Sadly this game just feels like it's going nowhere. I have no idea why but every time I see it I'm just not interested, it's like the game was designed to look uninteresting, it's not from mechanics or world design, as that appears unique. Yet it all blends together into sort of beige... like I'd buy it if literally nothing else was available to play... thinking about it I would probably hmm and harr if it was in a bargain bin for £10 on to buy it not.

Its weird I don't think iv ever felt so disinterested about a game before.

That's a game built without passion, smells like design by committee trying to find somethig cheap and then doing everything on the playbook trying to make it interesting.

The first time i saw the trailer i thought it looked intriguing.
By now i have seen new trailers of it so many times shoved into so many different events that i don't want to know anything about it.

I feel like i have seen more Deathloop trailers than Raid Shadow Legends promotions on youtube.

Since I love the Dishonored and Prey from Arkane I was always interested in Deathloop despite not beeing a rogue like fan and not fully understanding how this game works. But I must admit that I am really annoyed that Deathloop shows up in every Sony stream with similar footage. Especially in the stream on Thursday because I wanted to see something new and definitely not Deathloop again. For me all those similar showings left such a bitter aftertaste that currently I have no interest in Deathloop at all. This will probably change but right now I want something else.

The marketing didnt hurt it. Finding out its a roguelike hurt it.
Amazing hot take but it's less of a roguelike and more like "Minit" (look it up, that game's actually amazing and you all need to play it. Fantastic soundtrack as well).

Lost interest the moment they talked about multiplayer.
What? You mean the invasion mechanic similar to Dark Souls? (also touted by DOOM Eternal but never made it in there sadly).

I've always thought the game looked beautiful and interesting, and likely to be excellent given who's developing it.

It was also clear from the beginning that it was FAR too quirky and was bound to be a commercial disaster.

MAYBE if it gets really brilliant reviews it might be saved, but otherwise...

Deathloop never felt like anything more than a Dishonored reskin but it still looks so much better than that garbage Redfall. Made me do a double take when I saw Arkane was the developer behind that.

Have we ever seen some unedited extended gameplay?

Looks cool to me and i consider buying it but i will wait for reviews. I really don't mind the marketing for the game.

There are loads of previews on YT now with 10 to 15 minutes' footage.

Game looks great and all the feedback I've seen has been glowing.

Idk if it harmed the game, more like harming the PS-events by taking up time that could’ve been spent on their own stuff. Look at the show the other day-I think most people, myself included, would’ve preferred Horizon FW to take up those 3 minutes instead of Deathloop for the 5th time.

I kinda got sick of it after seeing all the footage. I had it preordered and then cancelled after watching Giant Bomb’s footage. I really liked Prey, Dishonored 1 and 2, but this is basically a big Dishonored map. It’s a gallery that you have to explore without getting caught. If you don’t want to parkour through the entire thing and watch what all the NPCs are doing then you only get a quarter of what the game is offering. I bought their other games, even Arx Fatalis. I was also a lot more excited about this game after the reveal trailer. The hype sorta flattened out like a pancake.

The amount of unsubstantiated bullshit on this thread...there has to be a reason why hum...

especially when you consider that Returnal, a roguelike, makes consensus on this same forum...hum....HHUUUUUMMMMM I wonder why.

Love Arkane games. The amount of freedom they give you in terms of gameplay is unrivaled. The main reason to get it. But I'm staying smart and wait for reviews.

Something I'm still confused about, does the actual game also have the 70's blacksploitation aesthetic, or is that just a marketing identity? The in game art direction and gameplay demos just straight up look like Dishonored 3, but then the trailers start cutting in a bunch of jive talkin heads that are completely at odds with the real time visuals. Im not sure whats real and whats an advertising overlay.

Even if the game is an AAA in terms of reviews or whatever . I still won’t buy it when I know I am getting free on game pass next year. It’s not a game I am really concerned about and have to play it the day it came out . Rarely very few games do that for me . So yeah no . Not gonna buy it. The game doesn’t look fun either to be honest or even graphically impressive.

