PS Showcase 2021: Gran Turismo 7 Trailer, PS5, March 4 (cross gen title)

GT is a track-focused game. You will not be driving a LaFerrari through the tropical jungle. Most of that shit from aerial shots won't even be visible from the standard camera perspective. Rendering Far Cry-quality landscapes behind a wall of trees (or just a long way from the track) is a waste of resources. Instead, we get a decent physics model, ray-traced reflections, good performance, maybe a 120fps option for VR in the future.

I don't see any obstacles for ps5 to display more nice trees and pebbles at 30fps but that's not what i expect from a Gran Turismo game.

I can understand some regrets about the cross-gen issue, but let's be honest: it wouldn't change THAT much.
Maybe you would have more ammo in your console wars, but aside from that, you can see that Polyphony is trying to get back to the roots. And that's a hell of a improvement already.

thats not a menu shot that’s a fly by of that track. All footage you can see low geometry, flat textures etc

Got ya, rewatched it a bunch.... Yeah the trees and distant environmental objects etc are of poor standard kinda shit tbh could be better no question.

But are we really this unhappy about trees, grass and distant mountains that we don't see in actual racing and only in a replay?.

The cars, tracks, lighting and close to track objects all range from good to superb... If there focus is on close proximity details I'm fine with that as I don't give a shit about the lod far off track.

It's a track based racing game and if the tracks and cars are excellent in both looks and feel then the vast majority of racing fans will be very pleased, most including me won't care about the low poly tree that we won't see when racing lol it's not a stop and check out the scenery type of game.

It would probably change huuugely on PS5 only. They could utilize the geometry engine and ssd. Stream high res textures and geometry. A racing game following a linear path is perfect for this. Also, they could do alot more with physics on the cpu side!

On PS5 only, they could stream high res textures and geometry (SSD/geometry engine), and upped the ante x5 on the physics side of things. And thats just what we know of...I`m sure if Polyphony got free reigns with that tech, they would blow minds.

i wonder if these people complain about racing sims on pc that look terrible with the INFINITE PC POWER!! . of course not, but GT always attracts the crazies and the people that never play or like these types of games

Consoles in general attract the crazies, Always obsessed with gwafix, CEOs and now off track trees...

great its march, graphic disappointing looks like gt sport (tough we knew it already after last year trailer and info about crossgen), cool dynamic weather is comming with wet percentage indicator on ui, worry that only 90 track variations (gt sport has 84 after years of patches I think)

With over 420 cars available at Brand Central and the Used Car Dealership from day one, Gran Turismo 7 recreates the look and feel of classic motors and bleeding-edge supercars alike in unparalleled detail. Each car handles differently and feels unique as you navigate over 90 track routes in dynamic weather conditions, including classic courses from GT history.

We can only speculate on the issue because we haven't had a chance to compare the ps4 and ps5 versions yet. Besides, PD's priorities have long been elsewhere, it is not just a matter of hardware but of the studio itself.

I’m very excited actually. I feel like this will indeed be the first really good installment since GT4. The car customization is a big step up from anything we’ve had in any GT so far, which is a big deal and something a lot of people, myself included, have complained about in previous titles. Even rim width and offset has finally made it in!

I have a few worries, though. The wording regarding weather/time is shady and it’s not obvious whether it’s dynamic or not. There’s no sign of damage, and we’re only six months away from release so there probably won’t be any. The AI is also likely gonna suck once again. But other than that, as I said, I’m excited.

Either this game will be incomplete, looks like a slightly enhanced ps4 pro game, or it's not coming out in March. A 3 minute trailer with like 15 seconds of the actual driving in game? Why don't they show more of the actual game graphics?

As far as time of day goes we see it changing in the trailer sped up.

This shot looked really bad to me.

I legitimately thought this was a photoshopped joke image of a Goldeneye 64 mod/emulator at first blush. Or is it?

Where the fuck were Bluepoint at.

I assume Sony sitting on few things they can easily announce
Bluepoint game and aquisition
2 Firesprite games that have been in development for a while
Firewalk game, Hurst said he played it so it must be ready to show sooner or later
Guerilla Games shooter, it's been in development since 2018
Factions
Last of Us 2 Remastered
Last of Us Remake
they shipped a game last year bruh... you expect them to have something ready to show within like 10 months?

