Ugh just watching a video now and it looks like they've removed the dash, ground pound, and slide?

edit: just saw controller settings in the stream, slide is in but the others are out :(

Yeah, bit of a bummer, they made H5 really unique. It was great to see what Pros could do with that stuff

Got into a match on PC after about 3-4min of trying. It was 4v4 against bots. Had a good time from the limited play I've experienced. Went through all the tier-1 weapon training challenges, too. I'm on Ryzen 1600+2060S. At 1440p/medium settings getting about 47fps in the training runs, and 37fps avg in multiplayer.

Averaging 45-50FPS in match with 2600X/1660 Super with all settings on High. Got a couple of games in and it's been great. Gunplay feels good and the movement is really nice. Bots are also pretty decent, but I'm hoping they do open up the 4v4 PvP!

I'm in and ready to kill bots. Now if only Halo 1-3 had them. If they did they would have survived forever in terms of offline content since online player vs. player servers don't last forever (Halo 2 and 3). However it's not too late 343, you still have a chance with the MCC to add them in.

Nah yeh. Halo's combat needed to......*ahem*.....evolve. Slow lumbering walking shootouts don't fly anymore. Adding in the expanded movement made the skill ceiling so much higher and the fights more intense.
They are making Halo evolve with Infinite....by removing dash

nobody asked to have dash, ground pound and all that silly nonsense. halo reach was indeed questionable at times but it very well did feel like a halo game. halo 5 though? lmao yeah follow the trend and be just as casual as shitty cod so it doesnt feel like halo anymore.

why change something that already felt pretty awesome? clearly they listened to feedback and infinite seems to be catching everyones attention because it sure as hell looks halo to me.

Lots of people asked for more than just a slow walk and jump. They've kept sprint, slide, and clamber, so clearly people liked them and gave them good feedback, right?

This is still more Halo 5 than Halo 1-3 in terms of movement, thankfully. Dash was amazing though, sucks they removed it.

Halo 5 was the first game where you actually felt like how Halo 1-4 and all the lore had described Spartans.

Sprint was already in halo since Reach. This discussion was about dash and ground pound. No one complained about slide and clamber in Halo 5. For what it's worth, armor lock is still the most offensive thing put in halo MP imo

Sprint as it is has not been in Halo since Reach.

No one complained about slide and clamber in Halo 5? Yeah they did haha. They caused massive upset because they "don't belong in Halo". Clamber especially.

Armor lock was amazing fun though haha. Seriously broken, but damn it was fun.

Dash is just for players who arnt aware of whats going on and need an easy escape. I just wish they would keep the team sizes to 8 and smaller so the maps wont be fucking trash. Warzone/invasion is fucking retarded.

I could be wrong about slide but I really don't remember this massive pushback against clamber lol. Sprint has been endlessly debated in the Halo community since Reach. No one gives a fuck about clamber. It's just there. Armor Lock was only fun when someone was trying to run you over, but yes it was hilariously broken.

Halo 5 evolved the movement and was much more enjoyable as a result. Removal of dash and pound would be a step back in my eyes (but will reserve full judgement until I play myself).

Playing Halo 1 to 3 MP these days is such a plodding affair at times, it feels dated and limited.

Clamber had tonnes of hate because it supposedly changed how levels were made. People complained that now there were jumps that would previously been out of reach, so levels have been made to require climbing, as if that is inherently a bad thing. People basically just bashed everything that wasn't an exact replica of Halo 1-3.

Yep I can't play 1-3 MP anymore, they're a relic of the past when twin stick shooters weren't the norm, when people weren't used to fast and frenzied movement in first person shooters, especially on consoles.

I'm totally fine with clamber. Dash and ground pound was trash imo. Anyways, Halo 5 had more problems than those two elements. So far, I'm very happy with the direction Infinite is taking.

What exactly didn't you like about the dash? Ground Pound?
Ground Pound felt pretty useless. What is the point of it in a competitive shooter when people are sprinting and dashing all over the place. Dash made it easier to avoid death, and the mele combo was overpowered. The recharge time was too quick and people spammed it all the time.

A lot of people enjoy classic Halo because you can run, jump, crouch without ever having to put your gun down.

this video pretty much sums up why a lot of people don’t like sprint or any of the other abilities in Halo.

I went to the insider app on my Xbox, clicked join and it just shows pending. On halo waypoint I still can’t see my messages.

Have I skipped a “level” by going to the insider hub before seeing my message from 343?

I’ll be honest I’m pretty glad they went more in that direction multiplayer wise - I’ve played all the halos from the beginning but I am a casual player - the old ones feel too dated to me with the movement now - like I can’t get behind no sprint and no clamber when every other modern FPS has them. I don’t get why that ever was a core part of the halo experience to people, but like I said I’m casual - the map to my eyes looks like a slayer halo map, cannot tell the difference.
look back on halo 1/2/3 maps. they were mostly symmetrical and designed around strategic points. 343 maps are more natural

MCC and Halo 5 with classic playlist feels infinitely better ti play

halo has always been unique, just let it. if you want to be impatient and thoughless while moving across a map and simply want to engage as quickly and frequently as possible then you have llenty of other games as options. there is no point in halo if its not halo

Clamber sucks because it eliminates thoughtful movement and encourages rambo style play. mix in sprint and halo 5 gameplay is whittled down to racing in laps around the map guns blazing.

ground pound is awful because its a cheap kill that was afforded to it by clamber