Sony is really lacking in terms of games and the fact they showed the same titles as last year does tell . They need more studios and they need to secure really good amount of 3rd party games exclusive to them . And when I say exclusive I mean full exclusive just like street fighter 5. Not a game that will come to Xbox after 6 months or 1 year
R3
I honestly do not understand how companies can be so stupid with this so called time exclusive . This shit doesn’t work. People are willing to wait to buy the game on a console they already own . Specially when games cost like 100$ now after tax here in Canada .
You know xbox is irrelevant to most gamers so they don't even find out what's happening over there.

It always looked weak and not even sure why it is exclusive.

THey can give it a chance by making it free to play multiplayer...

From the first trailer the game looked like shit to me. The first person camera, art style and overall hipster attitude were all a big turn-off.

The fact that they are trying to shove it down our throats makes it even worse. I want to vomit everytime i hear about this game.

I would never pay $70 for a B game that look worse than 90% of the games last gen.

I have no idea why Jim Ryan paid for it. It's insane. It's not the kind of game you want to associate with ps exclusives. It brings down the quality they have worked so hard to cultivate. It looks so exceedingly mediocre that I am embarrassed for the people who made it.

Hopefully this makes arkhane realize that their b games are just not good enough. They must have cult status and even some fans, but my god there is a reason why their games have never found mainstream success. They need to be better than this in 2021.

And whoever paid for this game to be an exclusive needs to be fired and then admitted to a mental hospital.

Played first two hours of the tutorial and have not finished yet it seems, very good introduction to all the mechanics and “loops”.
You can die up to 3 times and 1 day split into 4 parts, part of day is very relevant to the objectives, multiplayer part is similar to soul series it seems, you get invaded be either npc or player and you fight, died? Yiu lose one of the death charges. You win? You get a special skill that you can use within one loop.
There is more but don’t know how it works outside tutorial so don’t wanna to say anything at this stage.

Shooting feels phenomenal due to implementation of dualsense which really does the job in this case.

Graphics great, music outstanding - really fits that 70s vibe of the game.

This is Arkane game to the bone, a lot of attention to detailand level design best of the best as usual. Roguelike makes a lot of sense, because this way you will explore more and learn more to fully appreciate what Arkane have prepared for everyone. But not sure yet what is the system of progression between the loops.

This is a big fucking nitpick but this game suffers from sharing another platform with PS5 (PC), so you have loading screens! :( they last like 1-3 seconds by average but still haha.
Come one pc! Get your shit together with shit tier SSDs xD

Anyway, I know I will spend a lot hours with this game and enjoy it tremendously.

Really good first impression, going to smoke some pot this evening and murder those always partying bastards! :D

Thank god I'm not the only one whos been put off by that marketing.

At the very beginning I was kind of intrigued.
Then I saw real gameplay and lost intereset.
No I would only test/play it if I get it for free because of all the unnecessary agressive marketing.

I'm big fan of Arkane's games. I'm expecting Deathloop be bigger and better version of concepts of Prey: Moonshot.

I have seen some trailers and limited gameplay, looks good to me, probably will be buying that game.

So the big hook of this game from the adverts is you're supposed to be killing the same person over and over again.. That's basically what I've been doing since Doom

I think this game looks better every time I see it, weird how many people are down on it. This is the studio that made Prey and dishonored, they have an excellent track record and this game looks crazy. My only disappointment is that it’s PlayStation exclusive but I have already bought it on my PS5. I think ghost wire looks amazing as well.

Making me hyped here! I love Arkane games, gameplay above anything else with an huge sense of style in the art direction. Both aspects usually rare nowadays. I really can't wait to play it.

