I got you covered OP

look at the graphics. They are almost like real life.

No way I’m watching 35 minutes of this horseshit. 😆 That’s 100% not what I was taking about

I’m gonna suggest you to read back the last 2 pages. Because if you think this is about sex, you clearly missed the fucking point

I think it's because gamers are an immature audience that struggle with concepts and stories that challenge their viewpoints or the norm.

Example being, the last of us part 2, even death stranding.

Some game developers are growing up, but gamers simply aren't, they're stuck in the teenage years even if they're actually like 30.
FACTS

Gamers piss me off. The reaction to TLOU 2 shows that the true geniuses of the industry ala Druckmann are better off doing film where their work will be more appreciated.

Gamers can only handle shit like DOOM, soon as it has some substance, its a movie game.

Although it's content was supposed to convey mature themes, it's execution was ironically as immature as you can get.

And that's the whole thing, being mature is being aware/wise enough to recognize and engage in complex matters because we see them and henceforth deal with said issues as we are.

Instead of this, so called mature morals are spoonfed and pressured upon us in the name of "maturity"

Miss me that shit.

(TLOU2 for example)

I personally have zero problem game being dark and depressing, it was why I love Drakengard and SMT series. My problem with TLOU2 is it is has more character it has more death and it much more violent but none of it was as impactful as the first game, I mean most of side character in Part 2 die like flies but none of them was meaningful as death of Tess , Henry and Sam in the first game.

I felt the game was trying too hard to "shock" me rather meaningful story.

But the dog dying hit harder than any character from Part 1 lol

Unlike mediums like books and films, which have always been ways to share stories and as an art forms, video games started off life as children's toys.

Many people still associate video games as children's toys, which is unsurprising really when the most popular games are Fortnite, Pokémon and COD.

name a more mature game than TLOU 2 that is executed half as well.

RDR 2 is the only game even close, and that is it...

Well it was harder to watch, I’ll give you that.
I’d love to have a serious and honest discussion with Druckman on why he chose to do that. In context of TLOU2, it’s no accident he made Ellie do this, I think. But that’s a whole other debate

I think you bring an interesting point here.
However, I do not think games tackling mature subject would be for those people anyway.

I really wouldn’t mind a game (or maybe just a DLC) à-la-COD, where they seriously approach PTSD (in a different way of Spec-Ops The Line 2… not made for shock/surprise value, but something way, way more dark and disturbing), what these horrors do onto people, and to those around them. There’s room for a LOT of deep subjects, but clearly this idea isn’t for the average COD player

Most of them, tlou2's plot reminded me of those edgy teen fanfics you can read on webnovel sites.

Its as mature as an emo 15 years old having a fight with his parents because he insists he's already a grown up and can drink vodka now. Then proceeding to lock himself in his room to listen to sad guitar songs cause the world is so so bad and unfair.

Games struggle to tackle serious issues in their story because story isn't the most important aspect to a game. With a film, novel, or comic the story is king, but with games the most important aspect is gameplay.

Most of those subjects are better suited to movies/TV/books than games. Games add the additional layer of gameplay and interactivity, which doesn't mix well with all types of stories and subjects. You'll not only have to tell your story but do it so incorporating 5,8,10+ hours of engaging gameplay.

How do you do so? In the case of say, relationships. Are you going to make a Telltale style interactive argument scene between a husband and wife? Is that actually going to be engaging? Is it something people will want to do for 10+ hours? Is the writing and the story you want to tell actually going to be better having to write around a bunch of player choices instead of being able to write a specific linear story in a movie like Marriage story?
