to any major degree.

I put 5 million. Regardless of its rep among the hardcore, it's coming off the back of BotW on a system that's still selling hot, and there's no motionplus add-on to buy.

I could see it doing significantly more or less than that though, so IDK.

I’m guessing between 3-5 mil. The game does have a reputation so I don’t expect BotW numbers but it may outsell the Links awakening remake

I said 1 million but I'm thinking it could be higher, or possibly lower.

I've said it before but for kids whose first experience with Zelda was BOTW, I think they are going to hate Skyward Sword if they get it as a gift not knowing what the game is actually like.

It'd be like giving an old Lucas Arts adventure game to your nephew who onlys plays Fortnite. They'd probably hate it and lose interest after 5 minutes.

I also have a hard time seeing older people buying it in droves cause they were around when it released on Wii and if they didn't play it then, they probably won't now considering it's been like 10 years. Analog controls aren't going to change the game that much for the better (maybe the swimming & beetle controls but that's it really). The game isn't bad but it was some huge issues that really prevent it from being as fun as it should be. Too much backtracking, combat gets tedious after a while, a certain repeating boss fight that is usually rage inducing on the 2nd and 3rd go, FI is fucking trash beyond reason.

I'm really curious about the reviews though, that's what I'm dying to see.

never played this on the wii, so if im looking for a good classic zelda should i choose this or awakening to play?
They're very different games. Play Skyward Sword if you're ready to go all in on motion control, or take a chance on the new button control mode. It's a divisive game in the series due to dense puzzles concentration across the whole game with less open exploration, and some repetition. Link's Awakening is solid, but it's a top down game modeled after a Gameboy game.

Personally, I think the mainline 3D Zeldas are on a different level, but they're both great games.

You'll probably have more fun with Link Awakening but SS has better music and when it's good, it's really good in a way that LA can't compete with. But when it's bad, it's almost unbearable. I think Link's Awakening is an overall more enjoyable experience.

Just watch some videos, the Wii version of SS is essentially the same thing as what the Switch is getting, and the QOL change in having the item boxes being streamlined is honestly one of the lesser annoying things in SS for the Wii. There are far greater gaming sins in SS than the item box popping up.

5 million seems pretty reasonable to me. I have zero interest due to the control scheme but considering the first party drought many switch users will buy it regardless.

I put 5mil. Just a bit more than Wii's numbers for traditional controls, possibly new customers wanting to try a "new" Zelda other than BOTW, and I think Switch customers are more actually into games compared to Wii's more casual demographic.

Eh, let's see.

I've been waiting for this game for so long but the scummy thing they're doing with the Amiibo turned me off enough I've decided I'll likely skip ever playing this game.

Both are great. I suggest playing LA first, then SS, keeping in mind that they are very different games. If you have never played a Zelda game, you should play Link to the Past on the Switch Online.

At least the same, realistically 5 million. No way 15 million.

I don't really track sale numbers so I can't guess, I put 10m. I'll be one of them once I figure out how to get an English language version playing on my Japanese WiiU...

Now that Fi won't be as annoying and people won't be forced into motion controls I'm interested to see if sentiment around this game changes.
FI wasnt the point for me and many others, why this game was so bad. It was the Level Design and this havent changed.

Both. Any TLoZ fan who hasn't played Skyward Sword should experience the game at least once. The main theme for Skyward Sword is pretty epic. And when the staff roll credits come around after you finish the game, that track is incredible too. With Skyward Sword, the story is there for the fans and it can feel kind of heavy as it touches with beginnings and creation. The story is powerful