Very difficult to say, when I visited each of the maps (4 maps for 4 parts of the day) I thought it might be somewhat short (10 hrs)
But then I realised how vast first map is and how many side quests are available. It might be the biggest of all Arkane games if you try to do everything.
Will have a better view on this tomorrow morning probably.

It hasn't hurt it but I don't think it's done much to help either, people who wanted it at the beginning are probably still going to buy it and those of us who thought it looked like what was supposed to be launch window filler weren't interested then and we aren't now. I'd rather have that than Ghostwire though, both look very skippable to me.

Nice, im gonna do everything for sure. Hows the aiming feels? I heard it has input lag like previous arcane games? Please say no. Also how is the game looks and performs in performance mode? Still good image quality in 60 fps mode?

I'm more interested in the story, than playing the game.

I get a sense that the girl is the man's unknown/forgotten daughter and she's sought to make him pay for not being there, for her.

I mean come on. Both black, she has a vendetta, and considerable age difference.

That's all I care about for this game.

I have largely been insulated from Deathloop, so I've only seen two trailers for it, and that was close to whatever e3 they released it at, and then as soon as they switch to a gameplay demo where they explain game concepts to a player like they have never played a videogame, or fail to understand esoteric concepts, I immediately start ignoring it.

There are a few other issues:
Deathloop highlights repetition. All games have repetition, but it's a different thing to advertise repetition. This puts into my head, at least, that I'm going to be "wasting time" by repeating things. Most of the time we waste time through padding systems, which is the bane of modern games; but it's hidden from us until we get to it.
Arkane games tend to be atmospherically heavy, and even though DL seems to try to be lighter, they have an almost propogandic art style and color palette [substitute red for orange/brown in this game], and somehow cause everything in their games to look like plastic or styrofoam, or very disjointed from the world.

While I'm being harsh in these assessments; I think Dishonored was a very admirable game, but I remember so very little about it, and when I really think about the game, my mind drifts to how I felt they were influenced by Bioshock.

When they announced Dishonored 2, I knew I didn't want to get dragged back into it. When they announced Prey, I got upset that they got rid of the original's character [I loved Prey 06, then they announced the cool version of prey, then they scrapped it for dark and heavy Prey]

I actually think Deathloop looks fun, but I just have all these other issues with the above.

8 minutes is an exaggeration, it was a 3 minute trailer, but I get your point. Yet another Deathloop trailer.

I’m not sure if Sony shoving it down our throats will have much impact overrall. I don’t think Arkane’s games are normally known for selling large amounts of copies, even though their games are highly regarded. Deathloop was probably never destined to set the sales world on fire being a 70s roguelike. It’s an odd pairing.

I think it looks pretty fun though the more I see of it.

There should be a "interested but will wait for it to release on gamepass" option in the poll...

At least that's what I intend to do.. it's not appealing enough to pay for it early on PS5 when I will get it on XSX/GP later. I'd rather put that money for other "actual" PS5 exclusives.

That’s on them though. I am not gonna spend a 100$ Canadian on a game I am getting for free in 6 months or whatever . It doesn’t even look like a game I wanna spend 30$ on it too either .
It’s like one of those games you see on game pass and you try for few hours before you get bored and delete it to save space.
Doesn’t look fun at all I am not even sure why I am in this thread lol.
I am out lol

I was always cautiously interested in the game due to who was making but what sold it to me was actually all the really positive previews that I've read and watched on the game. It does seem like it's going to be a fantastic game from the feedback it's received.
I'd imagine that the majority of people who buy games though do that because of trailers they've seen and because it's from Arkane and because it's not a simple game to explain maybe Arkane have felt they needed more trailer.

Oh, it's a roguelike? That never occurred to me, I always just thought it was the new immersive sim from Arkane with some time gimmick. Ugh. I do not want another roguelike, I found Returnal a massive slog.

And it will be on Gamepass I guess.

Hm from the latest stuff I've actually turned around and am probably buying it.

Conspiracy: its a Microsoft game now so Sony doesn't want it to sell
