I've got a very strange life, changed work many times and most of those were really succesfull (managed to buy a home, car and all I wanted) but at the same time I've never managed to keep doing the same thing for more than 5 years, I just get bored and change.

4 Years ago I left my employment work to try again to go alone. I started teaching Tango Argentino in a professional way and opened an IT shop, Everything was going wonderfull, I didn't work too much but at the same time I managed to bring home a good amount of money.

Then Covid happened, my dancing school died (I kept saying it is on pause, but I know it is dead) and with that 60% of my income died. My It shop kept working and even managed to get better but most of my clients were from a diferent place and couldn't come to me and in a year I lost a lot of them.

Now I'm struggling, for the first time since I was 19 I'm struggling and month by month I can see the debt starting to rise. Atm I got only 2k euro in debt so no big deal but I'm not used to it. At the same time my GF doesn't seem to get the situation and everytime I try to talk to her she just say "change your work"...like if going back to be an employed is gonna be easy.

I can see that we will have to face at least another year like this and I already contacted my last employer that is really happy to have me back, and I already can sense the pressure they will put on my the first year (I know they can be vengeful)

Now it is my choice.

What do you guys think? Should I jump ship again? Should I keep strong and wait for better times? any of you have had the same situation?

P.S. This is more of a vent post to be honest, I live in Italy and I'm 38 yo, not much here but a lot in the states as far as I understodt from this forum :)

Well we in dangerous time, europe printed even more money than usa, iirc, stock and crypto being manipulated down. But we potentially in another 2020 year, some investments could again do 40-100x multiplier within a year or a few years.

Difficult to tell what cryptos or stocks will do this. My last ride of tesla wave paled in comparison to some of the gains like mara stock and riot stock, and cryptos like ada and doge.

Recommend R&D stocks and cryptos investment(including staking and mining, staking and mining can do $1000s a month), particularly USA stock market. Hear some european countries haven't had as good a stock market return locally.

Also recommend building an online presence, influencer status if obtained gets you free products as well as tons of ad revenue regardless of platform. You can build an anonymous online presence or a nonanonymous online presence. Tons of risks with nonanonymous presence especially if you're controversial(haters will spit on your food when employeed in restaurants, harass you, threaten your family, send swat teams to your house, etc)

How the freak can you recommend such risky behaviour to a dude who is very obviously struggling? You don't pour gasoline to stop a fire.

Sometimes in life, the best solution is to play it safe. The man is 38 years old and he has an out with the old job being offered for him even though it's short term pain for long term gains and you're talking about crypto tokens. Gotta use some common sense.

? I said R&D, and should say with care. Without investments you'll always be a slave to the system, only through being one with capital can you be free in capitalism. And time is the greatest asset on your side, the earlier you start the better it will be for you.

Some stock indexes double every 7 years, sp500, warren buffet says he'd recommend. Others double every 5 years though some even within a year or months.

A few doublings and exponential growth will grant you freedom. Those who seek freedom need to know the path of freedom.

ed
But if you want easy more freedom with your time, a more realistic position is become a real estate agent, a few houses sold a month and you'll have a doctor's wage with all the time to spare.

ed 2
Interesting will be what will happen, global money printing has been unprecedented, unless they pull a miracle stock and real estate value likely to skyrocket as a result of asset inflation. Quantitative easing lead to a decade of unprecedented US stock growth, and some say that stuff is sketchy.

You can try to do a bit of both. I would say get stable work, even if it's part time. Then, I would pivot your IT shop to a mail in, if it's a break fix, or go remote support if it's consultation work. IT got accelerated big time by the lockdowns so that won't get affected as much.

that was what I was trying to get across with my post, the importance of passive income. Stocks, staking, real estate rental properties, etc.
Well yes, but the OP really makes it sound like he just latches into a new thing without any long term plan. GF likewise seems...a little bit irresponsible with her comments.

Unfortunately with careers you can try stupid shit early on, but by the time you get to 30-32 you should really think long and hard at how you want to play it. Go corpo? Ok, but pick a company you can grow in and be promoted. Want to go on your own? Ok as well, but have a good plan and be ready to work your ass off for little return at the beginning.

Guy is 38yo and still no talk about family - this is going to be another life-changing situation.

Here I am, nice to see all the responses, I'll try to catch up and answer everyone.

I would swallow it and get back to my old job. At this time, you'll need that stability and do something on the side if needed to get back on your feet.

Yea it is totally what I will probably do, I am a bit scared cause it has been a while since I've been an employed, in the long run it will be better I hope

Sorry to hear about your tango school. That sounds like a lot of fun. Surely people will want to come back?

Probably someone will come back but I think the scar in the society will last a bit longer than the pandemic itself, Tango is a disipline that requires a lot of contact and part of the fun is changing couple (there are a lot of rules about it), not exactly the best thing to do in this moment in time.

Demand your GF starts an OnlyFans and tango yourself to the bank..

I emphasize and wish you the best <3

Already asked, didn't work as expected :pP I'll try to do one, I'm not that bad :D

I used to have some saving b ut no passive income, the idea was to start renting part of the house I bought but tha was december 2019 and everything stopped.

I also have some bitocoins but ... you know, selling them now is like wasting them (not that I didn't think about it)

I got no interest in family neather my GF (at leastg for now, if something will change I can't know), I dunno why but family is not really appealing for me (probably I'm a "forever young" kind of person, I'l allso probably regret when I'll be older)

There are potential cures for all cancers on the horizon, with the right lifestyle and nutrition you won't suffer from neurodegeneration, muscle degeneration nor osteoporosis. Your arteries won't clog. A lifespan of a century is easy within reach with such. And if singularity does happen aging will go bye bye.

I'm also not a fan of family either. In today's information age most people filled to the brim with ton of superstition and erroneous beliefs, stubborn to the bone, and merely causing unnecessary conflict and taboo topics. Too much bother, you speak and you speak and almost like you were Jesus they hear but do not understand, almost like speaking to blocks of concrete.

Most people live in a world of lies, their whole lives built around lies, for someone with the light of truth, mere exposure can only shatter their worldviews. But all lies cannot but reflect the truth, they cannot fail but to retell the truth, just as in the tale of the brother that told only lies and the brother that told only truths, in the end the liar reveals himself a liar and reveals who is telling the truth, or so the parable goes.
