Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition pops up on Korean ratings board

T: Theft, determination, to steal what you can and run from the nation

The Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee are at it again. Renown for its ability to leak the existence of new games before the publishers are ready to drop the official word, the governing body has uploaded a new listing for a Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, as registered by publisher Take-Two Interactive.

While there are zero details pertaining to this new title, the internet has been in full whisper mode for some time, suggesting that developer Rockstar is currently preparing full remasters of classic PS2/Xbox release Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004). There is, of course, no clarification that the listed “Definitive Edition” is this GTA remaster trilogy, but the conclusion is a snug one…

…That said, it could turn out to be a compendium of the PS3, PS4, and PS5 editions of Grand Theft Auto V. Don’t laugh.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
So curious what exactly this is...hopefully it's more than a cheap port but...probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

It's gonna be ports. Even if they add a lick of paint, I think a lot of people are in for a shock as to how archaic they feel. Don't get me wrong, I prefer them all to modern GTA, but they're clunky as fuck today.

Can't believe how awful the aiming/auto aim was compared to Scarface The World Is Yours.

Especially the weapons where you couldn't zoom in or use the scope. Just awful.

The PC versions are hilarious because the games were never balanced for mouse aiming, so they turn into a point-and-click adventures of head popping. Still the best versions available.

If this is III, Vice and SA remade using the GT5 engine, then this is a absolute day one purchase.

Yeah I'll buy it if the price is right.

Didn't like 5, and only played a few minutes of 4 and hated the driving. I don't know if 3/VC/SA either wore me out of them, or I grew up.

Honestly I thought they were clunky as fuck back in the day too lol

But I was mostly a PC gamer just dipping my toes back into consoles back then.

People have no idea. San Andreas was one of the most bungled, glitch-whack-a-mole PC ports of all time.

A horror of a conversion.

They've also sued more modders today, they seem to be getting good at doing this when positive news "leaks".

if they haven't censored the games and it's a decent remake I'll buy them, the PS2 games had a poor controls scheme and an update will benefit them greatly.

I'm an achievement whore and will probably purchase this for that reason alone. Doesn't matter that I own the entire main series on Steam, I'm here for them achievements babyyy and want the 2D remakes too!

The writing in IV and V was an attempt at being more serious while still containing the sophomoric humor of the past. You can't take Niko saying that he's coming to America to start a new life and get away from his past and then turn around and have him carelessly kill drug dealers in the very next mission. And all of that in the dick-and-ball jokes splattered throughout the world. Tonally it tried to serve two masters and failed on both fronts.

Expect ports

Remaking/remastering III / VC / SA and selling all of them for $60 would be the best deal since The Orange Box

But this is Take 2, not Valve

So expect the worst

If they were going to remake them, they wouldn't be offered in a package as they'd charge full price per game.

Why tho?

If there not full remakes and HD remasters why bother?

The iPhone versions are HD remakes, id be so disappointed if these turn out to be ported and tarted up mobile versions of the games.

Zero desire to play older games like these if their controls are still clunky as fuck.....update them and I might be interested.

I really wish they would buy back the licenses of all the music and maybe even add a few new songs. If they buy back Billie Jean for Vice City why not beat it as well? Why not include Breakin The Law as well as You Got another thing Coming?

I bought them on psn as well. They run bad on the ps4. Sound is glitchy. I also played gta 3 on ps3 - much better even if blurier...

I'm very excited to play these games again. I'm not expecting the remasters to blow me away but I love any excuse to play Vice City or San Andreas.

The definitive editions of GTA3 and VC already exist, they're called re3 and reVC and Take2 don't want you to know about them because they know that the fan efforts would make them look bad.
