The 360 wasn't absolutely 30 FPS steady anyway.

Far better than PS3 I can sure you. Crysis 2 for Xbox 360 runs rather well for the time in comparison with PS3 version, and if I remember right the Xbox 360 runs at native 720p?

Greater gulf between the PS3 and Switch. It shows the most gen over gen improvement.

I'm worried because this sounds cheesy. I mean, whats the point of comparisons if you choose just one plataform specifically?
Might as well compare Doom(DOS) Switch with the 3DO Doom version as well.

It's more akin to comparing Doom(SNES) to Doom (GBA)

Even if the performance was the same on 360 it'd still be an impressive port considering the switch's TDP.
Impressive is subjective and only if you compare it ancient hardware plus as usual DF talks up the mobile hardware aspect while using docked performance.

You're right , it being impressive is subjective, but not being impressed is also subjective. The metrics that can impress can also disappoint, and depending what you focus on, will shape your position. At the end of the day it runs better than the 360/PS3 versions.

I have to give them credit for hitting a pretty solid 30fps.

Off-topic, when they start talking about other ambitious Switch games and they show Doom Eternal. I had no idea how awful that looked. I expected bad but this looks like the Wii version of Doom:

But is it 60fps

My point is 'if' PS3 version was made today would probably get the same standarts as this Nintendo Switch. You know, using dynamic scaler and bump the resolution don't mean the game will runs 900p 100% of the time.
Not likely.

PS3 scaler hardware was limited, as it could only scale one axys. so you really had to render stuff in a resolution like 1024x1080 and then get to 1920x1080 by scaling the horizontal axys. you couldn't get 900p vertical pixels to 1080p in a "free" way.

It was that, or use the SPE's, but that usually meant extra latency.

VRAM was also limited on both consoles, and the two RAM pools only made it worse on the PS3.
edit: BTW, I would make a comparison withNintendo Swtich the best choise would be X360 because Xbox 360 runs at a higher resolution and better perfomance than PS3.
I agree, I don't understand why they keep popping up the PS3 version on this video.

I remember late PS360 was some dynamic resolutions strategies, more limited by the hardware and time, but I give Crysis for PS360 a award because the time was release we don't have any form of modern use of mix perfomance and graphics, not to mention Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 for PS360 from the time was release, get comparison with PC with was very very galaxies ahead the console version, almost unfair comparison.

The first video Crytek release, they compared Xbox Series X with Xbox 360 with I believe don't make any sense because the PC version is already very very old, unless they want to full dissonest marketing around this game. Switch I give a break because the portable factor, but at least compare with Xbox 360.

Where I said otherwise? But still it's not absolutely 30 FPS steady. It was sub720p too a bit higher of the PS3, maybe 1152x720p, I don't remind.

Are people really trying to turn this int another 'DF loves Xbox' thread?.
If anything by using the PS3 version to compare, they are making the Switch version look better. So if anything its DF overly loving the Switch, as they tend to do 'Cant believe this 15 year old game runs on a mobile chipset OMG!!!.

I have to agree with some here, I’m a bit over the “wow it’s running on a handheld”, that factor has long worn off for me lol. Plus I play everything docked.

It’s a nice improvement over 360 but it’s the 360. Also I would only play crysis on PC.

I never said you did.
You're too much into this. Short answer, 'for the time this game was release' the Xbox 360 version of Crysis 2 was the best of the console area, while the PS3 was the worst. None are ideal, but keep this in mind, taking into consideration the Xbox 360 hardware specs, was pretty decent for the time.

I do enjoy digital foundry's general positivity, but the whole a port to the switch that is well within it's specs is a miracle gets a bit over the top. We know the switch is capable of 360/ps3 Games with a bit better visuals/performance /resolution as long as the port isn't a trainwreck (ninja gaiden)
Though df and over the top headlines are kind of a given.
If the Switch is a 360/PS3+ in your hands, dare we hope for the Switch 2 to be a XB1/PS4+?

On topic, I might pick this up as I never got around to playing it back then. Sure it's not the best way to play, but I enjoyed Crysis 2 on the 360, and gyro aiming is a big plus for me.
The snapdragon 888 can perform comparably to the ps4 so mobile chipsets can definitely hit that point, but prices still need to come down
