IGN GamesCom 2021 livestream featured the reveal of the next story DLC for Spanish indie game studio's The Game Kitchen hit debut Blasphemous - Wounds of Eventide, coming FREE this December.
The animated trailer might suggest the DLC will focus on bringing the story of the elusive Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony to completion, leading up to the ultimate true ending of the game.

The reveal ended with an announcement of a full sequel to the game in the making, scheduled for 2023.

The dark fantasy action-platformer Blasphemous is getting a story-concluding update later this year, leading to a full sequel slated for sometime in 2023.
The Game Kitchen announced at Gamescom that it will release Wounds of Eventide later this year in December. This free DLC will unlock the true ending for Blasphemous, originally released in 2019.
“We’re so excited to finally announce that we’ve started on a Blasphemous sequel, the community have shown so much love for the first game and we can’t wait to share more when we can!” says Game Kitchen in a statement.

But if the wait is long, fans can at least enjoy the upcoming Wounds of Eventide DLC which is described as the final installment and definitive end to the first Blasphemous.

I digged alot the art and while the story didn't bother me much I got kinda dissapointed with the game. The soundtrack in particular...why people don't even try to do a decent music nowadays is beyond me.

I'll play it again.
I enjoyed and hated the game when I played it to completion + did some basic Achievement hunting. It tries too hard to be the Dark Souls of Metroidvania and ends up annoying the player a bit too much.

Super stoked about this, absolutely loved Blasphemous. Being a Spaniard myself, it was hard to not be all over it, haha.

Eh, a lot of things are subjective. To each their own, but I personally loved the OST. This track is just one example.

Blasphemous was amazing. Did several playthroughs of the main game and the DLC. Art style is fantastic, gruesome and evocative, and the combat is equally good, with memorable boss fights and lore. Can't wait for this new piece of story dlc and the sequel. Exciting times ahead!

Is this game any good ?
This and Hades are the same price...
I personally loved it a good amount. If you're trying to purchase one, I'd say go with the one that you're more in the mood to play. I mean, gameplay-wise they're nothing alike, haha.

To be blunt, one is a metroidvania, and the other is a rogue-like. in the end I'd personally recommend both, though that may not be that helpful. So, sorry, haha.

Blasphemous was a good game and I quite enjoyed it. It wasn't overly difficult either. The 2D animation and the overall asthetic were well done. If anyone hasn't played it and you enjoy Metroid clones, this is a good one.

This game is so fucking good. Surprise of 2021, should've bought this WAY earlier. Picked it up recently on Steam and what a ride.

Amazing visual style, incredible soundtrack [straight up top 10 of all time material], challenging but fair with cool movesets and unlocks. The lore and presentation is super cool and the enemies are gruesome in their design. Very gnarly.

Criminally underrated. I went in thinking it would just be a decent game to go through, and ended up being addicted to the world, the writing and the overall execution of combat and flow. This current update is a surprise, and I didn't realize a bunch of other updates have happened. Time to jump back in.

I got about 1/4 of the way thru this game before I burned out. Is it worth going back to finish it? I loved the pixel art but got too frustrated from constantly falling down pits in one area.

yes! Not sure when you played it, they did tweak platform edge collision in later patches so platforming is more lenient

I would say yes, but the game is grossly unfair in places & difficulty is high. Nobody will judge if you walk away.
But you can't let that fucker win can you? You gotta get right, show the game who's boss! Rip those achievements/trophies off its bloated corpse.

I finished the game a couple of weeks ago.
Got the bad ending and I'm not going to replay it in the near future just because of the awful amount of slow back tracking.

Lovely game but not a SotN.

Gotta check this out, it looks good. For some reason I always mix this up with that shit game Agony (I really have no idea why or how).

Forgot about this DLC. Between this and Deaths Gambit getting a complete overhaul, it's a good time to revisit both games.

I played Deaths Gambit Afterlife right after beating Metroid Dread. Both were great but DGA was even better! To anyone that slept on Deaths Gambit I highly recommend it as well. The new Afterlife update changed so much stuff for the better.

This game was ball-bustingly tough for me, I think I only made it halfway. I found it tougher than Hollow Knight, which wasn't a walk in the park either but I was able to beat.

Anyone know how to access the new DLC? I'm on NG++ and running around trying to acquire clues on how to reach it but none so far. Don't really feel like playing the whole game again.

If you already beat the dude on the bridge it's a restart. Same for me.

-Locate The Resting Place of the Sister, in Echoes of Salt BEFORE you meet Esdras on the bridge (before you cross the bridge and meet him after the 1st 3 bosses). She will give an item to show him, he will decide not to fight you when you do meet him on the bridge.

So it's basically playing the whole game again... Uhh, didn't expect that. NG+ was pretty brutal so doing everything again in NG++ feels like a chore. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

Me neither. Turns out the DLC alters how the whole main quest plays out rather than only adding new locations and bosses which is great and enough for me to go in NG whenever I have the time.

Also "Requiem Aeternam" trophy is fixed, it just popped after I launched the game.

Yeah, I guess it's worth one more playthrough. I love the game and I want to see the new content. It's said to bridge the sequel so it's pretty exciting. Got the trophy too so it's nice they fixed. It was a hard one so got bummed when it didn't pop.