Much better than 90% of what was shown at the showcase.

Idk, maybe the youtube compression just killed it all when watching it live.
We should all be shouting from the rooftops that compressed 1080p YouTube is NOT the way they should be showing off these games. A direct PS4 Pro feed of God of War looks better than a youtube compressed live feed of the sequel. Same for GT7. If they uploaded this exact video and just "premiered " it at 4K WITH HDR - wtf is the problem with that?! No live comments or something? Who CARES!? DO IT RIGHT.

Terrible editing on the trailer too.

PS4 Version better be 30FPS or i rage hard.
Because only that will show that they were willing to make major sacrifices on PS4 in order to have the PS5 Version at least to some extend using the Power of PS5.

I can relate. I was thrilled to find that halo infinite MP is 30fps last gen due to physics. Shows me they did not compromise their vision

I think the only hope for a true next gen racing game will be Forza motorsport, this was not impressive even a Forza horizon 5 cross gen was more attractive

Gt sport looks unreal on an oled.
Gt7 will only look better.

Can't wait for this, especially with how FH4 (and most likely 5) handled progression. No other racing games have the sense of working your way up from a starter car the same way GT games do.

Very underwhelming to say the least. Sony have pulled up a Halo infinite here 🤦‍♂️

Considering GT sports even now looks great. GT7 barely has any improvement apart from some RT ?

VR was very limited on GTS. So I guess it is better to delay this game to at least Holiday 2022 or release it with PSVR2 ? Otherwise I am not sure GT7 is worth it at its current state. This game is going to be WIP and probably take a year or two with some serious updates. I also predict very average score for this game. They have to delay this 🤷‍♂️

Not sure why you have to drag pc into it, because "INFINITE PC POWER" produces some good results.

Cannot wait. So many good memories with GT.

Nobody talking about the return of car customisation? Looks bloody good!

Return of the classic tracks such as Trial Mountain seals the deal.

I rly don't know why they pushed this generation so fast......Halo Infinite , GOW5,GT7, HZD2,COD;Vanguard,Dying Light 2,Tales of Arise etc all look unimpressive.
Only FH5 looks next generation. Clearly they rushed out consoles in pandemic out brake but developers are not ready for the new hardware & they don't have money & tools to make next generation games.

agree but don't know why you put hz2 on list, game looks amazing (imo bigger jump from hz1 than fh5 from fh4 tough fh5 also looks great)

GT1 GT2 and GT4 intro remake, Moon over the Castle (the True Opening), touched my heart.

Then...
piripi piripi piripi,
piripi piripi piripi,
piripi piripi piripi...

As usual, cars are good but environments are pretty bad, saved only by the lighting, otherwise would be mistaken for a PS3 game.

What's up with lack of new (old) tracks? I only see mention of High Speed Ring and Trial Mountain.

Also, I'm not fan of those GT Sport fantasy tracks (ok, Dragon Trail and Lago Maggiore are great), so I'm little dissapointed to see those filler tracks in while classics like Grand Valley, Autumn Ring, SS Route 11 (GT1 version) etc. are nowhere to be seen.

Was happy to see Mt Panorama making a return.

Thank fuck Mt Panaroma is back finally. Soo is this weather dynamic or not? Because the wording sounds like they still haven’t sorted it out.

A fully-fledged GT game on PS5 in March. What’s not to love? I guess there are some simple looking fly-by shots, but considering this is not MS Flight sim, I reckon I can live with it.

GT Planet has a really good article on the game if anyone is interested. I love that the menu for used cars uses Scapes to make it look like an Autotrader magazine. Looks like licence training is back, vehicle servicing - especially useful for 2nd hand cars, better livery editor and all the other stuff you’d associate with a proper GT game. I’m super excited to play this now.

I hope they add a mirror funktionality to the livery Editor.
I can't understand how people are fine without it..
I mean that if you want to have the left side look like the right side of your car wich you just finished , that you just click some button and it get mirrored . Or that all what you do on one side automatically is done to the other side aswell.

Superstupid like it is now you switch back and forth to the other side to check "how high did I made it there" and "how big was that sticker again"

I blown away by not seeing this complaint in all these years.. not a single one fucking time did I see that fucking complaint. And why??
Are you all a little stupid or what??
