PS5 dominates boxed charts, takes the No.1, No,2 and No.3 spots

UK

  • Fifa 21 : 62% of sales on PlayStation
  • Hitman III : 75% on PlayStation
  • F1 2021: 65% on PlayStation
  • Nier Replicant : 90% on PlaySstation
  • Mass Effect Legendary : 70% on PlayStation
  • Resident Evil VIII : 80% on PlayStation
  • Hades : 93% on PlayStation
  • NFL 22 : 81% on PlayStation

NFL, Hades and Fifa 21 are all on gamepass. Its pretty easy to 'dominate' boxed sales when players on the other console are getting it as part of a subscription.

In all seriousness, I have to wonder:

If a game is released on PS5 and Xbox, and the Xbox version isn't added on Gamepass, do Xbox owners hold off on a purchase, in the anticipation of a Gamepass release?

I ask as I have sort of the same relationship with Netflix - I'll see a film that looks interesting, but I'll wait 18 months for it to pop up on Netflix. In the main, it tends to happen (except Disney stuff, of course). I'm looking at Dune right now and thinking I'll just wait.

The other games are not in the gamepass and yet it doesn't change the fact that third party games sell much better on PlayStation

Ahh the weekly UK boxed charts salt hangout!

It is pretty interesting how polarized the opinions are about these sports. Not sure why soccer (yeah.....that's what we call it) never really caught on for most like it did elsewhere. I can't watch soccer, personally. I find it boring. It is what it is.
Because Americans play soccer until they're old enough to play other sports. Soccer moms and all.

I'd imagine the ratio of Xbox owners being on Gamepass is an order of magnitude higher than the ratio of Playstation owners being on EA Play.

One of those subscription services has between 1-3 million subs, the other between 25-30 million.

Right, so doesn't that indicate there's an emerging trend where there's difference in purchasing habits between the two respective platforms?

The point is if people on playstation wanted those games on a subscription service then the option is there, but it's clear most people would still rather make the purchase.

I wouldn’t be surprised if psyconauts 2 also had an 80/20 split in favor of PlayStation in next weeks chart.

Why not 40? Or 50 mio.? If you are pulling numbers out of your sitting pillow, you can at least shoot for the moon.

Because, you know, MS didn't wait to announce the 18 Mio. in January, but have yet to fire the fireworks for crossing the 20 Mio. milestone....

Oh and it still doesn't explain why all of the other games not on the 450 Mio. subscribers service share a common pattern regarding the sales split...

Btw, my opinion regarding these weekly reports is 🤷🏼‍♂️
Came for the funny apologetic responses and was not disappointed.

Americans dont care about boring, they watch Baseball. Go Mets. But the reason is all the best Futbol players play outside the us. Greats players see USA as a retirement home. Washed mexican players use the MLS to look like gods.

A lot fewer Americans watch baseball than (American) football.

So you're saying those devs that made those games are probably making more money on Playstation than Xbox?
In the case of Hades it's safe to say the Gamepass payout was much higher than the revenue generated from UK boxed sales.

The other 2 I'm not sure about because we know nothing about how EA play/Gamepass work together.

Yeah, but who’s the winner and what is the prize?

Not MS and the prize could be the feelings.

Some devs are still betting they can take MS money to put theirs games on xbox gamepass while the consumers from the biggest gaming communities Playstation and Steam sustain their softwares sales. Wonder till when those consumers will start to wait and not buy on launch anymore.

But is Hades "only" selling the box copies of their game in the UK? I would think they'd release the box copies of the game worldwide.
That's not what this thread is about though.

We don't have enough info from other regions yet to draw any further conclusions.

I don't care what anyone says AMERICAN FOOTBALL (gridiron whatever you call it)SUCKS.

Rugby, Cricket, and Football is where it's at. AND it's NOT Soccer you yanks. "lollipop_disappointed: :messenger_heart:
Its 100% Soccer here in the US and when you are not good enough to play Football, Basketball and or Baseball you try out for Soocer.

Totally true story.

I work with a lot of kids privately tutoring them on pitching and know a lot of area Athletic Directors for Indiana High Schools.

Many of my kids that are super talented have been straight told by the ADs to drop Soccer and work on the main sports.

Back on track what amazes me about this is seeing this GOT DC boxed lead the charts showing a lot of new people getting to try out a wonderful game.

So Nintendo fans love Japanese sales threads
And sony fans love uk sales thread's
So what about Microsoft fans 🤔
Anyway good news for ps5 stock situation
